Welcome to the little country town of Black Canyon City. Step away from the insanity of city life. 15 minutes from the Anthem outdoor shopping -dining just 30 minutes away from Phoenix. Bring your Razor, ATV, motorcycle, hiking, mountain biking gear. We have plenty of room for trailer parking. This is an amazing outdoor community. Easy access. Right off I-17. I hope this property is available when we come back next year. It’s in a great location. The house has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Plenty of room to park our truck and Jeep trailer.

Excellent location for our adventures in the area. Lots of room, especially in master bedroom and bath. Full kitchen. The best part was the backyard for private relaxation and large area for dogs to relax & enjoy off leash, with fans over patio chairs and high cinder block walls.

The place was nice - spacious and comfortable. Nice big kitchen and lots of beds. Dish soap was watered down - basically just water with a few suds - so washing dishes was tricky.Our big problem, however, was the temperature control. On the first morning, we wanted to turn the heat on to warm up the space a little bit - thermostat was set to 69 degrees. However, the digital thermostat required a PIN. I messaged the host about it and she said that because of the "cost of utilities" she can't let people control it themselves but that she could turn it up - but then never did. The thermostat remained at 69.This kind of policy should be clearly stated in the listing. We never would have booked in a place where we can't control the temperature ourselves.

Amazing value, location and house

My wife, father, and friends stayed here for the Black Canyon Ultras and this house was a dream. The location couldn't have been more perfect and it was very quiet, easy to find and easy to check in. If I'm ever back in the Black Canyon area, I'm looking to book this house first!

We enjoyed our stay so much. Perfect location for all of our adventures, close by our family that lives in town. Communication with the owner was smooth and simple. Mary’s place had everything we needed for our week long stay. We will definitely be back!

Black Canyon City

Very nice updated older home. Really appreciated the washer/dryer after traveling for 2 weeks. The fenced yard was wonderful for our dog. The owners had thought of everything that someone would need if you forgot anything. Would stay here again.

We had a wonderful time. Your neighbors are very nice and several took the time to talk with us. Made us feel very at home. The only reason I only gave a 3 star for location is that some of the other homes were less they could be...overall the people won me over. Couldn't ask for anything better. Thank you for having us.

Very nice and central location

Had a little snafu with getting Code initially but finally got it. House was very clean and comfortable. Only issue was the WIFI not able to connect, and the Coffee was Keurig and limited K Cups available. Had it be known it was a Keurig instead of standard Coffee Maker I would have brought K Cups instead of Coffee for the Pot. Otherwise, very nice accomodations.

Wouldn't Know - Didn't Get the Opportunity to Stay

I wrote a lengthy review stating why we didn't get to stay but VRBO rejected it after several revisions. It all comes down to VRBO allowed a double booking. The owner was very nice and tried to help us out as much as she could but it all came down to VRBO allowing a double booking. My advice to anyone reading this is to always double check with the host to ensure that your property isn't double booked for your timeframe.

The worst rental experience I’ve ever had

So many bad things going on here but I’ll highlight the two that stand out. 1) the property owner is the worst communicating owner I’ve ever dealt with. I got zero communications about check in on the day of arrival. It wasn’t until 7pm on check in day, after already working with VRBO on a backup plan that she bothered to message me back with the access information. Her phone number is incorrect in the app and when called went to an older guy that had no knowledge of the property. I thought I was being scammed. When she does communicate, she’s rude or condescending. This is not a person I would ever want to deal with again. 2) the house was generally filthy. Dust and grime on all surfaces. Crumbs on the counters. We spent 90 minutes with bleach wipes cleaning all the surfaces. There were soiled underwear on the laundry room floor and a dirty sock in the living room. The washing machine smelled like black mold. The house smells like cat urine. I would never consider staying here again and highly encourage the property owner to reconsider some of her practices as a rental property owner.

Holy COW! 🌵

I’ve been going to Phoenix Arizona for many years and so overjoyed to have stayed at Mary’s lovely place to get to visit my sons and show my mother the wonders of Arizona. Almost smack in the middle between Phoenix & Sedona the location is perfect for day trips with lots of nearby activities to explore the beauty of the dessert. It was like being transported back in time (before Phoenix was overdeveloped) where the giant cactus on the hills seem to go one for as far as the eye can see and the Cows - yes cows roamed free. Free roaming cows and the natural beauty that is Black Canyon City added to our spectacular family trip. The house was very clean with plenty of extra toiletries in case we forgot something or ran out. 3 very comfortable bedrooms, comfortable couch, great kitchen and a fenced in yard with plenty of parking. The added comfort of an alarm system and outdoor motion lights really helped me and my mother feel safe during our entire stay. Joanna responded quickly to all of our questions - and was very easy to reach if needed. We immediately formed a special bond and without a doubt know our connection was no accident. Our trip was sprinkled with some “Sedona Magic” we had the best 3 weeks there and Holy COW became a new family slogan. Thank u from the bottom of our hearts - we were sad to have to go home - but ever so grateful to get this chance to be together. Thanks again Joanna oxo, Nicole, Josephine & family

Perfect place perfect stay

First time user of A VRBO, and everything came together exactly as promised. Property was the perfect location for us for our daughters wedding weekend. We were very comfortable with nice accommodations comfortable furnishings and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was peaceful and convenient. Property host was a pleasure to work with and highly responsive to any questions. I highly recommend Mary’s Place❤️ And would stay there again!

This is my parents hideaway, My mother passed away in March 2020, she loved this little home in. Black Canyon, They where pastors in Flagstaff and used this as a getaway. My mothers heart was bad, and the lower altitudes was helpful. She loved to antique shop in the the little places around Black Canyon, She loved the small town feeling. The warmth of the people in Black Canyon. She always wanted this home to be a short time rental. I had promised to help her make it one. Well after she passed. I had the responsibility of caring for my father, who has dementia. He loves coming to BC and spending time in their little love nest. So I decided the only way to keep it so that he could still enjoy the home and help pay for his care. Was to turn it in to a rental. I know my mother looks down from heaven smiling at how well it turned out. She loved having company and entertaining them.

Why they chose this property

You will love the cozy feeling. It is like coming to Grandmas house. This is not a swanking, cold modern home. It is cozy, homey like going to to your Grandmas… In this home you actually expect to smell cookies baking in the kitchen when you open the front door. The little trinkets you see around the house where her treasures. She would pick these up on her little outing in the BC area. She loved sitting on the back porch with her coffee… enjoying the BC weather and Mountain View’s.
