Great Stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Check in and check out process was simple. The location was perfect, right along the river with a hiking trail just a mile down the road. Would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to be back.

Weekend getaway

This cabin is am absolute gem. Couldn't have asked for a better place for a weekend getaway. Right along the water with a gazebo on the bank. The cabin has everything you need to feel comfortable and at home while getting away from your own. Would recommend to anyone.

Great location on a peaceful little road in the middle of the park.

Very quite and peaceful location along the river. There was so much to so do. The cabin was everything they said it would be. The owner was great to work with.

We had a nice stay at this property. We enjoyed the natural setting. Easy to find and getting in was easy. It was odd to go directly into the basement. Not the greatest first impression. I would recommend moving the entry door lock to the top back deck. The house could use more TLC with extra cleaning. The basics were good but if you moved anything (ie:kitchen counter) it was yucky. My husband said he had to clean the toilet before use. Communications were so so but within 24 hrs. I realize they have lives too. Over all, it was a nice stay.

Quiet and relaxing

Very nice cabin to get away from it all. Central to National Park it served as our base to hike and paddle. It was a nice and comfortable place to return.

National Park Visit

Our family enjoyed our stay. Located on a quiet West Virginia back road but not too far from grocery, gas, and restaurants. Close to river rafting and not too far from national park visitor center. My kids enjoyed the board games and the butterfly in the jar. Kitchen was well stocked. Would stay again.

Rustic paradise.

Such a cute cabin, very clean. Has everything you need. The little cabana patio next to the river is great! We only had one night, and it’s December. So we couldn’t fully enjoy that, but we hope to make a trip and see this place in the Summer!

Pristine Cabin Right on River

We loved our stay here. It was more of a stopover for us after a long road trip and our first time in the area, so we drove around a lot checking it all out - but we wished we had spent more time at this cabin! Very easy check in, awesome quiet little road on the river, inside was immaculate and soooo comfortable and the outside almost modern gazebo on the river had ceiling fan and peaceful setting even in muggy August. Our kids loved the whirlpool tub and games.

Anniversary getaway

Where do I even start, it’s hard to really even put our experience into words! Everything about the trip was amazing and Chris and his wife went above and beyond to help me make this trip extremely special and memorable for my wife and I. It was so nice to actually be able to unplug and just each others company. The views and the cabin itself are beautiful and you can tell everything has been thought out with all the comforts you could ask for. We can not wait to return! Thank y’all again for everything!

Not peace and quiet

Property was nice , but could not access river from property. The next door neighbor was using heavy equipment from morning till night , digging out side of mountain. Very noisy, constant beep, beep beep with no stopping. We could not enjoy being out doors !

Family Getaway

The cabin was quaint and comfortable for the most part. However, there were a few concerns. The water pressure was terrible, especially in the shower. There were several exterior lights that were not working. Also, the gas grill was nasty and took quite the cleaning to get prepared to cook on. The ignitor was broken and hanging below the grill and the grease tray was nowhere to be found. However, we managed and enjoyed our time together, as well as the scenery.

Cabin was clean and very nice no complaints there. I feel that tbat statement it sleeps 8 is a strecth i would but more to say 4 or 6. There is a basement but u try to get kidd to sleep in a unfinished basements in a strange place lol the chesnuts in the front yard were bad kids are still digging them out of their feet n hands. No internet or phone service or cable, a grand for 3 nights i think u should be able to afford internet n a cell signal booster and dish or direct tv lol. Again kids live on this stuff now adays. I would stay again with out kids and only 4 adults. It was very clean and cozy just smaller than i imagioned. Its still a nice get away

We left early on day 2 due to a medical issue complicated by the lack of communication at cabin. There is no phone service “ no bars”. Internet service was unusable, Starlink is available and intermittently connects but is to slow to use, probably not setup correctly. Other issues with property - Living room DVR broken, TV powered by 20 ft extension cord draped over fireplace. - Bedroom TV broken, electrical power cord actually tapped up. - Overall cleanliness poor, inside has faint cat odor, decks not cleaned since fall - River access is a steep bank without steps or lites, bank fishing difficult at best - Gas grill igniter gone wires hanging down - property manager does not respond - Overall property is overpriced, poorly maintained and misrepresented - Ed Gabriel - 724-462-1647

Unplugged

If you are looking to unplug, this is the place! The cabin is clean; however, it is a bit small. We had 4 people and I can’t imagine many more. The room upstairs is a loft and you can hear all the noise downstairs so it isn’t very private. And if the couches are meant to be for sleeping, they too are small and would make the cabin more cramped. I do think that there could be a few things that could make this a top notch place. For example, a designated fire pit with chairs and a hot tub. I also think some games would be a nice addition. It is also very dark. The lights don’t provide a lot of lighting and so that did make it hard to see. There was also no lighter and so we couldn’t start a fire until we bought one the next day in town. Having that would’ve been a simple and nice addition. We also think a few more pots and pans would be nice. There wasn’t a 13x9 pan and so we had to figure out a way to cook our dinner. You definitely don’t have cable, wi-fi or cellphone coverage some come prepared (we forgot our games). We did hike and that was nice. There is an easy hike by the river just about 10 minutes away. Nice place. Just a few more things would make it even nicer.

Could be better

Most every VRBO location we have stayed in (I'll say, virtually all), have a notebook, flyer, or some type booklet/print material on property with host contact info (at a minimum) and property info. Given this property did not have wifi (which we were good with), accessing the VRBO site to reach the host was not an option. And no such communication was provided at this property So thus, when things occurred like a water system that did not work when power went out due to weather (power outage certainly not the fault of the host's) or a dryer that did not work (we had to hang wet clothes in front of the fireplace), we had no convenient way to contact the host for help/details/info. Even things like plugging in the tv (which required a power cord across the floor) would have been nice to have noted and explained. If I could have easily reached the host, my rating would not be this low. Things happen. But there was nothing to make that process friendly or easy on property. Again, this is compared to what we have been provided when we have rented at rates comparable to (or even cheaper than) this property. All in all, the experience and communication once on site could be much improved compared to other properties do who are charging this rate.

We loved the cabin! It was so relaxing to be able to have space to sit and enjoy the outdoors.**Important** cell signal gets tricky. Remember to screen shot the check in information prior to arriving We were 30 min from River Expeditions rafting, 20 min from restaurants and groceries. House had a lot of basics already. Highlight was the patio deck by the river. The only downside was the spring beds

Had a wonderful time on our vacation. The house was in the perfect location and private. We enjoyed kayaking in the river right in front of the house. There were hiking trails close by that were wonderful. I highly recommend this property when looking to vacation near the New River Gorge!
