The house is a bungalow style farm house that was moved out here from nearby Cypress, Texas. It was supposedly the farm house of one of the Cypress founding families. The house was probably built in 1930s or 1940s, but was completely remodeled inside in 2017. The exterior received a facelift with new siding in 2021. The common areas are all open and roomy. It has white painted wooden walls and original hardwood floors. It is completely furnished and comfortable. It has a small entry way porch which offers views of the sunset, but the back porch is the width of the house- very nice to watch the sunrise with morning coffee. The pastures have cows and calves to watch too. It is very peaceful and laid back and would be a wonderful artist or author retreat or just a respite from the city and offers plenty of space for kids to play outside and see the stars at night. You will just want to sit all day. :)
Note: There's plenty of space to park a horse trailer. The house also has an RV hookup that can be used.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is great and the scenery is lovely. The cottage is so much more amazing in person. It's so close to Yogi Bear Park (less than 10 mins away). It has all the amenities you could ask for.
We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend.
This is my second stay with this bnb and as always, it was fantastic! Comfortable, plenty of room for my family, and honestly the best spot for a cozy getaway! Super close to the renfaire too! Definitely will make a tradition of staying!
This is a beautiful country cottage. Our stay was very quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed the big porches and rocking chairs to watch the cows and one morning there were 6 or 7 deer. Our VRBO hosts were easy to communicate with and always responded right away. We'd definitely stay here again.
Was in town for BOF beefmasters sale! Best bulls on the market! Place was Very quiet and peaceful! Every little detail was executed perfectly! Will return!
Great location! The place was close to our family so we enjoyed visiting and making memories. We relaxed in the beautiful setting. Karen was very gracious with all the extras in the home that made our stay comfortable and pleasant. She was an awesome communicator. The kids enjoy hanging outside and feeding the cows and I enjoyed my coffee on the porch in the rocking chairs. Overall, a great experience. Thanks Karen, we will be back for sure!
My family and I rented this adorable place to have plenty of space to relax and enjoy Thanksgiving, and we had such an amazing time! Karen went above and beyond to make sure everything was set to the theme of the holiday and made sure we had everything we could possibly need. My girls really enjoyed feeding the cows cow cookies and playing with the dogs. Thank you for making our holiday so memorable and perfect!!
An amazing place to stay, not too far from the city, to get away for a weekend of relaxing. The kids enjoyed feeding the cows and the openness of the property. They had the adults out playing baseball with them for hours, making s'mores on the firepit and watching the stars at night. Almost everything we forgot to bring or to purchase while out grocery shopping was provided by the owner. We highly recommend staying here and look forward to staying here again in the future.
Wonderful house on peaceful rural setting, complete with cattle grazing to watch all day and stars and campfires to enjoy at night.
So many thoughtful touches from the adorable decor to the ample cookware and dishes to the comfy bedrooms and beds, we thought it was our best girls trip location in 14 years of reunions.
Everything was spotless and well organized and we even fed range cubes to the cows with the provided suppies and instructions. How unique and fun.
Communication with owner was great as well.
Great value!
This home was more amazing than i imagined. This is a great place to stay when trying to get away from the city life. Everything was very neat and clean. You walk in and immediately feel at home. One of my favorite parts of my stay was getting to feed the cows. They come up to the house maybe once a day in the mornings, very fun. I would highly recommend staying here for a weekend get away or longer. Got to meet with Karen and she’s a wonderful host, very fast when responding and very helpful.
This was the quiet time that we really needed! Our grandchildren, 5 and 8, loved feeding the cows. I was amazed at how much the cows entertained them. If they weren't feeding them then they were sitting by the fence talking to them. The cabin had everything we needed and was very cozy. It was wonderful just sitting on the porch reading a book with no interruptions and just the sounds of the country. No city noise! Karen was a great hostess! Ready to go back!
First off, we have never rented out a home or property of any kind so it was a bit of a new and nervous experience starting out. But I have to say that the worries quickly subsided and the entire experience was just simply amazing. From the easiness of checking in to the very well organized home, everything was just perfect for my family and friends. Definitely was a perfect spot to rent for traveling to the Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission. We will definitely be returning next year. Thank you to the wonderful owners who were just so very welcoming and caring.
This slice of Texas Heaven really was more than we could have imagined. The host was communicative, friendly and so quick to respond. The house was perfect, cute, cozy and clean and so tranquil. Definitely a place to disconnect and reset. Plus..when we got there they had set out fun snacks, drinks and goodies around the house and had plenty of toiletries in case you forgot something. There were 7 cows as our neighbors and the host provided cow cookies to feed them!! Too fun! If we wanted to grill or just have a fire, they provided wood and charcoal. This was the best of Southern hospitality! We will be back!
Pictures do not do this property justice! Our family of 4, including 2 teenage boys, were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the home was. It’s stocked with all you could possibly need and then some! We enjoyed the outdoor sitting areas to spend time together during the day, and in the evenings we all had our own space to wind down and have some quiet time. We enjoyed the huge front yard to gaze at the stars at night time, sat around the fire pit and roasted s’mores in the back yard and also utilized the grill for dinner! Our favorite activity from the stay was feeding the cows, that was an adventure ☺️The hosts were easy to communicate with and checked in with us several times during the stay to make sure things were going smoothly. Lovely property, great hosts. Will definitely be back!
We arrived to a beautifully decorated house with lovely antiques. The place is spacious but with a cozy at home feel. It was very clean with an extra touch of good ol' hospitality. (Thank you for the smore goodies) The large picture windows overlooking the fields are not only beautiful but bring a peace we all could use these days. The front and back porches have plenty of places to sit and relax. The fire pit was put to good use with lots of firewood provided.
Kitchen was fully equipped with all we needed as well as the bathrooms. Beds were comfy with plenty of linens for the cold night(s) that awaited us. Air conditioning and heating worked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the near future. Oh, I forgot to mention MY favorite part, the cows! They were a delight to feed and my grandchildren absolutely loved them, too. Thank you for a memorable trip. Many blessings, The Holmes'
This was just what we were looking for to enjoy our holiday with family. Perfect quiet location to venture out to Brenham, Katy or any other day trips on your list! Yes, we had Blue Bell at the creamery in Brenham.
To hear the cows, dogs, birds, at night a few coyotes off in the distance was so nice instead of the concrete jungle sounds of horns and vehicles!
Karen was most accommodating, she fits the definition of hostess!
Thank you so much!
Happy New Year!
The house was perfect. Away from the bustle of town. The kids loved getting to feed the cows and pet the dogs. The house was very clean and well stocked for a cozy stay. We loved it!

About the host
Hosted by Tim or Karen Garrett
The land and house are owned by a descendant of Hempstead Watermelon farmers that had been farming the land for over 100 years on this and several adjoining acres of land. The land surrounding the cottage now is used for cattle grazing and a small apiary farm. The owner was born and raised in Houston, but enjoyed weekends on the farm when the "old folks" were still around. The land has now been passed to his generation, and he has retired out "to the country" himself. The owners have lived in and loved raising their family of three children in Waller County since 1995. The children have moved back to the big city of Houston, but the owners enjoy the privacy and slow pace of the country.
Why they chose this property
This property is a quiet comfortable place to decompress. It is close enough to Houston for a weekend getaway, but also far enough away to just slow life down. There are many quaint little towns in neighboring counties that are only minutes away that have a lot of Texas to offer. Plenty of space to park your horse trailer and includes an RV hookup for additional guests in your party.
What makes this property unique
Peaceful sunrises and beautiful sunsets in a private quiet country setting. Plenty of space and RV hookup for additional guests.
