About the host
Hosted by Cole Davis
Papa’s Porch started with a simple idea — find a place big enough for the whole family to actually be together.
With young kids, we knew beach trips were going to be a big part of our family’s life. But we kept running into the same problem: the house was never quite big enough. Someone was always on an air mattress, the grandparents were booked at a separate hotel down the road, or cousins were scattered across two different rentals. The logistics got in the way of the whole point — being together.
We wanted a place where our kids could run from room to room with their cousins, where the grandparents had a real bed and a comfortable porch to sit on in the morning, and where our closest friends could join us without anyone feeling cramped. A place where the whole crew — three generations, little ones and all — could share one roof and actually enjoy it.
So when we found Papa’s Porch, we knew it was exactly what we’d been looking for.
Every feature that won us over is still here for you. The king bedrooms so the adults aren’t flipping a coin. The private pool so the kids always have something to do. The elevator so nobody’s hauling gear or little ones up three flights of stairs. The wrap-around porch, big enough for everyone to gather at the end of the day with a drink in hand while the kids wind down.
Once we experienced what this place could do for our family, we knew we had to share it. We hope Papa’s Porch gives yours the same thing it gave ours.

Why they chose this property
Pull onto our street and you’ll feel the shift immediately. It’s quiet — the kind of quiet that reminds you why you came to the beach in the first place. We sit on a dead-end street with virtually no through traffic, which means the kids can ride bikes, chase each other around outside, and just be kids without you watching the road every five seconds.
What makes this spot truly special is the view. From the upper floors of Papa’s Porch, you get a full 180 degrees — ocean on one side, sound on the other. You can watch the sunrise over the Atlantic with your morning coffee and catch the sunset painting the sound at the end of the day, all without leaving the house. It never gets old.
The beach itself is less than a five-minute walk. No loading up the car, no long hike through the sand — just grab your chairs, hit the cart, and you’re there. Ocean Isle Beach is one of those rare stretches of North Carolina coast that still feels unhurried. It’s not overcrowded, not overly commercialized. It’s the kind of beach town where people come back year after year because it still feels like the real thing.
For us, this neighborhood is exactly what a family beach trip should feel like — peaceful, safe, beautiful, and completely unplugged from the rest of the world.

What makes this property unique
Why Papa’s Porch Is Different
There’s no shortage of beach rentals on Ocean Isle Beach. So why do families keep coming back to Papa’s Porch?
It starts with the size — but it’s more than just square footage. A lot of large beach houses feel like a hotel that forgot to add personality. Papa’s Porch was chosen because it actually works for families. Eight bedrooms with six kings means the adults in your group all sleep well. Six and a half bathrooms means nobody is waiting in line at 8am. An elevator that runs from the ground floor all the way to the top means grandparents, strollers, coolers, and luggage all get where they’re going without a fight.
The reverse floor plan is something guests genuinely rave about. Most beach houses put the living areas on the ground floor where the views are blocked by every house on the street. Here, your kitchen, main living room, and primary master suite are all on the top floor — which means you cook, eat, and relax with a full panoramic view of the ocean and sound stretching out in front of you. It changes the whole feel of the trip.
The private pool is not an afterthought. The furniture around it was chosen for comfort, and in the spring and fall we heat it at no extra charge so you’re not cutting your swim short because the water turned cold.
Then there’s the little things — and at Papa’s Porch, the little things add up. One-gig fiber internet so remote work and school actually work. Beach chairs, umbrella, and a cart already waiting for you. An ice machine for your coolers. Poly-Wood shower decks so nobody picks up a splinter after a long beach day. Toys, board games, and a PlayStation for the evenings when everyone just wants to stay in.
Over 130 five-star reviews don’t happen by accident. They happen because every detail was thought through — not just for the first impression, but for the whole week.
