Never stayed - reservation cancelled day visit was to begin

Host cancelled our reservation at 11:50 am on day we were scheduled to check in. Simply said property had changed hands. I find it difficult to believe that the property changed hands that day - advanced notice would have been appreciated as we had to scramble to find suitable accomodations that afternoon for 6 people. I will hesitate to rent through VRBO again as customer service was less than helpful. AND despite reservation being cancelled I keep getting emails about this stay.
