$30k Remodel Beach/Bay House on a canal - The Amazing Margarita Sunsets

This beautiful bay/beachhouse was just remodeled Feb 2024, with new linens, interior paint, stained decks, kitchen appliances.. 1300 sq/ft with a 300 sq/ft bunk room downstairs. An absolutely beautiful wrap around deck to enjoy the view of the beach and the bay sunsets. A wonderful groomed beach ⛱ is right across the street. The Galveston seawall is 20 min away and its only a 10 minute drive to the beach town of Surfside. Free boat launch at the end of the street, and you can tie your boat to private 200ft dock right outside your back door. We love pets and kids of all ages. San Luis Pass bay area is considered to be some of the best fishing and kayaking in Texas.

This house has decks on all levels that let you get out and see the fantastic views. There is plenty of parking space for you and your friends. We also have a few games on hand for the kids to play. We have a coffee pot, and a beautiful kitchen with all the pots & pans you should need. Dishes and cutlery are also provided. Lots of linens for you and your guests, also shampoo and body wash in the bathrooms. We do not provide beach towels.

Guest access
You have full access to the house, outdoor shower, fish cleaning station, private patio and dock. You have use of the gas grill. Charcoal grills are not allowed.

Other things to note
We are 10 minute drive from Surfside, it offers several places to eat as well as a Valero gas station stocked with sundries. Pirates Cove in Surfside has restaurant and often show movies on the patio. Galveston is a 25 minute drive along Blue Water Hwy and offers restaurants, night clubs, Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn water park, Pleasure Pier with rides and arcade games. Blue Water Grill is less than a mile toward Galveston and has restaurant/sundries as well. San Luis pass is 6 miles from the house. We offer early check in/check out depending on availability for a fee, please inquire when booking. No prom parties, Spring Break, Graduation or othe young gatherings allowed. 26 is age minimum to rent. If you have bed wetter’s with you or people who have ‘ACCIDENTS’ on our furniture we charge a minimum of $250. We have a beautiful house and would like to keep it that way. Please place soiled linens in laundry room. Failure to follow check out rules, posted in the book in the kitchen, will result in us adding fees to your stay. If you break something please notify us before you leave so we can address what is fair in fixing or replacing the item.

Overview
The canal we sit on is quiet and not over run with people. This allows for privacy and a nice environment to enjoy your stay. Beautiful secluded beach is across a Blue Water Highway which is walking distance where surf fishing in an option. Wade fishing in Christmas Bay is also an excellent activity. Fishing enthusiasts limit out on Red Fish, Croaker, Flounder, Trout, and Crabbing.

Getting around
There is plenty of parking at the house. If you have a huge group you can park on the road across from the house.

We had a wonderful time at this bay house. It is the perfect location for accessing both the bay for fishing and the beach for fun! Beautiful sunsets over the bay and views of the Gulf too. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had and very easy to communicate with. We would 100% rebook this property.

We had a great stay overall and really appreciated how wonderful the host was. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and they were incredibly responsive and accommodating whenever we had questions.The location is fantastic. It's just a short distance from the beach and an ideal spot for anyone who enjoys fishing or crabbing. We spent hours crabbing both during the day and at night, and it was one of the highlights of our trip.The home itself was tidy, but there were a few issues that kept it from meeting our expectations, especially for a newly remodeled property. The back room had a very strong odor that we couldn't eliminate, so we ended up closing it off for our entire stay. The rest of the upstairs remained very musty and we couldn’t enjoy it inside. Luckily, outside was amazing! I’d compare this more to a great fish camp.

