Elmwood Acres is a renovated farmhouse with a heated pool situated among 100+ acres of cattle pastures and orchards. 4 BR / 3 BA in the farmhouse plus 1 BR and a half bath in the fully-conditioned barn. Enjoy a heated pool with brand-new large stone patio, incredible wide-open mountain views, stunning sunsets, and 15 nearby wineries/breweries/orchards.
Property has heated pool, large patio, "man cave", playhouse, game room. Great for family reunions, week-long vacations, and special occasions.
THE PROPERTY: When you pull up the driveway and look to your right you will overlook the pasture and see some of the best mountain views in all of Virginia. The view can be enjoyed from the pool, patio, barn deck, fire pit, and swing.
The entire perimeter of the house has screen porches or patios for long conversations, coffee, meals, and drinks among family and friends.
Behind the house there is a large, deep (6 ft) saltwater pool with a waterfall and brand new, large natural stone patio with seating for the whole group. Adults and kids will love it three seasons per year (April - October), as the pool can be heated for an additional fee based on the number of days/time of year (just ask for details!).
The kids will get lost with amazement in the detached barns/structures: the main barn with a bedroom and half bath, a small kids playhouse, and a big kids (adult) game room/man cave.
There is a walking trail around the property, abundant landscaping, and a fire pit with six adirondack chairs which always prompt long talks under the clear, starry nighttime skies.
THE HOUSE: In the house you will find the charm of an 1890's farmhouse.
Large kitchen with a 8 person dining table and separate 4 person breakfast nook overlooking the garden. There is also a 6 person outdoor dining table and chairs on the brick patio off the kitchen. Top notch Samsung appliances and plenty of counter space for cooking. Efficient washer/dryer adjacent to the kitchen to accommodate your big group!
The family room is relatively small but cozy with a high-end Jotul woodstove that will warm up the whole house on fall and winter nights. Still plenty of room for TV and snuggles, but you will most likely want to spend your time around the pool, on the screen porches to the side and front of the house, or the back patio.
Four bedrooms in the main house (3 upstairs, 1 downstairs), all good sizes and well appointed. Master bedroom is upstairs with a king bed and two chairs overlooking the pool/gardens. One bedroom upstairs is clearly setup for kids (2 bunks plus a twin). The third bedroom upstairs has a queen size bed and TV. The downstairs bedroom has a king size bed and TV.
There is an additional bedroom with a king size bed in the barn. The barn bedroom also has a pellet stove, wall AC/heat unit, refrigerator, coffee maker, and a composting toilet. The Barn is about 100 yards from the house. The barn also has a wrap around deck with views that will make you melt at sunset.
This property is perfect for family reunions, week-long family vacations, and memorable occasions.
Access to the property is secured by a gate. House is accessed through a key pad lock. Both codes will be provided by email/text before check-in!
You are smack dab in the middle of hundreds of acres of orchards (open for Strawberry and Blueberry picking in the Spring/Early Summer) and pastures (plenty of cows in site!). There are another 7 orchards within a 15 minute drive.
At least 8 wineries/breweries within 15 minutes (Blue Mountain Barrell House, Lovingston Winery, Devils Backbone Brewery, Outback Brew House, Blue Toad Hard Cidery, Rebec Vineyards, Lazy Day Winery).
Lots of hiking nearby too: Appalachian Trail, Crabtree Falls, Fortunes Cove, Blue Ridge Railroad Trail, etc.
We can refer a private driver if you prefer for day trips to the numerous nearby wineries and breweries...Just ask!
Pool is available for all guests and can be heated three seasons per year for additional fee that depends on the time of year (outdoor temperature) and number of nights. We do not seek to make any money on heating the pool, just to cover the costs of propane which heats it. If you are interested in having the pool heated, just ask!
