LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Ski-on ski-off and avoid the crowds...Walk to the Fitness Center...Cook in the kitchen or eat in the restaurant Friday & Saturday. Leave the car in the parking lot the entire vacation!
'The Lodges' is regarded as one of the most convenient developments in the Killington area and offer top quality accommodations with a location unmatched on the entire mountain. There are very few 3-bed, 3-bath units with such a spectacular location and high-quality amenities. They are either too far away, too big, too small, or too old.
Our unit is in the Aspen Lodge which is the closest building to the bottom of Sunrise Lift, a ski lift which is typically open New Years through March. You are literally steps from a lift. Forget frozen, muddy, gridlocked parking lots and lines of skiers trying to get onto the mountain on a powder day – you are already on the mountain at opening and can ski home at the end of the day. Being on the ground floor, you can ski right up to your door. The Sunrise Triple takes about 12 minutes to the top. Ski down to Bear Mountain and, with the Bear Mountain Express quad (about 8 minutes), you can be at the K-1 base lodge in about 30 minutes, even if there is a giant snowstorm the night before. Such a difference being on the mountain instead of the alternative where, if there's a giant snowstorm the night before, you can't even get to the mountain until your place is plowed out and the roads are cleared.
USE THE SUNRISE LIFT WITHOUT A LIFT PASS - A BIG PLUS FOR NEW SKIERS. The Sunrise Lift does not require a ski pass and is typically used to access Bear Mountain, but there is simple and long trail which goes back to the bottom of the lift. Beginner skiers can practice their skills for free simply by taking advantage of this lift and doing a few laps on this trail. Although restricted to skiing “Bearview” then “Sundog” or “Rendezvous,” these are green trails, ideal for new skiers wanting to develop skills and gain confidence.
The Sunrise Center is within walking distance and offers a wide array of outdoor activities and a fitness center indoors. Outside is cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, and (if conditions allow) outdoor skating. Don't worry about equipment - it's all provided for your convenience. If that doesn't suit you, there's an over-sized gas firepit and outdoor hot tub.
Inside the Sunrise Fitness Center you can enjoy the large indoor pool, an indoor hot tub, a steam room, dry sauna, and adequately equipped exercise facility. You can even pick up a light meal at the Sunrise Restaurant, open 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for lunches and on Friday and Saturday for dinner.
INTERIOR COMFORTS
As our vacation home, our desire was to have a truly convenient ski condo – luxurious without being outrageous or gaudy. Spacious, yet easy to upkeep. The tiled living room area features two sofas, a plush chair, a gas fireplace, and large flat screen TV with DVD and Internet Streaming. The well-stocked kitchen features stainless steel appliances, oak cabinets, granite counter tops and beautifully tiled floors.
Each of the 3 bedrooms has its own bathroom for added privacy and comfort. The master bedroom sleeps 2 on a king size bed. The guest room sleeps 2 on two twins. The bunk bed room sleeps 4 on two bunk beds. If necessary, the pullout sofa in the living room can sleep 2 on the queen-size mattress, but this is rarely used. This condo sleeps 8 comfortably and is ideal for two families or four couples.
SUMMER IN KILLINGTON?
Stay away from the southern heat. With flowing streams, hidden waterfalls, secluded lakes, quaint villages, breathtaking views, covered bridges, green hills and cool breezes, Vermont in the summer is spectacular.
Experience a fly fishing adventure in the heart of the Green Mountains. Play a relaxing round of golf at nearby Killington golf course, take a swim in Sunrise’s outdoor pool (with lap lane) or indoor pool, or play tennis on outdoor courts. Go for a swim in one of the many lakes and rivers located nearby. There are a few world class rivers which offer tubing and fly fishing. Native Eastern Brook Trout are in the smaller streams of the Killington area, while huge Rainbow and Native Brown Trout are in the other Vermont rivers such as the White and Ottaquechee Rivers.
