About this property
A marvelous house on the coast of Maine, just a short trip to Portland.
For a few weeks each summer, we offer our beautifully designed home to people who are looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature and the ocean.
The house is full of light and windows overlooking the upper harbor of South Freeport Maine, where you can watch the boats at anchor or the many ducks and wading birds along the shoreline. It manages to incorporate an open feel, with vaulted ceilings, with small and cozy spaces for conversation or reading.
It has four bedrooms and four baths, including two suites, all with heated tile floors. Gather around the gas fireplace for drinks or a book. Or sit and watch the world outside from the comfy chairs by the windows, or from the granite island's high chairs.
Just 2 miles from L.L. Bean and downtown Freeport, but a world apart from the crowds. 15 minutes from Portland or Brunswick. Extraordinary morning views to the east, across the harbor. Enjoy the slower pace of Maine this Christmas season with your family or friends.
Our house is available for only five weeks each summer, and two weeks at Christmas time, so don't delay.
We look forward to welcoming you to our house, which is our main home throughout the year.

Why they chose this property
We built this house in 2020-2021 on the site of our prior, smaller house, because we love the area so much. We're in a small neighborhood by the sea, with sufficient privacy to allow you to relax, but not so remote that you feel isolated.
We're a short drive to everything you need to experience Maine's terrific food scene, farmer's markets, beers, trails, state parks and quaint coastal towns. We look across the harbor at Wolf's Neck State Park and its many trails. Take a ferry to the islands of Casco Bay, or just sit on the deck and watch the slow-motion world go by.
Enjoy darkness - real darkness, except for the moon and stars - at night. And sleep so well.
If you're looking for long sandy beaches and an energetic night life, you can find them both north and south, but not here. If you're coming to Maine to relax and unwind, to catch up on your reading, walk or bike the trails and peninsulas, and do as much or as little as you like, this is the place.

What makes this property unique
This house was designed and built by us. It's red birch floors were milled in Maine. It's wide fir doors welcome you to every room. The kitchen and dual oven are perfect for those of us who love to cook. The house is heated and cooled entirely with heat pumps fed by solar panels.
The cozy living room, with its gas fireplace, is a favorite for reading on cool nights, while the larger living room, with it's ten foot projection screen and surround sound, is the perfect place for popcorn and a movie.
With two suites and two additional bedrooms, the house allows space for privacy but never seems to lose its cozy feel.
This is why whenever we travel we're always grateful to walk back into this house and know that we're truly home.
