This location was ideal for our family reunion, offering plenty of room and cozy spaces to gather. The highlight was definitely the easy access to the lake. We are really thankful to find this home to create such great family memories.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The house itself was beautiful, comfortable, and a great place for our group. We appreciated having a nice space to relax and spend time together.Communication with the host was fair and we were able to get the information we needed during our stay. There were just a couple of things that felt a little unusual to us. We were asked for the ages of all the guests as well as the names of everyone staying, which we weren’t quite sure was necessary. Just to add and this may be a VRBO policy, but to charge for children 2 and younger I thought was a bit much. We had 2, 2 year olds and a 8 month old and were charged an extra 450 for these littles. We also received a couple reminders regarding watching the children and making sure they were safe around the property. We completely understand the importance of keeping children safe, but it sometimes felt a little more like being instructed on how to supervise our children rather than simply being made aware of any potential hazards. Since the home isn’t particularly child-proofed, we felt that could have been communicated a little differently.Overall, though, we had a good experience and enjoyed the house.

This is a wonderful location, right on the water. This house is nice and we had room for our whole family of 14. The host had plenty of water toys to make your stay more enjoyable. The lake marina offers free water taxis to different beaches and locations on the lake.BUT BEWARE! There is a 50 dollar per car entry free to the gated community that was sprung on us the same day as we arrived, the plumbing in the house needs work and the air conditioning wasn’t working correctly and went out half way through our stay. The owner had a tech out right away, but it wasn’t fixable during our stay. I’m extremely very sensitive to heat so it was uncomfortable seeing that it was 90 degrees outside and a house with 15 people got pretty warm by-the end of the afternoon and evening making a very uncomfortable sleep as as some of the ceiling fans didn’t work in the house.

1) There is a 50 dollar per car entry fee to the gated community that was sprung on us the same day as we arrived We include this information in all our listings (before anyone books), in our rental agreement (after they book), in our information emails (we sent several), and in the email we sent with entry codes (before they arrive). . This is a one-time fee that the Pine Mt Lake Association collects to help offset the cost of having a 24-hour manned main gate, 24-hour security patrols, maintaining roads, the private lake, beaches, marina, golf course, driving range, tennis courts, pool, pickleball, equestrian center, and other facilities, etc. Pine Mt Lake also maintains the roads everyone uses. The lake is private, and only owners and their guests may use the lake and its facilities. 2) plumbing in the house needs work Don't know what the guest is referring to. The guest never mentioned any plumbing issues. Things do happen, and guests with kids may have put something in one of the drains. If they had said something, we would have had a local handyman look into it and fix it. 3) air conditioning wasn’t working correctly I responded as soon as you informed me on Tuesday morning via a text message to April at 7:53 A.M. I promptly called back and scheduled a technician to look at the unit that same day. The entire Heating/AC system is new, as we had the old system replaced and upgraded in October 2025 ($14,000 ), so I was surprised when you said it wasn't working. Clearly, this was completely unexpected, outside of our control, and our response, along with the Heating/AC Company's, was immediate, the same day. You informed us about the AC on Tuesday, June 16, and the Heating/AC Company came out the same day. (They were very busy, had a full schedule for the next 2 weeks, and made a special trip for me.) When the Heating/AC Company came out on Tuesday, they checked the AC and said they couldn't fix it the same day, but they would come back the next day. They came back the following day, on Wed., June 17, and fixed it. On Tuesday, June 16, the weather in Groveland was a high of 89 and a low of 60 that night. On Monday, June 15, the high was 88, and the low that night was 63. In my experience, since we are on the lake and on the lakefront, our temperatures are several degrees lower than in town. The lodge is sheltered during the day by 100 foot trees. At night, the lodge cools down when the evening air is cooler, with some sliders (there are 7 of them on 3 levels) and windows open. The house does have a small AC unit in the loft, just in case. While it wouldn't cool the whole house, it does keep the loft cool, and the cooler air would flow to the lower floors. The house has some ceiling fans and portable fans to circulate the air for those who don't like to run the AC. Also, at night, with temperatures down to 60 degrees, the house cools off completely with the windows and sliders open. 4) ceiling fans didn’t work in the house We disconnected some fans for safety reasons because of the bunk beds, so if someone leans too far over from the top bunk, they don't get hurt. There are extra floor fans in the closets in these rooms.

Beautiful, spotless, and perfectly equipped! The home had everything we needed — quality appliances, comfy bedding, multiple kayaks and paddle boards, and clear instructions for everything. The owner was quick to respond to any questions. Our three-generation family loved being right on the water and not far from the public beach. Highly recommend!

