About this property
Sierra City Loves Falls Cabin - Walking Distance to Waterfall & PCT
Step out the door and walk ten minutes to the Pacific Crest Trail or down Wild Plum Road to the bridge over the Haypress-Yuba river confluence. Sardine and Salmon Lakes — and the entire Lakes Basin — are a ten-minute drive, with miles of trails, alpine swimming, and jaw-dropping scenery.
Back at the cabin, the great room is warm and welcoming, with a wood-burning stove and easy access to two decks — one framing views of the Sierra Buttes through the trees. Fast WiFi means you can stream movies on the projector after long days outside, or keep up with work if you need to.
The layout: Everything you need — great room, full kitchen, main bedroom, and bathroom — is on the main floor. Upstairs (via spiral staircase) has a queen and two twin beds in an open loft-style space, great for families or friend groups. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Lovely home in a lovely neighborhood. We loved taking the trail near the house to Love Falls and the home was peaceful and cozy with a well-stocked kitchen. Would definitely go back.
Nice quaint quite cabin. Our family of four was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and we made food several nights. The walk to the falls is about a mile, and you can also walk through the neighborhood to the river. The cabin was a nice home base for visiting the Lakes Basin area, Kentucky Mine, and Lost Sierra.
We had a wonderful stay, a third time in three years. It suited our family very well. The cabin was very clean when we arrived and well appointed with all we might want to use for cooking, playing a few games, reading books and a great binder with clear info about the area. Our host was very responsive with messages. There is lots to do in the area--fishing, hikes, swimming at Sand Pond--a bit of a drive and well worth it.
Lovely great room, fantastic for getting together with friends. Elegant and easy to access. Located just slightly out of Sierra City. The spiral stair to the upstairs is a tight fit, but we enjoyed our stay. One bedroom downstairs, everything else is upstairs. Great main room for movies, communal dinner, etc. Two decks to stargaze and watch the trees in the daytime.

So glad you were able to visit your old stomping grounds and run into some friends. Thanks for checking in with us when you had questions, and letting us know how thins went. We hope you come back soon.
Just spent 2 nights at this sweet cabin. We enjoyed our stay. The living room is spacious and comfy and is was fun to watch a movie on the big screen. Beds were ok, some not as comfy as others. The spiral staircase is a bit rough to get up and down, it's very narrow, but doable. We cooked one night and wished the kitchen was better equipped, had to improvise on a couple of pans. The location is good, close to the lakes basin and Sierra Buttes. The walk to the waterfall is more like 20 minutes but it's beautiful. Communication with Catherine was good.

I was very surprised by how unclean this place seemed. The carpet upstairs looked filthy and stained. Bugs and cobwebs all over. And lots of sticky surfaces in the bathroom and kitchen. Trying not to be too snobby about it, but for the price I would have expected a less “rustic” experience. Also the spiral staircase is nearly impossible for an adult male to go up and down, which wasn’t clear from the photos.

Tara, it is unclear to know if you are taking out your frustrations that VRBO was not able to allow you to cancel your reservation because of your late request to cancel your stay. On our end we tried to accommodate your late cancellation request but VRBO has a policy in place and would not refund your money. Sorry your stay was not what you expected but I am not surprised.
My husband and I were looking for a place to relax in peace and quiet. This cabin fit the bill. We enjoyed the large great room and deck. I was concerned that the cabin did not have AC and temps were in the mid 90's. However, we opened the windows at night and cooled the cabin down. It stayed cool throughout the day with the curtains drawn.Kitchen and bath were well equipped. Wifi was great. We were unable to work the Apple TV Projector as we are "technology" challenged. We did not try to contact the host for this issue. Instead, I beat my husband at cards. While we didn't use it, we think the spiral staircase would be difficult to maneuver for large people. Kids would love it.
Spent a wonderful weekend at Catherine's cabin! Check-in was smooth and easy, and the great room was both expansive and cozy at the same time. Would definitely recommend!

Shaun, thanks for the review. Spring hiking is on.please dont hesitate to reach out. We love repeat guests that we can trust with our special woodland get away.
We stayed at this house for our winter vacation for few days. The location was very nice, beautiful and quiet neighborhood. The house was very spacious and had everything we needed. Perfect place for family vacation in nature :)
Great place, great location. Main room was roomy and cozy. Owners were very responsive and extremely accomodating. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay very much. We ended up mistakenly taking one of their pillows home with us and they were very understanding and patient about getting it returned to them!
Loved our time here. Great room was fun for gathering and the dinner table made meals with everyone easy!
A little hot upstairs and in the bedroom but otherwise nice!
The house was very comfortable and the location perfect for a Sierra Buttes getaway; we were there for the change of seasons and the first snow. House warmed up perfectly using the wood stove. We’ll be back!

We are two Sacramento based families and try and get up to Sierra City as often as we can. We absolutely love the cabin, neighborhood and community. Every season has its charms.
