Perfect for us! Grandparents and one 10 year old grandchild. He loved playing in the creek, waterfall and large yard. We enjoyed the spa and watching him.(Lol) Size of the house was just right, and clean. Took a minute to get used to the mattresses (we are used to foam), but we slept well. Within 30-60 minutes of places we wanted to visit. A really good diner just down the road. Food Lion about 10-15 minutes, walmart about 20-30. Everthing we needed. Would definitely return!

Honestly I always feel uneasy when I pick rentals online. We have had a few that were not so great. But the Browns cabin was perfect.

Cozy and quaint

Absolutely adorable cabin in every way. Nicely equipped and furnished. Exceptionally clean. Great communication with owner. Location was not what we were expecting from VRBO information but did not take anything away from our visit. Totally would recommend.

Serenity

This was our 2nd visit to Brown's Cozy Cabin and we're looking forward to going back again. This cozy, secluded cabin is very clean, the bed is comfortable and the kitchen has well equipped and the hot tub was wonderful after a day of enjoying the beautiful Smoky's on the motorcycle. We will definitely be back and Highly recommend this beautiful property.

Fantastic weekend retreat

Took the family up for a 4 day easter trip. The pictures of the stream out back don't do it justice, it's magnificent! Great hiking in the area. We took a day trip to Bryson city and had a great time hiking and checking out the town. The house had everything you would need, and the hot tub got a lot of use. Great stay overall

Perfect Mountain Stay

My wife and I are retired and travel with our dog. We were looking for a pet friendly cabin around Waynesville, NC and this was perfect for us. It is tastefully decorated and furnished and located 30 minutes or less from Waynesville and Asheville, NC. It is on a level lot but has nice views and a small stream running alongside. It was quiet and very relaxing for all three of us. We highly recommended it and hope to visit again soon.

Quick Family Trip

This property blew us away! It was the perfect cozy spot for our little family! We brought our soon to be 1 year old (August 4th) and the cabin made us feel like we were at home! She was able to explore around the house safely and we loved having gates on the back porch! This was a very special and a major memorable trip for us, we celebrated our anniversary, our sweet girls first birthday, my recovery from a bad horse accident in February and to have a spot that made us feel so at home when we were so far from our farm and animals! We will definitely be booking again next year and hope to come back year after year!

wow great vacation

It was a darn near perfect stay. Exception was no cell service,(but we were in the mountains) and a little more traffic noise than we were expecting. Otherwise we had everything we wanted for a relaxing time to explore beautiful NC. Thank you for offering a great cabin in the mountains. We recommend Browns cozy cabin to all

Little piece of heaven

My fiance and I stayed here for 4 days with our pup. The location could not be more perfect. The views were beautiful and the waterfall in the backyard is a plus. We rode the rattler which was right down the street to our surprise! The cabin was very clean and the hot tub was always relaxing.. definately will be back!! Thankyou again for letting us bring our pup. It was greatly appreciated 😊

Wonderful cabin

Nice place to chill out. Plenty to do close by, but we needed a place to enjoy outdoor life that was cooler than our home. Front porch was perfect. We loved the cows and birds. Back outdoor space was lovely also. Kitchen had everything we needed, except spices, cooking oil/spray. But Kathy’s instructions were thorough so we knew to bring those items. She was wonderful, very responsive and helpful. We’ve stayed in many mountain rentals, looking for a place we would return to. I think we’ve found it. Thanks Kathy. (My only negative comment is the guest bedroom is small. But the dresser was good space and you could hang up clothes.)

Perfect getaway for a long weekend!

We rented the cabin for a long weekend away, and it was perfect. The cabin is beautifully decorated and well kept. We liked the feeling of being secluded, yet not that far away from stores and restaurants if we needed to get anything or decided to go out to eat. The location is great - several places just a day trip away. I was delighted to find bird seed, as I am an avid birdwatcher, and your bird-friendly tree in the front yard was a bonus, even at this time of year. We enjoyed the hot tub, and the ability to have our dog sit on the deck with us as we relaxed. The kitchen was well-stocked, and there were plenty of towels. We got . Kathy was easy to work with, and we got our security deposit refunded very quickly. We are already thinking about returning in warmer weather for longer than a weekend. Thanks to the owners for sharing your lovely cabin.

