We extremely enjoyed the view from the master bedroom. Each night looking out over the ocean was breathtaking.
The place is very clean and spacious. Our adult kids loved the short walk to the beach and the pool.

Disappointed
The refrigerator smelled like dead fish! We called for additional cleaning but there is no way to remove fish smell quickly because it gets into the rubber gaskets on the door. The vinegar wash and baking soda helped some, but we could still smell the odor today after 3 days. We had no ice, and couldn't store anything in the fridge because of the smell. Overall the condo needed a deep cleaning. There was visible dust and debris on the ceiling fans and rugs felt really dirty. The bathroom rugs were not washed prior to our arrival. The view was lovely but we do not feel that we got value for our money. It was wedding weekend for our son, so this was not a pleasant experience.

Thank you for your review! While staying at a beach property, guests will store food items in the refrigerator, that may include fish. We do clean the refrigerator between guests and the cleaners did not mention anything out of the ordinary, however we sent a staff member and the cleaners back after you let us know you smelled something- once again we did not notice the smell, but understand some people are sensitive to smells. We do have a clean guarantee and had you mentioned the clean was an issue either during your call to us, or at the time we were at the property, we would have been happy to re-clean whatever you wanted. We agree, the view is amazing from the property!

Excellent location-needs a deep clean
A fantastic location right on the beach with a pool, parking for two cars, a really great screened porch overlooking the pool and beach, and an elevator to carry bags in and out on moving day. Overall I loved this spacious unit and can recommend it for sure, but know this, while superficially clean, it still felt a bit dirty and could use a really deep clean...for example, its definitely a rental unit, the sofas are stained, there is greasy dust on books, dvds, side tables, lamps, etc, while many were clean, some of the dishes/pans/mixing bowls had bits of food or grease on them, and the no-skid mat in the master bathroom is stained and has black mildew. The DVD player in the master bedroom has a sign which looks permanent saying the DVD player is out of order and I couldn't get TV in that room either.
VRBO said there was access to an outside storage closet with Beach Equipment and Accessories, but I wasn't left a key and when I called about it was told I did not have access to that closet, so no chairs, umbrellas, etc were available even when advertised they would be.
I'll say again, even after all this complaining, I'd rent this unit again for its location alone, just passing on my experience so others may be prepared. This was my first time to Pine Knoll Shores and I loved how quiet and non-commercial it is.

Thanks for taking the time to review our property. I read in your review that you called us about the storage closet and unfortunately, the new owner does not allow access. We will be sure to remove that from VRBO. This unit is very popular and does get a lot of use. I will mention the deep clean issues to the cleaning crew!
The home was well apportioned in terms of space of all the rooms. The master bedroom has one of the best king size mattresses I've slept on and had a fantastic view of the ocean as did the main room. The place also had great proximity to the beach (a 2 minute walk at most). Loved the tall table and chairs on the screened in patio as well. Everything worked well, which is/was a first for me. The name is a bit weird for the place and the mix of cat "stuff" with old american style was unusual but that's was just a minor aesthetic.

Disappointing stay :-(
Really wish we had been informed that the elevator is undergoing a major renovation! We managed to lug all of our stuff up the two flights but would have packed differently had we known...especially the heavy cooler. Between the noise of the generator running and the drilling machine that was blasting out concrete for 3 days, was not very relaxing. The view was nice, but we really couldn't stand the noise. Also seemed pricey based on what we got and the time of year. Be aware that they do not provide soap for the showers, or any beach towels.
Very happy with our stay. The unit is perfect for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children under age of 12). Unit is stocked with EVERYTHING you could need for a weeks stay including, kitchen wear and utensils and boardgames and books, owner even has a office drawer with supplies. It was very nice having linens included in our stay. The balcony has beautiful view of beach with no obstructions and is screened and has comfortable lounge chairs and a pub table for 4. The master bedroom window and walkout to balcony was awesome. Very tastefully decorated and pleasing space to be in. Our kids loved the bunk beds and having their own space and having a TV in their room. My only complaint about the unit is the room can have a musty smell, but I have sensitive nose. The unit humidity would not go below 83% and got as high as 94%, which made things hard to dry such as bath towels or hanging up beach towels after swimming. The unit could use a few updates with vanity, and tub (tub I think was fiberglass and shows it’s age). The shower heads were adjustable which was nice. The pool was very nicely maintained and the water was well taken care of. We missed on being able to utilize the storage area for beach gear since the key was missing. The only other thing that was frustrating was getting to a preferred grocery store was at least 20 minutes in either direction. So a “run” for milk was a 45 minute trip was frustrating.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Flying Catnip! The condo had beautiful views of the ocean and it was quiet and relaxing. It was very clean and comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our vacation. The screened in balcony was very nice. Thank you!
Excellent 2 bedroom 2 bath unit. Well stocked kitchen. TV, Bose Radio, game system, lots of CDs, movies and books. Wide assortment of Beach gear in storage closet. The views of the Atlantic from screened in porch are fantastic. The unit was very quiet. 2 reserved parking spaces for unit.
My family and I loved our stay at the Flying Catnap. This was our first time in Pine Knoll Shores, and we are in love...by the 2nd night my son decided that we would always be booking this condo. My husband agreed.
Went here for a nice week trip with family. The condo is very well stocked with everything you might need. It's super cute and in a great location. I would definitely stay here again and the property manager was super responsive.
