About this property
Gorgeous and Private Lakefront Home
Gorgeous, beautifully maintained A-frame with soaring windows and every possible modern amenity. The house is 2400 square feet set on 1 1/2 acres. Follow the path through the stunning trees to your own private beach on Lake Superior. Beautifully appointed bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen, newly remodeled spa-like bathrooms, a gorgeous dining room with gas fireplace and a charming loft bedroom for the kids, all combine to make this property perfect for your family gatherings. Lakewood Shores is your destination for summer and winter activities!
Please note: this is a NON SMOKING PROPERTY AND IT IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE. IF YOU ARE A SMOKER, WHETHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE, OR IF YOU WANT TO HAVE PARTIES, WE RESPECTFULLY ASK THAT YOU BOOK A DIFFERENT PROPERTY.
Located just minutes from the historic town of Marquette, Lakewood Shores is your gateway to exploration of the Upper Peninsula. Take a drive to Big Bay, explore Copper Country, or the Pictured Rocks Seashore. The Upper Peninsula has it all! Bring your bikes and cruise downtown on the bike path, or paddle the nearby Au Train river in a rental kayak, or just hang out all day on the gorgeous sandy beach that will be your private paradise during your stay! Whether you are a summer person or a winter person, you will love it here. The house is just across the road from world-famous snowmobile trails, and there is plenty of room in the giant driveway to park your vehicles and trailers. Marquette Mountain Resort ski hill is just 13 minutes away!
On the property, gorgeous woods, grasslands and wildflowers are home to foxes, deer and even a bald eagle family. Lakewood Shores truly is paradise! Although there is so much to do in Marquette, from shopping to dining and exploring the history of the area, you might find that you never want to leave the pristine beauty of the sugar sand beach. Take your ice chest and binoculars down to the beach and watch the kids play on the sandbar that extends far out into the lake while you look out for our resident bald eagles.
After a busy day on the trails or the beach, you will love coming back to the stunning home with breathtaking views from the wall of windows. Go into town for a quick pizza or burger, or prepare family meals in the fully appointed kitchen and then sit down for long conversations at the giant dining room table beside the fire. After dinner, there is plenty of room for everyone to choose their activities. Puzzles or cards at the round table? Movies from our large DVD collection or from your Netflix or Amazon account on the smart TV? Read a good book from the library in one of many quiet reading areas? Cocktails on the beach or the patio? Watch the sunset from the beach and build a bonfire? The choice is yours!
Finally, enjoy a wonderful night in one of three bedrooms or on the new and very comfortable sofa bed. Or, take a long soak in the beautiful tub in the master bath. Open the windows and let the waves lull you to sleep. In the morning, take your coffee outside and watch the sun rise over the lake. (That's right, you can watch the sunrise and the sunset from your private beach!) And then, start your adventures all over again. Memories of a lifetime will be made here.
Security Camera Disclosure:
We have two outdoor security cameras. The motion light above the garage door is also a Ring camera. In addition, we have a Blink camera pointed away from the house over the back patio. We only use the cameras for security purposes, and to watch for cute woodland critters when the house is vacant. We do not record or snoop in any way when we have guests!

About the host
Hosted by Shannon and Dean Bourdage

Dean grew up in Marquette before moving to California and becoming a firefighter. Shannon is a 5th grade teacher and fell in love with the U.P. and Marquette during our many trips to visit my family. She's a city girl from San Francisco, but loves the charm of the U.P. We have two adult boys who both love the UP. Our oldest graduated from NMU and comes back as often as he can. He is a true Yooper at heart!
Why they chose this property
We have been watching for a home in the Marquette area for years. Shannon was especially attracted to Lake Superior and Lakewood Lane. She's kept an eye out for a property on Lakewood Lane for many years and finally found this one. She loved it instantly. We purchased it based on the pictures and description by our realtor. We were happy to discover that the pictures didn't do this home justice. We plan to return as often as we can, but are making it available to others to enjoy when we aren't here.
What makes this property unique
This home has all the charm of a mid-century A-frame, but with updates where they are important. The soaring wall of windows , the views of the trees, and being on Lake Superior is amazing. Sitting on the beach in the morning and having a cup of coffee is hard to beat. Then ending every day watching the sunset..... it's a fantastic place.
