Tucked away in a charming Cape Cod neighborhood, this classic 2BR cottage sits on the lovely Mashpee-Wakeby Pond, which is the largest pond on the Cape and has phenomenal Bass fishing (contests are held here). It is also a 10-minute drive to Mashpee Commons, a quaint shopping area with restaurants, a movie theater, and grocery stores. Spend afternoons swimming, paddle boarding, or kayaking in the crystal-clear freshwater lake just steps from your front door. Three kayaks are provided. Or rent a boat and spend the day fishing, then tie off at the dock that can accommodate up to a 19’ vessel. A boat ramp is located nearby. After a fun-filled day, have dinner on the screened porch before enjoying an evening of stargazing in the large backyard.
The updated cottage offers all-new furniture and bedding throughout to ensure your comfort. A light-filled and spacious open living area has a comfy loveseat. Gather around the TV and watch a movie or enjoy a game night with your favorite people. The 120-square-foot screened porch provides a fantastic spot to spend time with friends and family and to spend lazy afternoons reading or taking in beautiful lake views.
Prepare your favorite foods in the modern kitchen, fully stocked with all the cooking gadgets you might need. Expansive counters offer ample space to prep and a bar provides a spot to perch while dinner simmers. When it’s time to eat, call your crew to the dinner table for a family-style feast. If you’re accompanied by tiny travelers, a child-size table and chairs are conveniently located nearby.
The sunny primary bedroom includes a comfy queen bed, a dresser, and a TV, while the second bedroom provides two twin-size beds, a fan, and a dresser. The bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower.
Pack your Frisbee because this backyard has plenty of room to play. Walk down the stairs to the shared dock and spend the afternoon on the lake (three kayaks provided), or kick back in the sitting area created especially for stargazing.
Take a 10-minute drive to Mashpee Commons, and visit local favorite Bleu, an upscale French eatery with a welcoming vibe that pairs innovative spins on bistro classics with a curated wine list. Drop by Mashpee Mini Golf for a few rounds with your party. Surrounded by trees and twinkle lights, the friendly crew and affordable prices make it a great time for kids of all ages. There is also whale watching at Barnstable for your enjoyment.

We absolutely loved our stay. The home is centrally located for seeking adventures throughout the Cape, while also being a peaceful house for those days that you want to stick close to home for a bit of relaxation and respite on beautiful Mashpee Pond. We swam each day as the lake was clear and clean. We will definitely be back!

Great Cottage
From the moment I arrived I felt like I was home. The cottage was so neat and cute and very well stocked with pots and pans even a big lobster pot to boil you up a nice main lobster. The view of the pond was amazing. The grounds are amazing and the lake was amazing sitting out in the backyard overlooking the lake every morning having coffee was the most relaxing vacation I have had had in a very long time.

Lakefront Cottage with Kayaks
The location was great. The cottage was cute and clean and the screened in porch was awesome! We used the queen bed and it was very comfy. We wish there was a real couch as a loveseat is small for 2 people to curl up and watch a movie. And the kayaks were full of water so we had to empty them before use. But we would consider renting here again.

homeowner occupied
The cabin was nice as well as the kayaks and fishing. We had two full days there and on the second day the Saturday after the 4th the homeowner who also lives on the property which we were not told had her maintenance/landscape crew come on our cottage with ladders blocking the door and in the kitchen window so they could clean gutters and used a leaf blower to clean so they could install mulch around the house while we were having lunch so we could not use the property. They offered us a late check out the day before this occurred for $35 we asked them to waive the fee for the inconvenience and they denied us and because we asked them to waive the fee they childishly removed late check out option altogether for us. We haven't received any type of apology and were told a manager would contact us but that never happened

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the maintenance work during your stay and for the way your late check-out request was handled. This is certainly not the experience we want for our guests.
We have forwarded your feedback to our local team for review, and a refund has been processed for the inconvenience. We truly appreciate guest feedback as an opportunity to improve, and your insights have been noted.
It was a pleasure having you as our guest, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future.
Quaint, clean house. Beautiful backyard that has a nice flat section for sitting and then slopes down to the lake. It was wonderful to have kayaks for afternoon jaunts on the lake after a morning of walking at the Mashpee Town Beach- which is connected to the South Cape Beach State Park. Drawbacks are 1) the property manager never got back to us with a solution to an issue. 2) the neighbor's house is very close and they have a TV on their porch which ruins a quiet evening on the renter's porch.

