Spacious house in excellent condition on 3 secluded acres in Great Barrington, the heart of the Southern Berkshires, available for periods from 1 to 3 weeks (1 week minimum, 3 week maximum). Rural feel, yet only 5 min from the center of town and even closer to supermarket. Skiing at Butternut within 10 minutes' drive, Tanglewood 20 minutes away. Lee outlet shopping, hiking, antique stores, etc., all within 20 min. NYC and Boston 2-1/2 hours drive. Great Barrington is a charming small town with lovely boutiques and unparalleled food stores. Winter swimming and health club at South County Community Center, a mile away.

House features screened porch with teak outdoor furniture, barbecue, and deck. 4 bedrooms, 3 with queen beds, 1 with two twins. Spacious front and back yards, woods for exploring. Serene family vacation

My family (4 adults and 1 8 year old) spent a great week in Great Barrington. The host was responsive and patient with my many questions. House is spacious in a tranquil setting with a fantastic deck. The access to so many nearby towns provided plenty to do over the week.

We loved this house

The house is lovely and wonderfully comfortable. Big enough for our group of five adults to sit together and plenty of places for a quiet time to be alone. The big well furnished screened-in porch was our favorite part. The location is great. It's secluded and peaceful, but an easy ride to the places we love...lake, tennis courts, wooded trails, and restaurants.

Nice and relaxing stay

Nice house with every amenity you could wish for and a very responsive owner. Very convenient to town, Tanglewood, other sights. Nice screened in porch for relaxing. Can’t really walk to town due to distance and lack of sidewalks but it’s easy to drive a short distance to hikes and walks.

While no rental is perfect, this was a wonderful place in a great location. The house was very spacious, nicely decorated and equipped, comfortable beds and furniture. There were six of us with 2 others from nearby for a family reunion and there was plenty of space to gather in small groups as well as one large group. There was a problem with one AC unit but the owner responded immediately and the problem was addressed the same day. We made some minor suggestions to the owners who were open to feedback, but all in all a wonderful week! We heard nothing from VRBO property manager but as noted, owners were very responsive and helpful.

Space works well

Only issue was that the house is not on level ground and streets have no sidewalks so we couldn’t walk anywhere from the house. Otherwise overall location was excellent and space worked well for three adults and two small children.

Great Location, But Needs Serious Attention to Cleanliness and Safety

The house is in a fantastic location, making it convenient to access local attractions and amenities. However, our experience was marred by several issues that detracted from our stay. While the house appeared clean on the surface, a closer look revealed it was only superficially maintained. Every light switch and door handle was grimy, which made us uncomfortable. We also encountered a significant safety hazard—a rusty nail protruding from the porch door frame—which caused an injury. This is something that should have been addressed before any guests arrived. The bathroom was another area of concern. The toilet seat was cracked and missing paint, adding to the feeling that the property was not properly cared for. This is a basic necessity that should be in good condition for any guest. The closets were cluttered with piles of personal items thrown in disarray, which felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. The kitchen drawers were similarly disappointing, filled with random junk. Overall, while the location was excellent, the lack of proper cleaning, organization, and attention to safety is something the owners must address. We were expecting a more polished experience, and unfortunately, this stay fell short of that expectation.

I was willing to give these people the benefit of the doubt because one of them unfortunately sustained an injury and was unable to come. But I find this review pretty remarkable given that they repeatedly tried to nickel and dime me over the price (after asking to arrive a day early), did not pay for the extra day despite my giving them a partial refund, did not inform me of any of the alleged deficiencies during their stay (e.g., we would have had the alleged rusty nail taken care of right away), and failed to inform me that they had broken the microwave turntable. Our house is not a hotel -- we live there part time.

Delightful country stay

We're a family of 4 that lives primarily in NYC, upper west side. We were drawn to the Berkshires because Jessica works with classical music artists who perform at Tanglewood and Bill went to grad school nearby in Amherst. The Berkshires have been a place to relax and unwind from city life for us for 25 years.

Why they chose this property

We love the house and the area but don't get up there as much as we used to now that our kids are both teenagers. We're avid foodies and find that the Great Barrington area is incomparable for food shopping and farmers markets.

What makes this property unique

The house has a private, secluded feel. It sits on three acres of land down a gravel driveway. Yet it's a short distance from town and shopping. We have a formidable array of kitchen equipment, top quality bed linens, high speed cable Internet, toys, games, and many other things to make your stay enjoyable!
