About this property

Oriel House - Stunning property with breathtaking views of Warkworth Castle

Whisk yourself away to Oriel House in the beautiful, historic village of Warkworth on the breathtaking North Northumberland Coast.

Set in the picturesque coastal village of Warkworth, with its artisan shops, cafes and gastro pubs, Oriel House enjoys an exceptional setting within this beautiful village, directly opposite the majestic medieval Warkworth Castle.

This stunning period home has arguably one of the best views in the village and is fully equipped to be your perfect home from home.

In an exceptional location the property enjoys uninterrupted views of Warkworth Castle, which sits directly in front of the house, just across the road. The house sleeps up to 4 guests in 2 ensuite bedrooms, with super king and king beds.

On the ground floor there is a spacious lounge with stunning sandstone inglenook fireplace and gas stove. Seating for five. Smart TV, with complimentary Netflix. Unlimited wifi throughout.

There is a beautiful large, light and airy kitchen diner with seating for six. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need for your stay. There is an electric oven, induction hob, fridge, freezer, slimline dishwasher and washing machine. Kettle, Tassimo coffee machine, microwave oven and toaster. The exposed sandstone walls in the kitchen are truly gorgeous and are an indication of the age of this stunning period property.

Upstairs are the two bedrooms. The master suite bedroom to the front of the property has two windows both with uninterrupted views of the Castle. There is a beautiful window seat in the oriel window, a perfect place to curl up and take in the breathtaking view.

The master suite has a sitting area, super king bed, ample storage and 55 inch wall-mounted smart TV with complimentary Netflix. A large en suite bathroom with deep freestanding soak bath, walk in shower with drench shower head, basin, wc and beautiful shiplap panelling.

The second bedroom to the rear of the property, with kingsize bed, has beautiful views of the surrounding gardens. This room also has an ensuite bathroom with spacious walk-in shower with drench shower head, wc and vanity basin.
On the ground floor there is an additional wc.

There is free on-street parking in resident parking bays outside the house. This is on a first come first serve basis but is usually plentiful. Please note although in a village setting Oriel House is set back from the road however the property has noise reducing acoustic double glazed windows throughout to reduce possible road noise. Warkworth Beach is a 15 minute walk from the house.

The garden to the rear of Oriel house is strictly not for guest use but with the beautiful grassy banks of Warkworth Castle on your doorstep, why not take a bottle over the road and sit at the foot of the majestic medieval castle. Or pack up a picnic and relax on one of the many benches along the River Coquet that loops around the castle. There are many walks on the doorstep for all abilities, inside the property you will find lots of local walk suggestions as well as maps of the area.

Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to look at my properties. My name is Grace. I work part-time as a nurse and the rest of the time I work as an interior designer, specialising in holiday rentals and staging homes to sell. I grew up in Northumberland and love the coast!

Why they chose this property

Firstly, I hope you have a wonderful stay and that you love Warkworth and Oriel House as much as I do.

I grew up in Warkworth with my two siblings and love the village. When I bought Oriel House it had been vacant for a number of years and needed a lot of TLC! I have walked past this beautiful house thousands of times growing up in the village and always wondered about that view!

When I came for the house viewing, even after seeing the magnificent Castle everyday, I was still blown away with the views from the front windows, especially from the oriel window in the master bedroom!

Despite needing a lot of work, I could see the potential in the property so purchased Oriel House in the summer of 2020. The house has undergone major renovations since then and opened its doors to guests in April 2021. The renovations included opening up the kitchen and dining room, to create a dining kitchen, the creation of two ensuite bathrooms, a new cloakroom and full redecoration. Originally, the house consisted of three bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. A dark dingy lounge, L-shaped kitchen and small dining room downstairs. The house had a very bizarre layout with under-utilised space. I therefore decided to bite the bullet and start the planning application for the renovation. Fast forward a lot of long days and late nights with power tools. A heck of a lot of dust, debris and this is the end result.

I really hope you love your home away from home and have a fabulous holiday here in beautiful Warkworth.

What makes this property unique

The location of the house and the views were what really drew me in. Every time I go into the master bedroom I have to sit on the cosy window seat in the oriel window and look at the castle.