Our Disconnecting Vacation

We had a wonderful time. The pictures on VRBO were well taken. But those pictures gave us the impression that the location was not on a major road let alone a corner. Past that this was perfect for us. The kitchen is exceptionally stocked with everything you may need in the line of plates, glasses, coffee, pans, and utensils. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms were spotless. One suggestion we have for the host is really small but would have made our rainy inside days that much better. We suggest swapping the sunroom couch for the living room couch. The couch currently in the living room is extremely firm. It is we’re we watched movies but due to it being so firm it wasn’t as comfortable as it would be if the couches were swapped. We really loved the environment minus the traffic. The creek was so active this past weekend that it drowned out the traffic noises. We spent time in the back yard and got to see the beaver actively scrambling around and getting a snack on the water plants. I hope that it was okay for us to fill some of the bird feeders. We saw the van on the porch and just couldn’t help ourselves. We hope to be able to stay here again. Thank you for giving us the ability to decompress from our everyday stresses.

Convenient to everything, yet not close to anything.

If you’re looking for isolation, this might be good for you. However, during our stay, construction on the I40 bridge between the 2 exits led to endless traffic and loud trucks (even though signs prohibit trucks on this route). Obviously older GPS devices still show the driveway as the former road. Cars came to the dead end to turn around repeatedly. Absolutely nothing the hosts could have predicted or prevented!. At checkin we noticed lots of ants in the kitchen. Once we sprayed, cleaned up their food source (crumbs in toaster, under microwave) left from previous guests, this wasn’t an issue again. Being more of clean freaks and having traveled extensively, we move things and sanitize surfaces on arrival before we bring our things in. The dog bone and food crumbs under the sofa were easily removed! It is very hard to find staff that would clean as you do, especially for absentee owners. The bedroom window was left open slightly. At 13° our first night, it was a little chilly! The grill was not cleaned from the previous guests, nor was the fire pit, so they weren’t used during our 4 week stay. Grilling out would have been good. Luckily I checked before we bought groceries. Steaks at J Arthur’s were almost as good as home grilled! Basically we used the cabin for a place to sleep so it was comfortable for that. The old worn towels with bleach stains took us by surprise. I’d never seen anyone use items like this before. At the outlet mall, we purchased towels. The comments we had read online about the showers and the beds were confirmed, but no one expects to travel and have the same quality items you have at home. Every bed is different. However, even budget hotels require massage shower heads. The lack of smart TVs would be an issue if you’re looking for Netflix etc. however we weren’t there to watch TV! After reading reviews, I was a little concerned about the internet. We never had any issues, service was good. Overall this location is a great value for the price!

About the host

Hosted by Kathy Brown

Host profile image
This has been such a fun retirement project for my husband. This is a 1938 farm house that he has totally renovated. The home has a great history. He has gone in and remodeled and/or restored everything. All furnishings/appliances/fixtures are new. We love the Maggie Valley/Waynesville area where we have two larger homes that we built for our children and our 5 grandchildren to enjoy. We have made many great memories and hope to make many more. My grandparents always brought me here when I was a child and I want to have those same memories for my grandchildren. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We could have not asked for a more suitable place for a getaway. It has everything my husband and I wanted. You are 20 minutes from Maggie Valley and Waynesville. 35 minutes from Asheville and 45 minutes from Gatlinburg. We are located where you can get to anywhere you need, but, also can enjoy the peace and tranquility of country living.

What makes this property unique

Our home is pet friendly, extremely motorcycle friendly, we both ride, and most importantly grandchildren friendly. Great area to hike and enjoy the scenery.
