AREA: Hootie Owl House is centrally located in Maggie Valley, with spectacular year round views. Less than ten minutes up Forest Dr offers easy access to area attractions.
We are just minutes off of the Scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and 30 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Enjoy popular attractions like the Biltmore House and Gardens, Blue Ridge Parkway, Harrahs casino, numerous championship golf courses, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, trout fishing...and much more. Antique lovers will be able to shop to your heart's content! Take a ride on the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad and visit the National Park. View the elk at Cataloochee Valley or ski there during the winter. We have excellent dining and breweries in Maggie Valley, Waynesville, and nearby Asheville. You will not be disappointed in the cuisine. Enjoy a day in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. Dollywood is an hour and a half from our Maggie Valley cabin.

PLEASE NOTE: Our cabin is located in the Maggie Overlook neighborhood which consists of a mile of gravel/dirt roads on a mountain ridge. The roads have lots of switch backs and a few steep drop offs in the sides. Big mountain views = mountain
roads so please be prepared! We highly recommend AWD for stays May-October.
4WD is REQUIRED for stays November-April due to the potential for snowy/icy roads. It is the guests responsibility to monitor the weather and have a vehicle capable of accessing the cabin. No refunds will be issued due to having the improper vehicle type for accessing the cabin during your stay.
Snow removal is not included but can be added.

SECURITY: We have a security camera that overlooks the driveway and the valley only.

PETS: Two dogs under 20 pounds. $100 fee for each dog. You must send pictures for pet approval. Pets are not to be left unattended.

HOT TUB: The hot tub has to withstand freezing and melting temperatures in the mountain climate and when something breaks it may take several days to get parts or technicians. Because of this our liability is limited to 10% of your nightly rate should anything fail with the hot tub equipment and we're unable to repair it within 24 hours. Our hot tub is cleaned and serviced between guests. Anything can happen in between. So let us know if you need an extra service.

Please take trash to the drop off throughout your stay:
Haywood County Solid Waste Convenience Center
30 Mauney Cove Rd, Waynesville, NC 28786
Only one bag may be left at the cabin on check out day.

Cozy perfection
This was such an amazing place to hide away and spend some quality time with each other for our 18th anniversary. This cabin was so cozy, provided comfortable furnishings, and was in the most beautiful location. There wasn't anything more we could have asked for and we will definitely return again on another trip up to the mountains. We got a little turned around on our way up the first day getting there. The hosts answered our call right away and walked us through our mistaken turn. This place definitely deserves its 5 star rating!

Top 5 private cabin
We rent a cabin in the Maggie Valley area 2 or 3 times a year and I can say this cabin was amazing! In fact, we rated it in our top 5 overall favorite cabins since we started coming up in 2015! There are so many great things about this cabin. We really enjoyed the privacy and view. We really found it relaxing without all the noise and distractions. We also really appreciated that they emptied and cleaned the hot tub right before we got there. Really the entire cabin was extremely clean. I’d really like to comment on whether the host was helpful but I don’t know because everything was so well set up that I never contacted them! We will definitely be booking this cabin again!

Dog Friendly, Cozy Cabin, Breathtaking Views with Gorgeous Sunsets!
We really enjoyed our stay at Hootie Owl House! We spent a week hiking around, exploring the area with our dogs and kids. The cabin had everything we needed. There is a great fireplace, and the reclining couches in the great room are very comfy. We enjoyed rocking on the porch watching the sun set over the mountains. The drive to the cabin was not difficult in summer. We had a AWD minivan that had no trouble getting there. All in all, we had a wonderful stay! Hope to be back!

We purchased this log cabin in the fall of 2021. We hope to use it for our retirement some day.

Why they chose this property

This is a newer log cabin in excellent shape. We walked in and were wowed by it. The view is amazing and the porch is 60 by 10 feet offering a great outdoor living space. It also has an out building that we plan to turn into a guest house.

What makes this property unique

The builder and previous owner used top of the line materials and fixtures throughout the house.
