About this property
Farmhouse getaway for family vacations and friend retreats - heated pool
Elmwood Acres is a renovated farmhouse with a heated pool situated among 100+ acres of cattle pastures and orchards. 4 BR / 3 BA in the farmhouse plus 1 BR and a half bath in the fully-conditioned barn. Enjoy a heated pool with large stone patio, incredible wide-open mountain views, award-winning sunsets, and 15 nearby wineries/breweries/orchards.
Property has plenty of spaces to reunite, laugh, and play. Great for family reunions, week-long vacations, and special occasions.
THE PROPERTY: When you pull up the driveway and look to your right you will overlook the pasture and see some of the best mountain views in all of Virginia. The view can be enjoyed from the pool, patio, barn deck, fire pit, and swing.
The entire perimeter of the house has screen porches or patios for long conversations, coffee, meals, and drinks among family and friends.
Behind the house there is a large, deep (6 ft) saltwater pool with a waterfall and brand new, large natural stone patio with seating for the whole group. Adults and kids will love it three seasons per year (April - October), as the pool can be heated for an additional fee based on the number of days/time of year (just ask for details!).
The kids will get lost with amazement in the detached barns/structures: the main barn with a bedroom and half bath, a small kids playhouse, and a big kids (adult) game room/man cave.
There is a walking trail around the property, abundant landscaping, and a fire pit with six adirondack chairs which always prompt long talks under the clear, starry nighttime skies.
THE HOUSE: In the house you will find the charm of an 1890's farmhouse.
Large kitchen with a 8 person dining table and separate 4 person breakfast nook overlooking the garden. There is also a 6 person outdoor dining table and chairs on the brick patio off the kitchen. Top notch Samsung appliances and plenty of counter space for cooking. Efficient washer/dryer adjacent to the kitchen to accommodate your big group!
The family room is relatively small but cozy with a high-end Jotul woodstove that will warm up the whole house on fall and winter nights. Still plenty of room for TV and snuggles, but you will most likely want to spend your time around the pool, on the screen porches to the side and front of the house, or the back patio.
Four bedrooms in the main house (3 upstairs, 1 downstairs), all good sizes and well appointed. Master bedroom is upstairs with a king bed and two chairs overlooking the pool/gardens. One bedroom upstairs is clearly setup for kids (2 bunks plus a twin). The third bedroom upstairs has a queen size bed and TV. The downstairs bedroom has a king size bed and TV.
There is an additional bedroom with a king size bed in the barn. The barn bedroom also has a pellet stove, wall AC/heat unit, refrigerator, coffee maker, and a composting toilet. The Barn is about 100 yards from the house. The barn also has a wrap around deck with views that will make you melt at sunset.
This property is perfect for family reunions, week-long family vacations, and memorable occasions.
Access to the property is secured by a gate. House is accessed through a key pad lock. Both codes will be provided by email/text before check-in!
You are smack dab in the middle of hundreds of acres of orchards (open for Strawberry and Blueberry picking in the Spring/Early Summer) and pastures (plenty of cows in site!). There are another 7 orchards within a 15 minute drive.
At least 8 wineries/breweries within 15 minutes (Blue Mountain Barrell House, Lovingston Winery, Devils Backbone Brewery, Outback Brew House, Blue Toad Hard Cidery, Rebec Vineyards, Lazy Day Winery).
Lots of hiking nearby too: Appalachian Trail, Crabtree Falls, Fortunes Cove, Blue Ridge Railroad Trail, etc.
We can refer a private driver if you prefer for day trips to the numerous nearby wineries and breweries...Just ask!
Pool is available for all guests and can be heated three seasons per year for additional fee that depends on the time of year (outdoor temperature) and number of nights. We do not seek to make any money on heating the pool, just to cover the costs of propane which heats it. If you are interested in having the pool heated, just ask!

We had a great time staying here! Everything was clean, we felt safe, and the property views were amazing! Beautiful home. Kyle was very quick to respond and helpful. They also made check-out a breeze. I would definitely recommend and stay here again!
