Get away to sun and surf

Wonderful outdoor living with our own private pool plus two other communal pools on the property, one with some of the best bar tenders we encountered in Costa Rica. Short walk (or shuttle that runs frequently) to the beach with several fun restaurants and bars. We came to relax and get away from the insanity in the U.S and this proved the perfect place.

Lovely Villa

Playa Hermosa is a dream

The location of the villa is superb. We have been to many exotic places in our time and the sand and sea at Playa Hermosa are special. The condo was well cared for and a brilliant vacation.

Beautiful condo with private pool close to beach

We loved the condo! It was so beautiful easy to get to beach and included a private pool. Could have stayed longer! The only thing it could use is a full length mirror but that is the only thing I could even say is missing.

Excellent property to enjoy the beach.

This place had all of the conveniences and many we didn't use. It was very clean and comfortable. Having the little pool and the covered patio was very important and where we spent most of our time. This part was also very private and green with all of the plants around it. The two bedrooms made it affordable for us as we shared the cost of the rent. We would stay here again.

Great day! Home was well stocked! Bathroom updated! Super thoughtful welcome basket with treats. Property manager was extremely helpful at answering questions and offering suggestions. Super easy to get to shared pools and short walk or trolley to the beach. Highly recommend!

Just Perfect

This villa is lovely, it's has a cozy feel to it while on vacation. The pool was perfect and the property has a more pools on site if you want to socialize. I love that the property has transportation to get you around. This Villa is a 5 min walk or less to recepción to me that was perfect. There are restaurants and a grocery store nearby. I appreciate that the host checked to see how was everything and if we needed anything. I really can't wait to be back.

Beautiful Villa in Great Location

We loved our "working vacation" at Villa Sol 30. The villa was clean and comfortable and the deck with WIFI and a private plunge pool was a perfect remote office. The surrounding resort is quiet and feels very safe. The swim up bar was great fun and sunsets from the top pool/restaurant area were stunning. The resort also provides free shuttle service to the beach (although we walked up and down the hill most of the time). The Krain team was easy to work with and helped us arrange transportation to and from the airport in Liberia. We would welcome a chance to visit again!

Summer 2024

Quite nice. Easy walk to a large pool with a swim-up bar, and short shuttle ride to another large pool or beach. The beach was beautiful. The sunsets were spectacular. The bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen had everything. The bathroom was modern and clean. The patio area and small pool would have been great, but the patio became covered in cat/raccoon feces within 2 to 3 days. Property management was responsive to multiple requests but not the feces problem.

Nice ending to trip

We rented two properties next-door to one another. We found the rental agency to be incredibly proactive and responsive and very timely. They addressed any questions or concerns we might’ve had. One of the properties we stayed in had had a recent bad review and it didn’t seem warranted in its totality. The rental company was very good at addressing the concerns once we had read the review and we didn’t find any issues upon staying there, there were some decent restaurants nearby and we had a lovely two nights stay before flying back home. The beach was very calm, which are younger children enjoyed because we had stayed in other areas of Costa Rica where the surf was more rough.

Great Home Base for Exploring the Playa Hermosa Area

This is a very nice unit, well maintained and clean. The bed was very comfortable. There were lots of towels and pillows. Kitchen was well equipped and even had an air fryer. The bathroom was attractive and modern. The pool and patio area are well screened from the road. There's no view but it feels very private. In a resort community where units are pretty closely packed together, this unit felt private. We explored the secluded local beaches (Playa Calzon and Playa Penca between Playa Hermosa and Playas del Coco) and traveled to Poza los Coyotes (less than an hour away). We're vegans and didn't find much in Playa Hermosa, but Playas del Coco had several options for us: check out Le Coq. Our villa's patio and pool were a great place to hang out for breakfast and in the evening. Very comfortable.

Rundown! Run away from this property!

This stay was a nightmare from the start. The pool does not look like anything in the picture. It needs a serious paint job. We stayed in the property early November 2024. Costa Rica suffered from epic rains, and for that I am sorry. What I am not sorry about is the fact that this property obviously had not been inspected in a while. If someone would have gone, they would have seen staining on the walls and ceiling, evidence of a leak. It rained very heavily the entire time that we were there. The roof started to leak the first night. We put towels and pots on the floor to catch the leak. I did contact the host immediately. I understand there was a national emergency so I know that it would not be fixed any time soon. We asked to be moved to another property and were told nothing was available. After 48 hours in the property, black mold was forming on the ceiling. We notified the host that we were leaving immediately. I hope this property was properly inspected and fixed before someone else stays there.

Winter Get Away

Villa 30 was a lovely villa and very true to the description. There is a large living/dining area though we ate outside all the time. With the sliding doors it created a beautiful open feeling so we could relax and use the pool, read or eat ...whatever we felt like doing with no worries. We only used one bedroom and it was comfortable though the air conditioner was a problem. It had been modified and unless you had it on high, which was extremely loud, there was not much air movement. We adapted by cooling it down in the evening then just leaving the fan on overnight. The kitchen is very well equipped with every appliance you could want. We found that these appliances took up a lot of counter space so we used the empty cupboards to put things away that we wouldn't used which solved that small issue. Overall, we were very happy with the villa and found it met our needs and more. We would highly recommend it and would stay again. The resort itself could use a bit of TLC but the employees work hard to keep it in shape as much as possible. Our property manager, David, was very quick to respond to questions. When we arrived there was no kettle and he had one to us in 2 hours!

Avoid. Being outdated is generally ok but this place is rundown and dirty/gross. We left after one night (had 5 booked) and only stayed 1 because it was too late to run around with 2 kids. First, outside: The lovely blue pool in the listing's picture? Nope. The floor of that is black and splotchy. Rundown. Inside... where the walls meet the wood beams is separated and dirty, cracking -- badly needing to be re-caulked and re-painted. There are numerous places on the walls where there's damage from the A/C dripping, and random stains and marks. Looks terrible. Window seals need to be repainted. There was really bad black mold around the kitchen sink (which I spent some time cleaning). TV image is glitchy. The best part? There was literally hair and [dirt?] on the bed sheets when we pulled the covers back. Slow clap. If they didn't clean the sheets, what else wasn't cleaned? The sheets were really old with stains and holes in them, too. Not surprising. The place has a washer and dryer so we stripped the sheets and spent our first few hours hanging around while we did the laundry the cleaning people obviously didn't do. Property mgmt was responsive -- kind of like they aren't surprised someone would complain about the place. They offered to send a cleaner the next morning and some clean sheets... the next morning, though. We already cleaned so not helpful. We got the basic room fee back for the other nights we had booked but not the admin and management fees. Stay away.

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Avoid. Being outdated is generally ok but this place needs some real maintenance. For a group of college dudes, it's fine. For my family trying to enjoy a nice vacation, it's... well, we left after one night and that's only because we arrived too late to go elsewhere in a town we don't know with two young kids. First impressions are important. This place scores about a 2/10 on that. First, from outside: The lovely picture of the blue pool in the listing's picture? Nope.