Best Family Trip

This trip was a little family reunion for us. We coulndt have picked a better place. The house itself had plenty of room for my family of 28. The kids had a blast catching bluegill off of the dock, playing on the canoes, and hanging out at the beach. This was the best family trip we've had so far and we hopefully will book again in the future. Bill and april's communication was fast and helpful. Thanks for letting our family use your space to make memories that will last forever

This house is amazing!

We had a staff retreat at this house for the small nonprofit that I run, and it was perfect. The deck was excellent for eating and hanging out, the kitchen was well-equipped. The lake access was super easy, the weather was perfect. And the folks who own this home also manage it for rentals, and they are very friendly, communicative and easy to reach.

Celebrating Nana’s 90th at PML

We chose this property for our large family to celebrate Nana’s 90th, and it was everything we dreamt it would be. All amenities had been well thought out, from the comfortable beds, baskets of towels to handle a large crowd, and blankets for chilly nights and mornings on the deck. All of us enjoyed the water toys (well, maybe not nana!). We can’t wait to book another stay next summer!

Summer Fun

We had a wonderful stay at the house! Along with the amazing view, the kitchen had everything we needed- even enough coffee cups for all of us! Outside, we paddle-boarded, kayaked, swam, played pickle-ball and golfed. Inside the house there was more than enough room for the family to play games, read and play pool all at the same time. You won’t be disappointed!

Best family vacation!!!

Every year our large extended family decide a trip to nearby areas from Bay Area for the MLK weekend!!! As a growing family, we wanted a house that could comfortably accommodate 20+ people. This was a perfect house!!! Very well maintained and a beautiful area. This lake side property was an absolute treat!!! Our family had a wonderful time and we do look forward to coming back during summer to enjoy the lake even more!!! The house is well stocked and the owner was really very helpful!

Great family vacation!

It was our first time to Pine Mountain Lake and it was everything that we had hoped for. What better place to spend the better part of a week avoiding the heat in the Valley among the pine and cedar trees on the water. Lots of lake toys allowed for excursions to the public beach without driving as well as just going for tour of area by paddle. The best was that the kids just "jumped in the lake" for hours of fun at our own personal dock. Oh, yes and the house is fantastic! It accommodated the whole clan and offered some personal and private space for everyone. Thanks!!!

Great location to Yosemite!!

We stayed at Pine mountain lodge for 3 nights-our group had 11 total and the house was plenty big for us! The lake, paddleboards and kayaks were awesome for our kids ages 11-16 and the back yard area was great for them to get out and enjoy the weather. The marina is a short drive were you can rent family paddle boats and there is a beach to do some swimming. The kitchen was fully stocked and dining room was large enough for our group. There are only 2 TVs in the house but we loved it because we played games and talked !! We really enjoyed the fire pit on the back porch! The owner was very responsive and friendly!!

Family reunion

Our stay at this house was wonderful. It's a gorgeous home in a beautiful setting. It was extremely clean and well decorated. The pictures accurately reflected the house, and the owner was very helpful with any questions or needs we had. The kitchen was not only beautiful, but very well equipped. The views of the lake were very good. The dock area was very nice, complete with a paddle boat and a deck area for sitting and relaxing or reading. Pine Mountain Lake is just 30 - 45 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite which is one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. Our family went into the park several times for hiking, biking, and picnicking. I would highly recommend this home to both family and friends.

Spectacular Lake House!!!

Our multi family group of 7 adults and 6 children under 13 had a fabulous time at the Lake house. It is very well equipped, especially with lake toys and life jackets. Everyone stayed busy paddle boarding, kayaking and pedal boating. The boys had a great time fishing right from the house dock. They caught and released a couple dozen fish. The drive into Yosemite to hike is about 90 minutes. The kitchen is well stocked and so much great seating out on the wonderful deck. The beds, pillows and bedding were super comfortable. I highly recommend this rental. April the owner was very helpful and communicative. I look forward to staying again next year!

Family time

April, thank you for this fantastic opportunity to enjoy your beautiful home, having all my brothers and sister together finally after 3 years of trying to get us all together. Your place is awesome very comfortable for everyone. Everyone has been texting me and thanking me for a wonderful time. The one thing that I was grateful for was as the youngest of 8 at 56 years of age is that my brothers thank God have recovered from knee surgeries and were able to do the stairs that I wasn't aware it was a 4 story house. Yet that didn't stop them from going down and up the stairs to the dock for fishing every day. They were able to enjoy the lake and get to their rooms safely. Again Best Vacation yet, thank you so very much.

BEAUTIFUL property! So comfortable and relaxing!

