New England Family getaway

Our family of eight stayed in this beautiful historic home for a week while we explored Newport, Jamestown Narragansett and Block Island. Centrally located to all of these we were able to explore the Rhode Island area with these. The home was very comfortable spacious and we simply loved it.

Quick family trip

Our stay was amazing. Erin, the owner, was very responsive, within minutes most times. The house is gorgeous with amenities that I haven’t seen in other places we have stayed. The beach isn’t far. URI campus is right there and is gorgeous. I would love to stay here again.

We had a wonderful time staying in this lovely historic home. The house offers everything you need for a relaxing stay. The yard was a great asset too. Our family had fun playing games in the back yard. We will be back to try the fire pit and roast marshmallows.

URI Graduation Trip

This house was the perfect location for us to celebrate our son's graduation from URI. It is a corner lot, right on the edge of the campus. There was plenty of room for us to have his friends over to barbecue and in the evening they enjoyed the fire pit. There was also more than enough room for our family to stay. The downstairs bedroom was great for our one guest who had just had a knee replacement and couldn't do the steps. The property itself is full of history and charm, yet with all the modern conveniences. We went to Newport one day and Mystic another - and this property was perfect, being right in the middle of the two. Erin, the owner, was fantastic to work with. I would stay here again in a minute.

My husband and I live 5 minutes away with our 2 children, dogs, goats, chickens, ducks, and honey bees. We own multiple businesses in the area, all sharing one mission: to create amazing memories for our guests. We love sitting on the front porch of this house with our morning coffee and watching the world go by.

Why they chose this property

This Kingston landmark has been featured in multiple books and publications, and is a significant part of U.S. history. Built in 1736, many prominent politicians and dignitaries have passed through these walls... including President George Washington. As you explore the house, you will notice many
original qualities that we have lovingly tried to restore as the years have passed and we hope you find
them as interesting and beautiful as we do. You will see the old servants quarters with narrow, private
staircase towards the rear of the house, the gorgeous wide plank, hardwood floors throughout, double
paned, hand blown glass windows, and even much of the original hardware still being used today.
Because these handmade, historic features come with imperfections, you will notice that the floors may
dip in places, doors may not latch perfectly, and windows may appear wavy or be difficult to open.
Occasionally, a loose nail will pop up from the floorboards. We feel these imperfections add to the beauty
and charm of this home and hope you do as well. If you are interested in learning more about the history
of this house, we have compiled historic records, photos, and news articles that we have included in your welcome packet and are so happy to share all of this information with you and your guests.

What makes this property unique

We hope you notice and adore all of the originally inspired, hand made pieces that make up this house, from the gorgeous trim to the old fashioned hardware used in the rafters. Sit on the front porch to people watch and notice the original granite hitching post and mounting block in front of the house. This property combines old world charm with modern comfort. Combine that with the convenient location and we know you will fall in love just like we did, and never want to leave!