Enjoyed our stay very much
Not excited about Vacasa. We think we left a set of keys. They would not contact the owner. Charged me $28 to return them if found and never heard back from them. Cannot understand how they cannot contact the owners for a tenant
Not fair to the tenant or the owners. Very disappointing.

Amazing location. Could use a little more maintenance
This is rustic cabin style. Some furniture is dated and some breaking (dining room chair backs cracking and broken). This furniture was the same last year when we were there. It’s not updated as the listing shows. Could use more pots and pans, baking pans.
Wonderful to have kayaks and row boat available Would be nice if dock was cleaned occasionally of duck poop. It’s not part of cleaning agreement and we found brush and bucket and cleaned it ourselves since there were lots of poop on it.

Great location and property. Only issue was the shower (well) is on a timer and shuts off after 10 minutes. Not a huge issues but would have been nice to know ahead of time. According to the property manager they thought it comes back on after 30 seconds, seemed longer but just kept showers quick. Neighbors were very friendly and did warn us that due to a lot rain there was poison ivy growing by steps to the water. We were careful where we stepped and thankfully, nobody had any issues. Other than those two issues the property has as listed. Great location and very clean! Would definitely rent again if in the area.

COTTAGE ON THE LAKE
We were not very happy when we stayed at the Cottage on the Lake. The cottage was nice, but when we arrived it appeared it needed a good cleaning. There were musty smells and smell of mold when we walked in.
The advertisement stated there was air conditioning. When we arrived, the unit air conditioners were sitting on the floor in the bedrooms. Correspondence was a bit delayed. Finally a family member installed them in for us the next evening. A member of Vacasa came 2 days after we had been there to insulate around the air conditioners.
The screened in porch, which was the main reason we rented this cottage, was very dirty. We tried to clean what we could so we could sit on it. The porch was very peaceful and quiet in the morning. It was wonderful to hear the birds and see the lake in the morning.
We were a bit disappointed with there being no welcome coffee available for the morning. We got in very late the night before and unable to go to the grocery store yet. We know that it was not listed on the amenities, but most all of the places that we have stayed at least had a small amount available.
There were many chairs around the table that had broken backs and difficult to sit in. I had read a review from 2019 that mentioned the same thing.
The view from the cabin was beautiful! The cabin itself was nice. We were very impressed with the improvement of the outdoor steps down to the cabin and to the lake. It was very easy for us to get to both.
I'm sorry, but we would not stay here again.

Cozy lakefront cabin in the woods
We loved our stay. Felt secluded even though there were housed on both sides. Wonderful view with the leaf change. Cabin had everything we needed for our week on the Cape.

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Good location
We have mixed feelings about this property. On the one hand the location is perfect - secluded and lakefront - yet close to everything on the western part of the Cape. We loved sitting on the dock in the early evening. And our boys LOVED fishing the pond. (They used the kayaks and caught over 100 fish between the two of them during the course of the week.) On the other hand, the cottage itself is tired and dirty. If you have allergies do NOT rent this place. As soon as we opened the door we were hit with a pungent, acrid, musty/mildewy smell. We had to buy a candle to help mask the smell. My allergies were off the chart because of the mold/mildew. The couch cover and bathroom rug were so filthy we couldn’t use them. And the amount of dust and dirt on the screens of the the enclosed porch was appalling. The fans inside the house were covered in dust so we couldn’t use them either. There were no utensils for the BBQ (and the grates in the BBQ need to be replaced). We saw similar complaints from late in the season last year but subsequent reviews suggested they fixed the problems. We communicated immediately with Vacasa about the issues (and there are more than I've listed here) and was told someone local would contact us and make everything right but no one did. Instead, they credited the cleaning fee which was nice. This property could have a lot of charm, but it needs someone to care just a little bit more.
Cute cottage with a fantastic bathroom. Was so nice to be close to water and the tubes and kayaks were awesome to use.
