The house used to be a Japanese retreat center so the layout takes some getting used to. Bathrobes would be a nice amenity to go from bedroom to beautiful showers. The view is fabulous, overlooking the ocean, from high on the hill.
Our family chose this location for our Christmas vacation, which is the first we have taken since I was a child. We could not have picked a more perfect location! This property is everything that is described in this listing and more! I was convinced the view MUST be filtered as it looks too perfect to be true, but it is exactly as incredible as pictured. The accommodations are clean and luxurious. There are so many places to lounge and enjoy a quiet moment or congregate with family. The theater room, the pool area, and the shared living areas combine beauty and comfort that I imagine is hard to beat. We even got a chance to walk down to the coffee plantation and purchase some exquisite coffee.Jason was the epitome of an excellent host, and he and his family/staff were always ready to offer suggestions, troubleshoot any issues no matter how big or small, and provide such a welcoming environment that I would give this stay a 10 out of 5 stars if I could!
We stayed at Kailua-Kona for a family vacation. For most of us it was our first time in Hawaii, and we were quite excited about our visit. Our family consists of my wife and I along with our two daughters and their families. Jason is an excellent host. We were greeted when we arrived with a walkthrough of the 11,000 square foot house. Access to the house was easy. Any questions during the visit were quickly answered. The ocean view from the rear of the house and from the pool are outstanding. The home sits above all the houses between it and the ocean. Sunrises and sunsets were very enjoyable. The kitchen is huge and very well equipped. There were two large refrigerators and plenty of utensils. The only TV is in the kitchen and provided the means for some to watch the World Cup matches when we were at the house. We normally watch very little TV when on family vacations In this case, with the 100 foot long heated pool and the hot tub, most of us would rather be in one of them rather than watching TV. There is a very nice theater in the home but only the kids used it late night as we would rather be in the pool or hot tub when at the house. While in the pool you can see the ocean, look at fruit on fruit trees the type of which some of us had not previously encountered and watch the wild turkeys out grazing. We have been doing family vacations for quite a few years and this house was better equipped with items you need including beach towels than
Everything about this property was amazing. Jason was thorough and assisted us with every part of our stay. It’s the kind of place you don’t want to leave- even though you’re in Hawaii! The views, the pool, the openness of the house, the breeze, the sound of birds and frogs at night… I could go on. This place was just - WOW- highly recommend!
