We had a fabulous stay in Freeport! The house was clean upon arrival, and the views were stunning. The check-in process was smooth, and the property manager, Jeff, was very responsive and answered all my questions leading up to our stay. The welcome guide that Jeff and Jess put together was super helpful, especially as I was putting together an itinerary for the weekend. It was a short trip to Portland, which was convenient as well. We cooked breakfast once at the house and found that some of the stocked items were empty (specifically the oil), though we understand that was likely an oversight by the previous visitors. We had a lovely stay overall and highly recommend if you're looking to spend time in Freeport!

We had a great time staying at this property. Very clean, big, and great accommodations for a group of 12 females. The hosts were excellent, and super responsive. We would definitely recommend this house to others!
We had such a good time at this beautiful home for our family. There was so much space and such a beautiful views. We can’t rave enough the accommodations and all the little extras that were provided! Cannot wait to come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this property, as it was a perfect place for our weekend trip. Nestled in the woods with a waterfront view, it offers close proximity to the shops in Freeport and nearby downtown Portland. The owner was incredibly responsive and set us up for amazing stay! Definitely would rebook here!
Perfect location! Close to Freeport shopping area, breweries, and state park for hiking! The property is beautiful and the house is so comfortable and spacious. Would definitely come back if there’s a chance! Thank you so much for an excellent experience!
From start to finish, renting this wonderful house was a great experience. Jeff Jess are friendly, easy to communicate with and on top of all the details!!! The house was perfect for a group of 9 women hanging out for the weekend. Huge kitchen, dining table for 10, comfy sectional for morning coffee late night chats - it checked all the boxes! Thank you!

Beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood. Nestled in the woods with views of the water. Very peaceful. Home is large and comfortable. Will definitely be back!
We we in a bind and needed a large place to stay with some family andfriends for our 50th Anniversary. Jeff and Jess were great and answered all our questions. Place was very accomodating for our group of seniors. Gorgeous views and we loved the sundeck
We had a wonderful stay. The amenities were great, and the house was so spacious for the family to gather and also enough space for family members to find their own private spaces when they're reached their limit! :) The wifi is not strong, but this only encourages everyone to be present and be outdoors. After all, you are in beautiful Maine!
We had 10 women celebrating our 60th birthdays. It was a great house to accommodate all of us. Everyone had comfortable sleeping arrangements and we enjoyed the large living room and the screened in porch. We were able to walk to Freeport and access great walking paths with a short drive. The property manager was an excellent communicator and extremely accommodating. Highly recommend this house!
We needed a space for our group to celebrate a milestone birthday. The listing looked perfect. The large open living/dining room was the perfect space. There was accommodations for our party of 12 and everyone raved about the beds/rooms. We loved the view for morning coffee, yet it was so close to shopping and dining. The owners are very responsive and we enjoyed learning about the history of the house in their welcome manual. Lots of little touches in the house. Would highly recommend this space for your group.
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful and very comfortable Freeport house! It is well appointed, with everything you could need for cooking meals. Everyone in the group agreed that the beds were incredibly comfortable as well. The main space sat us all easily and comfortably for catching up. The house itself is in such a pretty spot, looking out over the cove. You feel like you are quite remote, but it such a quick and easy drive to downtown Freeport that it was easy to run to the grocery store and the main Freeport attractions. Wifi worked perfectly. Can't speak to the TVs, as we were busy chatting and catching up, but the instructions left were clear. Communication with the hosts prior to our check-in was prompt and easy. We would love to return in the future, and highly recommend!
We had a pleasant stay at this home. We’ve stayed at many top notch VRBO/AirB&Bs, so we were looking forward to a comfortable visit.
The bed was in fact very comfortable! There were only 2 of us, so we can’t speak to the other beds, but this is the home’s greatest attribute- it can sleep a HUGE group.
We were surprised that the kitchen was sparsely supplied- only plastic plates and cups, and I couldn’t find measuring spoons, e.g. There were a few items that needed maintenance, but they didn’t impact our stay and the owners were very responsive. I’d also say the sectional in the living room was rather uncomfortable, should probably be replaced soon. Our thanks to the owners for allowing us to share your home.

