About this property

White Mountains Victorian on Main Street

Our Victorian home, built in 1902, is on Main Street in the quaint town of Gorham, New Hampshire. Situated 8 miles north of Mt. Washington, this is a prime location for everything outdoors: year round HIKING, (1.7 miles to AT) & BIKING trails, 100s of groomed ATV/snowmobile trails, swim, fish, canoe, kayak and tube the pristine rivers, waterfalls & emerald pools and SKI THE SKI RESORTS within 10-30 miles. The small town of Gorham caters to tourists with a dozen great restaurants, antique & gift shops, railroad museum, opera house & town common - all within easy walking distance of the house.
The spacious one bedroom apartment is on the second floor of Victorian home. A private front porch with bistro table leads into a private foyer with antique decor, deacon's bench and coat closet. Walk up the original maple staircase to the tastefully decorated - with comfort in mind - one bedroom apartment.
The bedroom has a queen size bed, side chair, large closet and dresser. The large living room has an Ethan Allen couch with full-size pull-out bed. Mattress pad and topper make this bed feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. The coffee table rises to double as a desk if desired. Comfy matching reclining chairs for watching Roku TV, reading a book off the book shelf or taking a snooze. The spacious kitchen is furnished with a table and chairs, a coffee & tea bar, plenty of cookware and basic seasonings, oils and condiments. The full bath with shower/tub comes with towels, soap and shampoo, hair dryer and cabinets for storage.
Relax on Adirondack chairs in the backyard overlooking the Androscoggin River. The one bedroom unit comes with parking for two vehicles, steps from the front porch.

About the host

Originally from Massachusetts, I grew up enjoying the outdoors - nature, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, skiing and kayaking, to name a few. Purchasing and restoring a Victorian home on the Androscoggin River in Gorham, New Hampshire came out of the blue and has been kind of a whirlwind. The White Mountains are a world away from LA, but the White Mountains are where I strapped on my first set of skis and lugged my first backpack, so I am finding this transition quite enjoyable. I spend most of my time here, now.

Why they chose this property

Perfect location for year-around outdoor activities that I enjoy. The Victorian home has retained much of its beauty from 1902, including original woodwork. The property is on Main Street, Gorham, a small, friendly town with quite a few great restaurants that I can walk to. The backyard is on the Androscoggin River.

What makes this property unique

A beautiful Victorian home with a Birch tree-lined river in the backyard.