We had 5 couples for an Elder and Wives Retreat for our church. This VERY comfortable Pine Mountain Lake property was the ideal spot for us all to refocus and refresh with the Lord. The home is well stocked with anything and everything you might need for your vacation. You can even fish off the dock and catch something, rent a boat at the marina that is within walking distance, or just relax in front of the fireplace. And the beds and bedding that are provided are EXTREMELY comfortable! There's no "one night to get adjusted to a different bed" and then you're good the rest of the time. You'll sleep well from day one! April, the owner, is also very kind and a great communicator via text, email or phone. She's quick to respond to any questions/problems you might have. In addition, she and her husband were very accommodating to specific needs for our group. Our group definitely intends on making this an annual trip!

Yosemite Family Vacay

My family had a wonderful stay. The property can accommodate a large family and the private lake access allows for convenient family activities. The host is very helpful and responds quickly to inquiries. This location provided a convenient option for access to Yosemite. The entrance to Yosemite on Highway 120 from the residence at the Pine Mountain Lake location was about 1 hour and 15 minutes with mild traffic. My family did leave the residence by 7am on the days that we traveled to the Yosemite Valley area. I suspect traffic would be much worse at a later time in the day. The restaurants that we ate at (Two Guys Pizza, Iron Door and The Grill) were all very good. The grocery store was also convenient. Guests need to be aware of trash management at Pine Mountain as with a large group, it would be easy to exceed what is provided. My family did make a trip to the Moore Brothers center to buy the large trash bags that we required. We then had to deliver these bags to the dumpster at a different location.

4/10 Poor

Luxury house with not so luxury service

We enjoyed our week but had to be very flexible with the owner and cleaning staff. Some issues with wet carpet from before our arrival left us with a loud dehumidifier running for 2 nights straight. On top of it the cleaning staff which is not even located near PML was calling to have us do their work with this dehumidifier during our vacation. Furthermore, the outdoor grill was completely filthy. We called the owner and the owner rather then taking care of the issue, asked us to talk to the cleaning staff. This time, they told us "Sorry, we were too busy to check and forgot..." "But it's easy to clean you just have to..." Seriously?! FYI, this is the kind of house(and owner), that has little(and big) notes written everywhere(above bathrooms, laundry, kitchen). Some are informative, many are annoying, a couple insult your intelligence. Still, we wanted to let it all slide and enjoy our one big vacation even if everything wasn't done as you would expect from such a high end property. However, to be told 2 weeks after you have checked out that there is a extra kitchen cleaning charge. This was, after the entire family including my mother in-law cleaned(and scrubbed) the kitchen for HOURS both the night before and the morning of our departure. Made sure we cleaned everything we were asked to clean before our departure, was the last straw. If you are an experienced renter looking for a top notch enjoyable lake experience, you might want to keep looking.
Response from VrboOwner on 4 April 2020
This review is untrue. I will address each concern; 1. Dehumidifier-prior to their arrival, we had a leak with the AC unit which got the carpet wet in the hallway downstairs. We used a QUIET dehumidifier to dry out the carpet for several days. If the guests were downstairs in the family room, they could turn it off while watching a movie or playing pool. The only thing they were ask to do was to let it run until the carpet dried out and to empty the water tray once a day. This was VERY SIMPLE to do, just pull out the water tray and dump it into the sink which was located just ONE step away in the bathroom. 2. Notification of damages-I tried calling the tenants several times after they checked out and they did not answer any of my calls. My number is not blocked. 3. Cleaners location-my cleaners live in Groveland. 4. Barbecue- I apologized if the grill on the barbecue was missed and suggested that the cleaners made an honest mistake and that I would talk with them about it, but when I asked my cleaners who have worked for me for FOUR years, they told they did clean it. 5. Our signs-we have notices on the counter in the kitchen that explain important details. The ONLY other notice we have is in the bathrooms. We ask that people not flush sanitary napkins down the toilet. 6. The kitchen was left very dirty, there was food and handprints all over the house/windows. We ONLY charged $20 extra for cleaning even though it took two additional hours of cleaning at $25 per hour. They also took pool table balls (charged only $17), and they left a permanent stain on the floor in the bar area (no charge). While it is true that his stay was not perfect and had ONE MINOR issue (empty dehumidifier water tray), he neglected to point out all the wonderful things about my home. And considering all the wonderful reviews that I have, one should question his accusations. It’s apparent that, in fact his stay was so enjoyable (he explained his extreme approval twice over the phone) that he had to grasp at complaints. Really consider it—my cleaners not living in PML or informative signs in the house…very unreasonable. Clearly, this review is running on emotions and not good judgment, but since he has no accountability, he can say whatever he wants.
