Thank you for taking the time to give us a review, we are so glad that you were comfortable and had a nice time. Come back anytime.
Nice cozy place with a working gas fireplace. Bed was very firm. I think it was a memory foam construction. That suited me just fine. Working with Gwendolyn was fantastic. Hope to be back again
Cute place. Comfortable living room. Quiet little town with the exception of the trains. Listing does state that there’s a train that runs through the town and by the property. Potential renters should note that the train tracks are quite literally 150 feet behind the bedroom and trains do run at night. Our first night there we were woken up three times in the middle of the night by train whistles and cars clunking on the tracks. Second night you were smart enough to take something to make sure we could sleep. Not sure I’d be comfortable sleeping with ear plugs in my ears as suggested by the owner. Owner was great with communication.
We enjoyed our recent stay at Gwendolyn's property. It was as described in the listing. It was conveniently located to explore all of the little local towns surrounding the area. One thing to note if you plan on staying, there is no sink in the "kitchenette" area. We rinsed our cups out in the bathroom sink (upstairs) but there is no place to properly wash. The "kitchenette" is just a mini fridge, coffee pot, and microwave as stated in the listing. I made an assumption that there would be a sink (my bad). We brought breakfast food but were not able to fix it because there are also no utensils. If you plan to eat or reheat food in the microwave, just be aware that there are no plates, bowls, forks, spoons, etc.

Hi Melody, thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are sorry that you did not find the napkins, utensils and plates. (They were in the bottom drawer under the wine glasses) we are very happy that you had a great weekend stay and liked the town. You are welcome back anytime
Other than train noise which we were warned about a good stay. Very nice historic area of upper chesapeake. Cecil county history is fascinatingmy family emigrated here in late 1600s so I truly enjoyed my stay.
Very comfortable stay within easy walking distance of restaurants, bars and a coffee shop. Wonderful front porch especially early morning porch sitting with coffee.
We had everything needed for pleasant stay.

About the host
Hosted by Gwendolyn Campbell
Bryan and I (Gwendolyn) bought the Historic home in 2015, I absolutely fell in love with it and the quaint waterfront town. The "Cottage" at the time was being used as a glorified storage shed. However in the past it had been many things, most recently about 2011 it was known as a small little Bar called "The Bee's Nest" then it became a small convenience store. When we first bought the property we did a quick fix up of the cottage and our son and his wife moved in and rented for a while. After buying their first home we were trying to decide what to do with the space. Open another store? Move my gift shop into the space? So Many possibilities, but we finally decided to open it to guest visiting our little town. We wanted to share our love of it with travelers/guest. It is a great little getaway location. Not wanting it to be referred to as the Bee's Nest all the time.(mine you we love a cocktail or two from time to time) We decided to rename property, Gwendolyn's Marigold Manor (Built 1902). ("The Cottage" was a shed/wooden structure as far back as 1920) The cottage did so well and we had to turn people away, we created "The Queen Suite" which is on the second level, front wing of the home. It it three rooms and has a kitchenette, so perfect for weekenders. Both rentals allow your four legged best friend (dogs only) I owned a little gift shop in town, and said to myself, why not move it to the Manor. In 2021 we opened "The Shoppe at the Manor" Carrying gifts/souvenirs and gourmet pantry items. All we feel that our locals and visitors would like to have. We are so happy that we took the time to look at this property, we feel it was meant to be, you see, we came to town to downsize, buy a little condo on the river, we said, ha ha ha. Instead we ended up with this beautiful home, cottage and property. We love our riverfront town and hope that you will too! Gwendolyn
Why they chose this property
Beautiful 1902 steamboat gothic home. We have 4 different units, The King's Quarter's Apt., The Queen's Suite, The Sunny Side Apt. and The Cottage out back. take a look at all of them. They are all designed to be an AirBnB not a Bed and Breakfast, so each unit is totally private to you. We are within walking distance to everything! Our Waterfront Premade is 500 ft. away! Restaurants, Parks, Museums, Coffee Shop and Gift Shops. We love our Historic home and love being able to share it with visitors and guest!
What makes this property unique
