About this property

Mountaintop 2 BR Cottage on 100 peaceful acres

Gram's Place is built above an aircraft hangar (seldom used) but the terrain makes it a "ground level" experience.
In front of the cottage is a grass runway (seldom used).
The neighboring farm raises black angus cattle.
The driveway into Gram's Place is about 1 mile long. We recommend a vehicle with good clearance as the drive is gravel. We recommend AWD or 4WD if it's snowy. The drive, combined with an alternate four-wheel drive entrance creates a loop that is almost exactly one mile. If you like walking it is an enjoyable walk that includes views of the surrounding area, one of the ponds and elevation changes of about 200 feet.
Our little mountain has an unencumbered view to the west and north making for spectacular sunsets.
On clear nights the Milky Way stands out bold in the sky along with whatever constellations are in season.
We have plenty of dirt roads to hike, ride ATVs or horses.
Two small ponds stocked with Catfish and Blue Gill.
Permission to hunt and fish granted during your stay.
To top it off we have a nice fire pit to enjoy your evenings.

Excellent weekend getaway, so peaceful and relaxing. The layout is perfect and we had everything we needed to cook our meals. It snowed and was cold outside so we didn't venture out but I can imagine that the view would be spectacular in the summer months.

Seclusion at its BEST!!!!
We absolutely loved the property. The listing was accurate and property owners were very responsive. There were no surprises, listing is very accurate. We will book this property again. (If you are scared of being out in the woods this is not your place.) If you want to be away from everything, this is the place! The kitchen didn’t have a can opener but we were able to borrow one from family near by. I will pack one next time. Overall great stay!

Gram’s Place
Everything was as listed, with so much more. We were looking for solitude, and here we found it, with only the white-tailed deer, wild turkeys and rabbits, tree frogs, hummingbirds, song birds, and whippoorwills to keep us company. The fully-stocked kitchen included a gas stove plus anodized steel pots and pans that were a joy to cooks with, and the bedrooms were furnished with extremely comfortable beds and bedding. Amy and Robert were warm and welcoming, and responded quickly to all questions that came up during the course of our two-month stay.

This was a great getaway.
First of all, we arrived a little early and were promptly let in. There was a little goodie basket in the kitchen with some snacks. The views of the fall colors were amazing. I loved the back deck to sit and relax. The fire pit area was also another great surprise feature. The owners checked on us the following day to see if we needed anything and were attentive to anything else we needed. I will certainly be returning to this lovely location.

Robert and Amy have 8 children and enjoy living in the West Virginia Mountains. In addition to Gram's Place, The Briarpatch also has The Big House which has been our family home. The Big House is about 200 yards from Gram's. We do occasionally stay at the Big House and guests at Grams may see us coming and going.

Why they chose this property

If you are looking for a commuter base while working in the area, Gram's is probably not for you.
BUT, if you are looking for a place where you can relax and unwind, with modern comforts and country solitude Gram's may be for you.
Kids are free to roam, fish in the ponds and catch crawdads in the creek.
During hunting season we allow registered guests to hunt on the 100 acre parcel subject to state regulation and licensing requirements.
Sit out by the fire, roast some marshmallows or cook some silver turtles.
See a night sky full of stars.

What makes this property unique

Off the beaten path. Mountain top panoramic views. Huge night sky.