Sarah reached out to me after the cleaning service had just left 3 hours prior to her arrival. She said that there was a musty smell and I gave her the combination to the owner's closet which has multiple scented options for wall plugs and moisture bags. I explained to her that this is a bay house on the water and most of the renters come in with wet clothes and towels. We do the best that we can to keep everything as fresh as possible, but it's also a very humid/hot environment this time of year on the coast. As you can see from the previous reviews, we've been over backwards for our guest. I guess there's just some people you can't please and she's one of them. Maybe next time she'll rent something in the desert where the humidity is lower 🙂

We had a fabulous stay at this fantastic beach house meets fishing heaven. From very easy communication with property manager/owners, attentive to last minute needs and checking in for any requests, to fantastic location for relaxing, birding, boating, fishing… and a comfortable space to relax after you sunburn from enjoying too much outdoors.

It was a enjoyable place to stay! The kids enjoyed catching crabs. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach. We enjoyed cooking on the grill every evening and enjoying the views. Everything we needed was provided.

The sunsets are off the charts at this house. The open view of the sun setting over the bay is amazing. The fishing in the fall is the so fun. Fishing getaway

We enjoyed our stay. House had everything and the location was perfect. We took advantage of the kayaks and did some wade fishing. Owners respond quickly and the neighbors to our left were beyond amazing.

Great getaway

My favorite part about this property is the location being directly on the water but only 300 yds from the beach. It's very unique to find waterfront Bay property with such easy Beach access. Furthermore, there's no permits or fees to access the beach and you can drive your car on it. Thanks for staying with us, safe travels!

Will return!

Me and my family came down to Freeport for a few days! This was a good location, especially if you like to go crabbing and fishing. Best part is you can do it right outside the house and you don’t have to leave. Our host Charles, was very friendly and answered any and all questions I had.

Perfect family getaway

This is in the perfect location; right next to the boat slip. Close to beaches, town, and restaurants. Galveston and the historical pier are right up the road. The host of this property was amazing, quick with response to all needs. My family and I had a great time fishing and crabbing right off the back dock, exploring and beaching. I highly recommend this property for your next getaway. A+!

Excellent property

Met here with friend for kayak fishing. Perfect property for our needs. Kayak launch immediately next door and two more just a few minutes down road. Stunning views of Christmas Bay and can even see beach from porches. Very clean, everything worked, easy check in and check out, great communication with owner. Would definitely stay here again!

Great views!

The property itself, the location is amazing. On the water with great views and access to big water is easy. The home itself is clean and very comfortable upstairs. There's also some extra bedroom downstairs. We actually accidentally cracked the stove top and the owner was quick to respond and gracious. I real pleasure to work with and took care of everything for us.

Quiet and relaxing time!

This was our second stay at the house and once again we had a great time. House located down a quiet street but the beach is about 300 yards away. Charles has always been very responsive to answer any questions. We will be back!

Great for kayaking and fishing on Christmas Bay or just relaxing on the beach.

Wanted to share the coastal experience with friends from Dallas. We were able to kayak/fish as much as we wanted then take a break at the cabin then walk/ride to beach to play and even catch a few fish jn the surf. The property is the perfect location so everyone was able to enjoy a variety of activities so no one got bored. The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the deck.

Great home! Lots of fishing!

We rent lots of homes 4-5 times a year. Really loved this one. My boys fished everyday! Home is very nice. Lots of space! We stayed in the bigger of the two. We will be back!

Great time with family.

The property was great, my only surprise was that the property was listed as 3 bedroom. Based on the photos I assumed all 3 bedrooms were in the main house. That wasn't the case, the 3rd bedroom is actually a laundry room downstairs (bathroom included). My family and I really enjoyed our time at Christmas bay and look forward to returning.

Thanks for your great review. Most houses on the bay and beach have a bunk room downstairs. It allows separation for kids if needed or someone that wants a ground level bedroom. We also keep a second washer and dryer in the lower level to facilitate all the laundry necessary between rentals.

Awesome location, great house, great time!

We had a blast! The house was nice and the photos in the listing give an accurate depiction. The kids caught a meals worth of keeper crabs off the dock. Caught fish in the bay and on the surf. That is a great beach and only about a 5 minute walk. Downstairs shower was very convenient! Most important things to me on a coast house - good AC & good water pressure in the shower and both boxes were checked. We'd love to come back here!