The house was the perfect getaway for our family trip! There was plenty of room for all the kids and adults. Very well equipped for all your needs (towels, kitchen items, linens). Kids were occupied the whole time between the pool, playhouse, barn arcade, and outdoor space to run around. We will be back again!
Elmwood Acres was a great place to stay. The pool was wonderful, they put a lot of work into the inside to modernize the house while still keeping the “old farmhouse” appeal to the outside of the property. When we did experience a few minor bumps, Kyle responded immediately and took care of things right away. We loved our stay, and even went to Shenendoah National Park to hike with our dogs, found some great places to eat, and just had the opportunity to relax. It’s very dog friendly and Kyle was a great host. We would stay here again.
We had a group of 13 staying prior to a wedding. The house was perfect for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked and convenient seating for all. Make sure and read there is a fee to heat the pool and communicate this with the owner prior to your arrival. Beautiful scenery and many places to sit, relax and enjoy family and friends.
We had an amazing stay with 9 adults, two toddlers and our dog. It was beautiful, relaxing, toddler & pet friendly. We of course thoroughly enjoyed the pool but also the trails on the property. I'd love to come back!
The house and property were even better than expected! The views are phenomenal! Highly recommend making sure you go outside to take in the sunset over the mountains. We had the pool heated, and it was worth every penny! We also loved all the porches and outdoor spaces around the property. The house is well stocked with all the supplies.. including the extra stuff you wouldn't even think of (like a whole cabinet of well organized food storage containers for those leftovers, or an extra speaker to use by the pool, etc.). We loved it and will hopefully be back.
Beautiful property with amazing views! Loved the pool and grounds. Kyle was very hospitable and communicative! Perfect for relaxing with family and friends!
This farmhouse is the perfect place to unplug. The views, the house and the pool made our trip complete. Kyle is such a welcoming host and he provides everything you would need for a quick getaway. We cannot wait to return!
This is a beautiful property full of lots of fun things to do!!The pool is fantastic, the views are amazing, and the house is well equipped to host a big group. Kyle was a very helpful host. He quickly answered all our questions and sent all the house information before we even arrived. We had a great time, and you will too!!
Our getaway to celebrate our mom's 90th birthday was made all the more special by staying in this beautiful house. The property was lovely and comfortable, with ample space for 7 adults and plenty of indoor and outdoor locations for reading, lounging, and relaxing. We enjoyed the pool, the gardens, the birds, the comfortable beds, and of course the mountain views which captivated us every evening for sunset cocktails. The peaceful and serene vibe was just what we were looking for. Close by are lovely getaways into the mountains for hiking and exploring the beautiful area.
We have stayed multiple places over the last few years and this was a truly amazing experience. The communication with the owner was quick and helpful. The views were top notch. We had a group with ages ranging from 2 to 65 and everyone enjoyed his/her stay. Also the pool was heated to a perfect temperature that the kids could enjoy it morning and night!
Our original vacation rental cancelled the day of check-in and this booking was a quick attempt to salvage our vacation…and did it ever! We had a great stay despite a loss of power (so thankful the owners have a generator and were extremely responsive to reporting the outage for us). The pool was fun, house had plenty of space, and the host had all the essentials plus some. Our plan B turned out to be just the plan we needed.
8-24-2025 I spent the last30 years going to the NJ shore. We decided to venture into something different. This location was absolutely beautiful, accommodating to the entire family. Everyday was filled with fun, laughter and plenty to do. From the pool, fire-pit, feeding the fish with kids, game nights , puzzling, barn activities to hiking, wineries and scenic rides through the Blue Ridge. Couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. The host was very accommodating and provided everything we possibly could need. If you are tired of the everyday hustle and bustle of cell phones, tv and just want to enjoy your family, this where to go.
