Aix-en-Provence 2-floor Loft with Spectacular Views
Maison Lavende staff helped us with our bags and showed us to the loft. The loft was spectacular. I couldn’t recommend it more. Can’t wait to stay again. Quiet and relaxing. Cool and secure courtyard where you enter. Very close to great shops and cafes in a beautiful village. Spectacular views to Saint Jean de Malte church. Great kitchen and living room.

Liked: Location
Overall the space and the location was great. In texts with the property managers, it was stated there are a couple flights of stairs; in fact, there were multiple flights totaling 90 steps and no elevator. In the heat and with luggage, it was frustrating and difficult to climb all those stairs. Messaging with the host was intermittent, I never received a response regarding check out details. A significant issue was that we were told A/C was available throughout the apt however the upstairs loft mobile A/C unit exhaust was improperly installed and tubing was broken, so all the hot exhaust remained in the room, making the loft unusable in the 90F heat. My daughter thus slept on the sofa downstairs. The apt felt unprepared for guests because the ice maker was clogged with old ice, there was an open bottle of champagne in the fridge, and the towels were the worst I’ve ever used; they left unbelievable amounts of lint on our bodies, hair, and everywhere to the point that I was picking lint off my face all day every day. 2 days after arrival a repairman taped up the A/C exhaust tubing and promised to deliver a bottle of wine for the inconvenience but that never arrived (minor issue but added to the overall experience). Lastly, there was no hand soap provided in the downstairs bathroom. Again, great location and thoughtful space, but an accurate description and better cleaning/tidying would make the place more comfortable.
The apartment was quite lovely, with very good air conditioning in a convenient location for walking. This is a beautiful historic building with impressive 16 foot high ceilings. Consequently, it is 35 stair steps to the first floor, plus 35 stairs to the second floor, then 20 more stairs to the 3rd floor. With the 6 steps at the front entrance that makes it a total 96 stairs to get to the apartment-a workout. The listing was represented as having 3 bedrooms plus an office with a bed. We were expecting to have 4 beds, but there was no office or extra room. I would have been glad to sleep on the couch but could not locate a single extra sheet in the apartment. Parking was a bit of a challenge. Because this is a historic neighborhood, parking is very limited. If you are lucky enough to find street parking you will need to feed the meter. There is a good parking garage about 6-8 minutes away for about 26 euros for the day. We did enjoy the wonderful views, relaxing in the apartment and fixing a couple of meals in the well-equipped kitchen.
