Cons:The home was dirty, the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been wiped down and there was dirty towels in the hamper. Swept the floor almost immediately after arriving, swept up a modest pile of dirt and sandThe sink in the bathroom had almost no water pressure.Only one frying pan (with a wobbly handle) and one small sauce pan. The neighborhood was not bad and the location was central to everything! About a 20 minute drive to downtown CharlestonWould not stay here again due to the uncleanliness.

It’s a nice little apartment. Close to the airport and the credit one stadium, a little out of the way from downtown though. Great for a quick and inexpensive getaway!
Overall, we enjoyed our get away in Charleston. We were really just at the duplex to sleep and change as we stayed out and about most days. It was roughly 20 minutes from down town depending on traffic. If you decide to stay here I would recommend bringing towels as they only have 2, we ended up going to buy more.
The place was exactly as described in the listing and owner comments. The neighborhood didn't look so nice but the room itself seemed nicely tucked away and safe.
Inside, it was a very cute little place that was great for two people. The AC units and dehumidifier kept the temperature excellent! Admittedly the bed was fairly uncomfortable, but the host was very responsive and I'm sure if we had asked they would have accomodated somehow. But overall we really enjoyed it and it kept us close to the activities of Charleston without breaking the bank.

VRBO
The listing in VRBO did not convey that the unit was a duplex with shared wall and that it was in a rough area. It was also stated that extra towels and sheets would be stored in a certain place but none were. We had 3 towels and 1 washcloth for 2 people for 2 days We asked for extra but they were never received. However, the owners responsiveness to messages was very prompt

Not as Expected in Beautiful Charleston
The house itself was adequate, mostly clean. The bathroom had a dirty towel and 10+ half-used bath products. The bed was old and uncomfortable.
While the house itself was mostly as pictured, the area around it was not. The neighborhood is full of broken down cars and people wandering the streets. Both nights there were loud cars and people in the courtyard just outside the front door well after 10pm. As two adult women, we did not feel safe coming or going after dark. I would absolutely not stay here again.

Different strokes for different folks!
I will say the place was clean and it’s a short drive to a lot of places. The listing is accurate but there are some things people should beware of. After booking we got some information sent over which mentioned train traffic and ensuring the neighborhood was ok. I googled the address and could tell it’s not the greatest neighborhood but we decided to “roll the dice” as the other reviews were good. This “up and coming neighborhood” should of been described as severely impoverished. There were homeless people sleeping outside the one business up the street! I can say we did NOT have a bad experience with any of the people in the neighborhood. When we walked in the house we were hit by a thick smell of plug in air freshener. We had to unplug them and open the windows. The smell never went away. The bed was terribly uncomfortable, squeaky and was about 18” off the ground. There were trains blowing their horns throughout the night waking us up. We were told they run a few times throughout the day but let it be known they run all night as well. There were stains on the bathroom towels. The pictures really make the place look bright and vibrant. It did not strike us as vibrant or cozy in any way. There was nothing comfortable to sit/ sleep on. We wanted to be there as little as possible to be honest. My wife and I were on our 10 year wedding anniversary and this was a learning experience for us to say the least as we do not do too many rentals. We can at least laugh about it now!

Not what we were expecting
I want to start this by saying overall the experience wasn’t horrible, just not what we were expecting. We are the type of people to drive by and check out the area before checking in. I had messaged the host to let her know we would be getting in earlier than expected and she told us we could have an early check in because the cleaners had our place first on their list for that morning. We got there and checked out the place around 1 when we received a message the cleaners were at the house and we could check in at 2. We were parked in the driveway.. cleaners were not there. When we checked in, the place was not clean and we found an old baby bottle with curdled milk underneath the bed. There was also a scent of marijuana coming in through the bathroom vent. Our biggest issue was the railroad tracks and the airport that’s right behind the house. They don’t put it in the description as this would deter people from booking. In the check in process message they stated a train goes by 2-3x/day during the day but that’s not the case. Trains start coming through at 2 AM & will honk their horns. We counted 10 trains come through from 2 AM-4AM & that was every night. Let’s just say we didn’t sleep well at all this week.