Hi Margaret, thank you for staying with us.
I wonder if maybe you did not look through all the cabinets (there are a lot). We certainly have many many plates/bowls/dishes etc. that are glass and melamine (we don't have plastic dishes).
Thanks for the info on the couch, we have this couch as well and love it at our house. We will need to have a look to see if anything is different at the house.
All the best,
Jess and Jeff
12 adult family members. Easy access, easy parking, Lots of room (common space and bedroom space) & plenty of bathrooms. Seats for 12 at the dining room table, more than enough outdoor areas for everyone to enjoy each other's company. Even though Hurricane Lee blew through off the coast of New England, the house is situated so that we were not exposed to the direct wind when we were outside on the deck. We just had to duck the falling acorns! Lots of hot water, very comfortable beds & linens. The electric cooktop was tricky for us to figure out (we all cook with gas at home!) BBQ grill burners were a bit rusty, but every burner fired up right away & our chicken wings were perfect! I would definitely stay here again.
Very happy with accommodations and location. Everyone raved about their beds and how comfortable they were.
Only complaints: If you plan on using the grill, know this. The grill has seen better days. Half of the burners are shot so cooking was limited to 2 burners.
We were reminded ad nauseum from the owner about Freeport's noise enforcement...and that policy will show up. It's too bad prior guests have caused this. This is more of an observation than complaint.
Generally speaking, it was as advertised and the owners made sure everything was well stocked.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay! The grill is new as of two months ago, so it's possible that an adjustment might need to be made to the burners, which we will do now that you have brought it to our attention in your review. We hope to welcome you again in the future!
Everything about this house was beautiful and comfortable. Spaces were clean. There were some problems with the wifi, but the hosts were right on top of it and quickly had solved the problem. Very responsive. The view is gorgeous. The house offers many different settings in which to relax. Would definitely stay there again!
This property was perfect for a large group and the beautiful setting provided many opportunities for activities and relaxation!

Hosted by Jeff & Jess Davis
Hi, we’re Jeff & Jess, along with our son JJ. We live here in beautiful Freeport, Maine and are the owners and operators of ProActive Properties. Since 2014, we have welcomed guests to some of our favorite destinations throughout Maine and beyond, helping families and travelers create memorable experiences together.
Travel and hospitality have always been a major part of our lives. Jeff is also the owner of ActivSport Travel, an international educational and sports travel company that has organized experiences around the world for schools, teams, and groups. Jess has an extensive background in education as a high school math teacher and has also led international educational travel programs. Our shared passions for travel, skiing, soccer, the outdoors, and exploring new places inspired us to create spaces where others can relax, reconnect, and make lasting memories.
This home is especially meaningful to us. We first discovered this property in the summer of 2014 while walking our beloved dogs, Gustav and Nelson, near Wolfe’s Neck State Park. From the moment we found it, we envisioned creating a peaceful coastal retreat where guests could truly experience the natural beauty, privacy, and charm of Maine.
We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do. Whether you are kayaking along the coast, relaxing by the fire pit, exploring Freeport and Portland, or simply enjoying the quiet surroundings, we hope your stay becomes a special and memorable experience for you and your family.
Please make yourself at home and treat the property with the same care and respect you would your own. We have thoughtfully prepared the home and this guide to help you enjoy everything the area has to offer.
Thank you for staying with ProActive Properties. We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Enjoy your stay!
Jess + Jeff
Why they chose this property
We live directly across the water from this home and when it went up for sale in 2021 by the original owners, we jumped at the chance to create a vacation rental property that would allow families and friends to enjoy our special part of the world and make memories together.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property truly unique is the rare combination of privacy, waterfront access, and location. Set on 3.5 private wooded acres overlooking scenic Harraseeket Cove and South Freeport Harbor, the home offers a peaceful coastal retreat surrounded by nature, wildlife, and outdoor recreation, while still being only 3 minutes from downtown Freeport, LL Bean, local restaurants, breweries, and shopping.
Guests can enjoy kayaking directly from the property, relaxing around the waterfront fire pit, exploring nearby coastal trails at Wolfe’s Neck State Park, and taking in beautiful water views throughout the home. Despite the secluded setting, Portland’s award-winning restaurants, craft breweries, live music, and waterfront attractions are just 20 minutes away.
It is rare to find a property that combines this level of privacy, waterfront beauty, outdoor adventure, and proximity to Maine’s most popular coastal destinations all in one unforgettable location.
