About this property
Rental Condo -- Tide Watcher
Eastport is an island community with a rich tradition and a bright future. There is so much to say about our wonderful vacation haven, we'll just share this feedback from former guests with you:
********************
'The Tide Watcher suite at The Commons has been a wonderful haven. The cares and worries of life seem to go out with the tide and to melt into the moonlight on the water. Tension drips from the tips of my fingers and I feel lighter. Watching the boats come and go from the harbor, reading Sarah Graves, and napping all feel so luxurious; slowing the pace to organic rhythms. Your thoughtfulness in preparing this place for your visitors has made me feel cared for in every way.' Mary, November '11

'It's almost like both time and Nature have stood still waiting to be noticed and embraced!' Chris and Ben, April '12
'The combination of the beauty and comfort of Tidewatcher Suite, and the magic of Eastport will make an unforgettable impression on you!' a Maryland family, August '11

Barbara and Dave on their honeymoon, August 2012:
We want you to know what a wonderful time we had in Eastport, especially at The Commons. Dave and I could not wish for a more perfect beginning for our marriage! The rooms were divine; you ladies have thought of everything and done the apartment with panache, to say nothing of our view! Dave saw a whale just out from the deck the morning we left. And thank you too for the whale watching adventure – we have lots of pictures to add to our collection. Everyone we met in Eastport was so friendly and helpful. We intentionally stopped in [another coastal town] on our way to Portland Airport – and we are so glad we chose to spend all week in Eastport with the peaceful, small community flavor. Thank you for all the memories. You have done so much for the beautiful town of Eastport – we tell all our friends about you! We’ll be back!

Judy and Wayne, September 2011:
Have to tell you – we really enjoyed our stay in Tide Watcher. Your well equipped kitchen was greatly appreciated and really put to good use. We certainly had our fill of lobsters and steamers.
I am so glad to have had the opportunity to get to know you all better. You make a great team! I was also glad that we were able to stay for “Paint Eastport Day.” I was really enjoying the challenge of painting outside – then the rain came! Never would have completed those three lil’ paintings without your help. Thank you for allowing me to take over your back deck – and – providing a table too. You saved the day!
We are still salivating over the smoked-salmon-on-a-stick! Have never had anything like them before. Delicious!! So thoughtful of you to remember the “starving artist” and her “instructor” on the back porch.
We look forward to returning to Eastport again next year. Thanks again for everything.

Shirley and Gerry, March 2011:
We returned to The Commons to experience Eastport in yet another season. What better place to experience the transition from winter to spring than from this unique enclave above the sea, with its ever-changing views and spectacular panoramas! The comfort and convenience of The Commons (nothing has been forgotten!) allowed us to spend more time doing the things we enjoy here in Eastport. This idyllic place is not to be missed in any or every season! Thanks again to the Women of The Commons for another wonderful stay! Please continue to offer this idyllic retreat to those lucky enough to discover it!

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Asante
Three partners own and manage The Commons. We have a gallery of local art and artisan work on the first floor, and two fully-furnished rental condos on the second floor. We opened our doors on May 1, 2004 and are open year-round.
Why they chose this property
We purchased the building in order to keep it in caring, local hands, then did a complete renovation.
What makes this property unique
You have the benefits of being in a walkable, historic downtown, together with breathtaking views to the north, east and south from your second-floor deck. The building is historic, but your rental condo contains all the amenities necessary for a relaxing, comfortable vacation.