Home was beautiful and exactly as described. Property is gorgeous and views of mountains and evening sunsets were heart-stopping. Extra bedroom in barn was very nice and heater worked well. (The debate has already started with who will get to use it next time... note: 1/2 bath only, no shower in barn though - so need to use house). Owners very responsive.
Our large family (15 people) gathered to celebrate a 70th Birthday! The house had plenty space so no one felt on top of each other. The kitchen had more than enough room to prepare meals. Both kids and adults enjoyed the pool area for countless hours each day. The fire pit area was perfect spot for an out door movie with smores (we brought a projector and screen). The pictures in the listing were 100% accurate and the communication with the host was very easy. We can’t wait to rent this house again!!
I, my wife, and 2 grandchildren had an absolutely grand time at the farmhouse. Older home that has been renovated to today's needs and wants was situated on a higher point offering great viewes day and night of the Blue Ridge mountains (could see muliple ridges). Pool was both relaxing and had plenty of floats, football and other items to keep us entertain. Speaking of entertainment the arcade in a rustic barn setting was so cool. Can't say enough about the property. For family or a group of friends this property would be a great place to unwind and enjot all the mountains of VA have to offer.
We stayed in the middle of winter but still found the house/property enjoyable even though it was cold outside. The house is very spacious with large bedrooms and kitchen area. There are several spaces dedicated for children too (we were all adults). The hosts went above and beyond and left a s'mores basket on the counter, which was fabulous! We brought food to cook for the meals but completely forgot about s'more supplies for the bonfire. The mountain view was great and we witnessed two beautiful sunsets. We are thinking we need to go back again when the pool is open. :-)
Our stay at the farmhouse was amazing!!! The house was beautiful, nicely decorated and spotless!! We loved cooking in the big country kitchen and sitting by the wood stove in the evenings after a busy day outside. The bedrooms were nice in size and beds were comfortable. Plenty of room for the 12 of us. We had everything we needed. The property was very private, only hearing an occasional moo in the distance from the surrounding farm. Stargazing was amazing while sitting outside by the large fire pit enjoying a glass of wine and making s’mores. The sunsets, mountain and pastoral views were breathtaking!!!
Thank you so much Krystal and Kyle for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable.
We will be back!!
This mountain farmhouse was absolutely amazing! The house and the grounds were even more beautiful in person that in the photos! The views were breathtaking - whether the drive in, from the front porch, the pool, or the fire pit we had stunning Mountain View’s and sunsets. We had a group of 11 with kids ranging from 5 to 13, 6 adults, and our dog. The house was well stocked and comfortable with thoughtful additions like laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, soap, plenty of bath and beach towels and all the linens. The beds were large and comfortable. Kyle was very responsive whenever we needed something or had a question. The area was so enjoyable! We hiked Crabtree falls, went horseback riding, visit lots of wineries and breweries, and made a trip into Charlottesville. The kids wanted to spend the whole time in the pool and we enjoyed a few nights around the beautiful fire pit! Thank you to Kyle for sharing this retreat with us!
Grandma (me) and my three daughters and their families (12 of us) just spent a very special week here. The kids ranged from 4-15. We usually rent a beach home and decided to try something different. My grandchildren loved every moment spent there. We were there for seven days, and no one was ready to leave. We swam, and swam some more. They climbed trees, made smores, shot baskets and BB guns. We cooked out, and ordered food from the Chicken Coop (very good.) We put a giant family jigsaw puzzle together on the screened in side porch. They watched the little frogs, and fish in the lovely ponds. It’s a beautiful little farm, well furnished, comfy mattresses and lots and lots of towels! The kitchen had everything you could need, from a waffle maker, my grandkids favorite for me to make every morning to a great coffee maker( I worked for Starbucks for 13 years!) and a really nice blender. I found myself occasionally finding a nice rocking chair on a lovely porch for a little quiet time from the chaos known as my family. The hosts are exceptional and I promise you will love spending time, with the fragrance of fresh, floral air and the beauty surrounding you there at this special place.
