It's very nice and very cozy. We would stay there again. Connie was fantastic to deal with, she replied quickly and was very very friendly. The town's people were really friendly and helpful. 5 *****
The cottage was perfect for us, with several different levels to meet the needs of different family members. The porch facing the lake was great for morning coffee. The cottage offers several different places to enjoy a campfire, access to the lake with kayaks and comfortable sleeping spaces.
We loved: balcony, new appliances, comfortable beds, water in the refrigerator, the dock. We wished for: comfortable seating for 4 with tv, even a small area to swim, some bush trimming to be able to actually see the lake.
We had a great stay for 2 nights at this location. It is perfect for a family weekend, we even got to include our dog. There is a steep hill down to the lake but it is worth it for the beautiful view and a little joy ride in the kayaks. Bring fishing poles and live bait for the bluegill and bass. The host always had a quick response and we'd love to return in the future.
The home was cozy and had plenty of space for our group of 9. There is a steep walk from the home to the lake. The lake was so much fun and the view was beautiful, so it was well worth it. We brought 2 extra kayaks with us so more of us could go out on the lake together. Such a beautiful lake! For grilling, bring your own charcoal. There is a gas station about a half mile away where charcoal and firewood for the fire pit can be purchased. The limited kitchen counter space made meal prep a bit challenging, and we dealt with that just fine. For a weekend away with friends( kids and teens included), everyone had plenty to do and we enjoyed our time together.
GPS led us right to the A-Frame cabin. On check in day we had some issues with connecting to the WiFi. Connie (the owner) came right out and helped us connect. The house was very clean and looked like it was newly updated. Fully stocked with dishes, towels, bedding and just about anything you could need for a weekend get away. Would definitely come back if ever in the area again.
Clean. Easy to find. Hostess was easy to communicate with. The lake is down a fairly steep hill from the house but that did not affect our ability to enjoy the kayaks and the the lake. My 83 year old mom could not navigate the hill but she enjoyed the beautiful view from the deck. We will probably stay here again.
We had a lovely stay here. Owner was quick to respond with any questions. Thankfully we had no major issues while we were there. We had 6 adults, 3 kids, and 1 baby it was a bit tight for all of us especially in the kitchen area. The large sitting/living room & deck space were nice for sitting & hanging out. Lovely views of nature and lakefront. The walk down to lake is steep however. Fine for someone who is active and in shape, but would be difficult otherwise. Last thing was the baby space is not a room it is open loft space, which it does state open room, but I didn’t realize that until we were there. It wasn’t a good quiet space for our baby, but we made do with pack n play in other room. Overall great location! Close to Wawasee launch area, gas station, bait, and local shops and restaurants. Nice place depending on group you are with. Maybe better for younger adult crew.

We were told by the property manager there was a sandy beach for the children to play on. There was no beach. We planned on swimming and fishing but couldn't because the lily pads and weeds were very close to shore. Several boards near the end of the pier were loose.
A picture on the site shows a short, relatively level path to the water. Using Google maps measuring tool, the house is approximately 270 feet from the water and the path is very steep.
We couldn't let the children play any place on the property because the poison ivy was everywhere.
If we had known there was no beach and the path was long and steep to the water, we would have passed on this property.

No beach is mentioned in the listing or seen in the photos. I messaged your wife before booking that there was no beach.
I love talking with guests and have never had a property manager.
There are kayaks and a 3 person canoe free for guests to use to fish.
The photo clearly shows steps and a pathway to the lake. How do you make a stairway look flat?
I am surprised at your comments. I did not hear from you all week from the day you checked in. I live 5 minutes away and have a maid and grounds man on call to create solutions to any problem.
There is no poison ivy.
As adults we should take responsibilities for our own actions. When I booked a townhouse that only had a sofa on the 1st floor and no seating to eat meals; I blamed myself and not the host. I promised in the future to pay more attention to photos. Photos never lie.
My family and I stayed for a week. 4 adults one 10yr old boy. We had a great time canoeing and kayaking with the canoe and kayaks provided. We went to the nearby Syracuse lake beach. Grocery shopping in a nearby town. This house is cenetered between two towns. Both towns have everything you need. The house was clean and well stocked for guests. The owner is very nice and communicates well. You can swim off the dock, however there is a lot of seaweed that makes that unpleasant. The nearby beach makes up for that. It's wonderful to sit on the porch in the morning with your coffee or evenings with your wine. Very peaceful charming home. Great experience. I would reccomend it. The dock is down a steep hill. This was not an issue for our family but an older person may have trouble with it. The stairs go three quarters of the way down the hill. The rest of the hill is a path. We had a great time.

About the host

I found Lake Papakeechie four years ago and just kept coming back. They say when Chief Papakeechie get ahold of you, he never lets you go. That must be true, I bought my home here two 1/2 years ago and would not think of giving it up.
Why they chose this property
I love this home. Enjoy eating on the back deck where I can watch the lake and turtle island, while feeling like I am sitting in a tree house. The hoe has three unique living areas, so several activities can go on at the same time. There is a TV room on the lower level, a main living on the first floor and a separate sitting room on the second floor between the two upstairs bedrooms.
What makes this property unique
We have all the peace and quiet of a private lake with the big lake Wawasee 5 minutes away. Also lots of wetland and hiking trails are a 10 minute drive. See wildlife all the time from my deck. Like having a nature program in my back yard.
