Outside and lake area was beautiful. Inside of cottage needs work. Main air conditioning did not work. Window unit couldn’t keep up. We had a dog with and during the day it was 86 in the house and only got down to 78 during the night. Tough to sleep in the heat. Plastic shower base is cracked and feels unsafe. Simple things need replacing. Only one light bulb out of three in the bathroom worked. Toaster was broken. Kitchen plates and utensils were cheapest possible quality. Could go on but no need.
We used the cabin as a home base to explore Acadia while having a fun and beautiful place to come back and see the sunsets and sunrises on the water. The little heater was enough to keep us warm during the chilly fall week we were there. Was a great spot for the two of us!
Stayed Friday to Monday. The place was great!! Plenty of room for 4 adults. Kitchen had enough space to prepare meals. Living area works well for watching movies and playing board games. The best part is the view of the lake and fall foliage was beautiful!! Definitely recommend staying at this cabin on Branch Lakr. Thank you!!
I stayed for a long 4th of July weekend with my parents and my husband. My husband immediately jumped into the beautiful lake for a swim, and we used the grill for bbq every night - it was fantastic. The vibes were perfect.
It was a nice small cottage with a canoe which was perfect for my cousin and I. We went to Acadia National Park and Whale watching.
My only request is to make sure there is at least two rolls of toilet paper in the house.
Shelley’s little cottage was the best spot for our getaway! Clean, cozy, rustic-remodel, right on the lake. Quiet & respectful adult neighbors. Just enough supplies provided inside to allow us to pack less. Perfectly situated to spend a relaxing time on the lake or as a base to go exploring. We’d go back in a heartbeat!
We rents this property to be able to visit Acadia and not have to pay too much. It was a perfect weekend. Cabin was as advertised. Very clean. Magnificent view of the lake!
The cabin is beautifully situated in an exclusive peaceful waterside location. It was clean and had plenty of towels and bed linen. The bedrooms are small but comfortable, the curtains aren’t a great fit so if you need total darkness take an eye mask. The pull out bed is not comfortable so if you’re relying on that you may need to use an extra quilt to cover the very lumpy mattress. The bathroom is very small but perfectly adequate for our three night stay. There is a slight tilt to the cabin but nothing too noticeable. It is rustic So don’t expect luxury and the kitchen isn’t particularly well stocked. Most of the ‘crockery’ is flimsy plastic which is a bit insulting given the price and it does feel like there is little effort put into creating a welcoming guest experience. Overall though, the location is what you’re paying for here (and use of the canoe) and that doesn’t disappoint so from that perspective I’d have no hesitation in recommending the cabin.
We enjoyed our stay here. We had some difficulty finding it when we got there because it's a bit tricky to find in the dark, but the owner answered our call right away and helped us find it. She noted that the house number is posted on a tree, but it is hard to see if you don't know where to look. The place was spotless, super clean. The description describes two bedrooms, but they are more of divided spaces instead of rooms. There are solid walls and doors, but no ceilings in the separate rooms with the exception of the bathroom. It looks like the cabin was just one space and walls were added. So, everyone can hear everything that is said. Not a big deal for us and we would stay there again. The cabin does have a small window air conditioner, but I don't know how well it works. We were gone during the day so we didn't turn it on. When we would get back in the evening, it was stuffy in the cabin, but we opened all of the windows and everything cools off quickly. We used the AC as more of a fan because my husband and son like a fan noise to sleep. The beds were very comfortable, but the pull-out wasn't as comfortable. My son used a comforter as extra cushion. There were plenty of dishes. A grill was available, but we didn't use it. We had a great time using the canoe to paddle around the lake. We would stay here again.
The cottage by the lake is a quaint little cabin along a peaceful serene lake with a wonderful view. Definitely not the biggest or fanciest place but a wonderful quiet place surrounded by the beauty of Maine. Far enough away from the tourist traps of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Forest but yet close enough to go should you desire to be with people (yuck!)
Nice accommodations with comfortable furnishings. Everything worked as expected with no issues. The communication with the owner was outstanding, fast and accurate. We would stay again.

Rustic!!!
No smoke alarm or co detector ! The cabin felt it was tilting especially in the bathroom Mold on the bathroom ceiling. Furniture and beds uncomfortable lots of cobwebs and dog hair We left early! Too rustic for me!
Very charming cottage on the water in a nice quiet area. Beautiful star gazing on the private pier. While we did not stay much during the day, there was a Very nice canoe and grill for our use. Nice view of the lake from inside the cabin. It was only two of us so it was perfect. More than 4 would find challenges with the small bathroom, two small bedrooms, and lack of closet/storage. Nice new appliances and we’ll supplied kitchen.
It was a nice location. The boat on the lake was a great plus. The cottage was cute, the pull out sofa in the living room was a little uncomfortable. But we made it work.

The cabin is in a beautiful location. We were there for an event so really only needed it for sleeping. As the 2 rooms have no ceiling (true cabin style) there is less than no privacy. It could use bedside tables and lamps and a few more plates. Completely adequate and the canoe was great to have. Overall, really nice for what we needed it for. Thank you for our stay.
This little cabin was so lovely. It really is close enough to jump in the water ( if you have strong legs). The lake was clear and lovely. My family used the canoe daily to explore the lake, and even visited the little islands in the middle of the lake! 30 or 40 minutes to Acadia, but this little cabin was worth it! It is no frills. You can imagine that someone’s grandpa built it in the 50s. My only critique would be that it needs 2 more plates in the kitchen since it sleeps 6. Other than that, it was perfect. We liked it so much that we asked to stay an additional night. Excellent!
Wonderful panorama windows onto the lake. Beds are super comfy. Low maintenance just right for focusing on fun. Quiet at night and pleasant surroundings. Easy drive to Acadia.
We would recommend this charming cabin to anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet vacation. The cabin was spotless, the neighborhood wonderful and the lake crystal clear and beautiful. The cabin is excellent for 2 to 4 people. Such a gorgeous setting! The only reason it does not get total five stars is because it needs a bit more dishes, some info about the area and has a very tiny deck- but with an excellent view. (I could not figure out how to give 4.5 stars, that should be the score not 4.0) Thoughtful stocking of the cabin with an Unusual amount of spices, very nice amount of towels and items needed to be comfortable with and to cook and clean up with.. Adequate pots, pans, sheets, blankets and heating was supplied. No need to bring anything with you but your clothing and kayak! The canoe provided was a good size. The beds were extremely comfortable! We were looking for rustic setting so it was perfect for us. The owner is very quick to answer questions. We had a really enjoyable stay and loved it there.
What a cute little cottage, we truly enjoyed our stay, the cabin had most everything we needed while we day-tripped around northern Maine and the coast. The fall colours were at their peak.
You can’t beat the stunning outlook over Branch Lake, I could wake up to that everyday!
The two full beds were comfortable, the pull out not so much however we made it work.
The only thing they could add would be some small side tables in the bedrooms and maybe two more comfy chairs in the lounge area, as it really only seats 4.
We also weathered strong winds during a storm, we were expecting some damage that night however all was fine. The parking definitely is tight to turn around in but not much you can do about that!
Thank you for being a great host and keeping your cute little cabin in good shape.
