We had a wonderful and very comfortable experience, the host was very helpful and. One of the best and most well stocked kitchen, Definitely would recommend anyone to stay here!
Communication response was very quick. One of the upstairs bedrooms didn’t have the same ventilation for the summer heat as the others but overall the property was very functional, clean, and well represented. They delivered on what they promised.
Overall a great place to stay. Our group of 6 adults had plenty of room to spread out and come together (for meals and game play). We only had one minor complaint. Several of the bedroom doors did not latch. This was a problem because one of our dogs is very food driven and was able to enter the room of our other dog and steal food. Not a major complaint but latching doors would be nice.We loved the Dunsmuir/Mt. Shasta area. Lots of great hiking and beautiful scenery. The hot tub worked beautifully and was enjoyed by all!
Franke's Retreat was even better than it appears in the Vrbo photos. Franke's was roomy, comfortable, and came with a surprising amount of amenities. We loved the hot tub, the kitchen, and the heated floors in the bathrooms. We also took advantage of the dens (both upstairs and downstairs) and the grill on the deck. The location was also fantastic. You're around 5-15 minutes away from everything in the Dunsmuir area (golf, Castle Crags, Mossbrae Falls, etc.). The Upper Sacramento is just down the hill, and overall a really beautiful, quiet (except for the trains), scenic area. I would highly recommend!
The area is so beautiful with house nestled into that spot where you can hear the train passing by. Our host were so easy to contact, I made several contacts with them prior to arriving and they responded right away. Thank you for a lovely time.
The property is a wooded lot with good privacy, a covered carport. We enjoyed the porch and the sitting area in the backyard had some good views of the trees and the Sacramento river, which was unfortunately inaccessible because of a steep hill and private property at the bottom of the hill. The beds were very comfortable. The linens and towels were clean. The shower and tub were a little small. We found this property to be close to many of the things we were interested in. there is a railroad track that runs alongside the Sacramento river and trains come down this track quite frequently and they do blow their horns.
The best time the place is perfect. The atmosphere is beautiful and the spa was so relaxing. Everything you could like of is there.very clean. Loved the privacy and the gorgeous view. We will definitely be back.
The kitchen had everything we needed, house well stocked with amenities, clean sheets and house!A few things stood out though, keeping this from 5 stars. The hot tub went out, looks like it needs servicing and a breaker blew. The firewood was too large to fit in the wood stove, which was a disconnect.Great place!
The cabin is located near family so it worked for us. If the beds had been laundered when we arrived it would have improved our stay but overall we enjoyed our stay and felt the cabin was well stocked.
We had a great time in this cute cabin style home. The got tub was great. Beautiful surroundings. Tastefully stocked kitchen. Thank you.

The hot tub malfunctioned and had an electrical fire while we were in it. We left a phone message with the number listed for the property manager. A hot tub technician showed up and looked at it. We did not receive any follow up communication, compensation, or apology. The only reason we rent this place is the hot tub.
Spent two days with family. Spacious. Clean. 4 bedrooms. Great kitchen. Worked great for us. Heating upstairs involves an electric space heater which works well. Downstairs involves some kind of natural gas fired heater in living room and not central heating. Needed to increase the temp to 72 from where it was set (68) in order to make sure the bedrooms at other end of floor were not cold.
Other than the train, this place was peaceful and quiet. The train goes by a few times a day and night. I loved it. I grew up close to a train track and it was nostalgic for me. For the rest of my group they didn’t love it or hate it. There was lots of room for everyone. We enjoyed the porch and jacuzzi. There were plenty of amenities. There are lots of good restaurant near by. The lake was about 40 minutes away, but I think the town of Dunsmuir is preferable to further downhill. It’s a lot cooler. Looking forward to returning next summer.

Main reason for the 3 stars was the noise. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and each night the train whistles woke everyone up at least 3 times during the night. The second night we all had earbuds so we fared better.
It is not a true 4 bedroom as one of the bedrooms has no closet. And another is extremely tiny barely fitting a double bed.
Some other factors. Property was a bit dilapidated. Neighborhood as well. Lotta poison oak on the path down to the river.
Hot tub was super nice. Excellent that it is dog friendly. It was super hot in the bedrooms despite the portable ac units attached to the windows.
Spot is convenient to make trips to Castle and Siskiyou Lake.
I would not recommend.
