About this property
Peaceful Mountain gîte with garden, BBQ and fire pit
Stay in a peaceful corner of greenery on the Prat d'Albis plateau, about 900 metres above Foix (a scenic 17-minute drive). Here the soundtrack is crickets in the evening, sheep bells in the fields, the rooster greeting the morning, and sometimes the distant call of deer from the forest.
Originally a small barn built in 1850, the building has been carefully converted into a comfortable holiday gîte while preserving its character. Today it offers modern comforts including a cosy wood stove, Wi-Fi, Netflix, a fully equipped kitchenette and a modern shower room.
The gîte accommodates up to four guests in two bedrooms with flexible zip beds that can be arranged as doubles or singles.
Located next to our family home and small organic mushroom farm, the gîte has its own entrance and private garden, allowing guests to enjoy complete privacy while still experiencing the atmosphere of rural mountain life.
Outside, the garden with barbecue and fire pit is perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the Pyrenees.
The location is ideal for discovering the rich history and landscapes of Ariège. Nearby you can explore famous Cathar castles such as Montségur, wander through historic villages, hike or cycle in the surrounding mountains, or even try paragliding from the Prat d’Albis plateau.
To make your stay even more enjoyable, we offer optional breakfast baskets, fresh bread and simple evening platters, as well as seasonal extras such as family Easter egg hunts or Halloween activity kits for children on rainy days.
With direct access to nature and outdoor activities, the gîte is an ideal place to recharge and discover this beautiful corner of the Pyrenees.

About the host
Hosted by Lani Fourie
We are a family with Belgian and South African roots who traded the fast-paced life of a Belgian city for the tranquility of the French Pyrenees. Here, amidst breathtaking landscapes, we’ve embraced a slower, more intentional way of living, transforming an old farmhouse into a welcoming haven where nature takes center stage.
Hospitality is close to our hearts. We love hosting and creating unforgettable memories for our guests. It's very rewarding to share this magical corner of the world and offering a space where people can reconnect with the wholesomeness of nature.
We look forward to welcoming you to our slice of paradise and sharing this unique lifestyle with you. Whether you’re seeking a serene getaway or an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, our home is a place to unwind, reconnect, and create beautiful memories.
