Perfect in Every Way

We loved our stay over the Thanksgiving holiday, and the Bakerview Beach House was great. Such spectacular views enabled us to enjoy the alpenglow on Mt Baker in the evening, harbor seals swimming by the house each morning, and bald eagles soaring by now and then. The view is breathtaking! And Whidbey Island is such a special place; there’s just so much to do within minutes of the house. The house met our needs in every way. Comfortable beds, a fully stocked kitchen, and ample seating in the dining and living room areas.Everything worked and the house was very clean. This really was one of the nicest VRBO properties we’ve experienced and we hope to return. Thank you, Patte!

Fantastic

Photo’s really don’t do the property justice. Fantastic spot. Balcony is the highlight for me. Sitting out drinking coffee listening to the water lap the beach in the morning sun. Just magical. The balcony/deck is much bigger than any of the photo’s suggest. House was everything you’d want a rental to be and had everything you could ever imagine needing. More magical than the house and the location though was our host Patte. What a kind and gracious human being. And could not have been more attentive or responsive. Any questions or queries she was on like a flash! She really made a difference to our trip and one we are truly grateful for Fantastic rental, even more fantastic host. Highly recommended.

Relaxing Retreat

We recently stayed at Bakerview Beach House in Coupeville and had a truly enjoyable experience. Both Patte and Don were exceptional hosts. They let us settle in and checked that we have everything we needed. Offered suggestions for places to eat (we really like Callen’s) or places to see. We did appreciate their input. The property is located in a peaceful neighborhood with limited through traffic. Every one we met while walking our dogs were super friendly and would stop to chat. Don’t forget to check out Patte’s farm across the street. Her honey from her bee hive is delicious! Access to the property was straightforward, plenty of parking and easy passcode entry. The house has everything you need except food. Plenty of room to store food, cook and eat; we spent most of the time cooking on the gas grill. The large deck which overlooks the beach, Sound and Mt Baker. Beautiful morning sunrises while drinking coffee, definitely the best way to wake up. I had a hard time wanting to move from it. Unless, you want to climb the stairs to the beach and look for shells, tide pools and seals that pop out of the water to see what you are doing. We were able to Kayak out, set traps and catch crab right in front of the house. Talk about fresh! We will definitely be back. It was hard to leave the island.

Crabbing and Family - what could be better?!

My wife and I had a wonderful family reunion with our son, his wife and our4 grandkids! The view from the deck in amazing - we loved just drinking in the beauty and peacefulness. The beach walks were full of wonder and the crab-fest every night was such a treat. Patte, the host was incredible - She was provided everything we needed and more! She is a wealth of information on the flora and fauna of the island, especially the tideland creatures. Not to mention her mini farm across the road - the kids loved it! We will be back!

Fantastic Property!

We stayed here for a week with five adults and two small dogs. Very comfortable space with nice beds, very well equipped kitchen and wonderful deck with gorgeous views! Stairs to the beach make it fun to go explore. Aside from the one time we had naval jets flying over doing drills during our stay, it is very quiet and peaceful in this area! Patte is a wonderful host, and we loved visiting her fiber farm and meeting her animals!

Amazing views and location

I was a little worried this house would not live up to the advertisement, but I was not disappointed. This was an amazing house with amazing views and affordable. It was not suer luxurious or a mansion, but it was perfect for a family. The kids loved the beach access, and the fact that it was dog friendly made it even better. Plus, the owner was right next door incase we had any issues. Highly recommend.

Stunning views, amazing host, great beds

From start to finish, Patte, our host, was so gracious and accommodating. She allowed us to check-in early and check-out late. She sent me videos before our stay, of the gray whales feeding in front of the house, although we did not get to catch a glimpse during our stay, but there were plenty of binoculars. The view was breathtaking and I wouldn't have cared if we were in a tent. That being said, the beds were super comfortable. I was in largest bed and slept like a baby. Kitchen well stocked and Patte even provided fresh eggs from her chickens for $5.00. They hadn't laid that morning and she jokingly texted she was going to go "squeeze some chickens" LOL We asked to visit her animals across the street and we got the full tour. The goats and little horse, the chickens and alpaca - so sweet! The driveway easily fit our 3 cars. House code was easy to get in. Patte lives next door and all the stained glass, she did herself - her hobby. The BBQ was out of propane but her husband quickly came over and replaced it and made sure the BBQ could start up for us. The only thing missing was a meat thermometer. We brought our little dog, and the only rule was not to leave the pup alone in the house and not to let her on the furniture, which was easy to comply with. This was a girls wonderful weekend. Be sure to reserve your ferry if coming from Pt. Townsend to Coupeville, at least 24-48 hrs in advance, as they take 80% reserve, and only 20% drive up. Thanks Patte!!!!

Amazing Stay - Highly Recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Patte’s place on Whidbey Island in late February. The house is spacious and functional, while the beach/water is just out the back door. The pictures don’t do the gorgeous view justice. We even saw a gray whale out the window. Patte is a fantastic host and even showed our toddler her farm. A truly special weekend! 5 out of 5 - hope to stay again in the future!

Christmas get-away

This is our second year enjoying Patte's Baker House over Christmas. We love the covered outdoor deck and spent many hours covered in blankets and chatting with our adult children. Highly recommend. Even got to see Mt. Baker through the clouds and enjoyed fresh eggs and honey. Comfortably slept all 4 of us.

Vacation with Mom

We loved the view and were so excited to witness the rare visit of Orcas from J pod. There was plenty of space for all of us and a great kitchen to prepare meals. Patte was very responsive to any message we sent. We would definitely return. The view of Mt Baker was gorgeous once the fog lifted in the morning. The stairs to the beach were very easy to navigate. We are very thankful we were able to stay all together and bring our dogs. This was the first family vacation as adults with our mom. This will forever be an experience we remember.

Nice deck and location

Property in lovely location. East-facing so didn’t get much sun and the house could do with a proper clean but otherwise well kitted out and comfortable. Hot water was an issue that the owners next door could have been more proactive about.

HIDDEN PEARL BY THE OCEAN

Stayed 4 days 3 nights with family and friends! Stunning views of the ocean, wild life surprises, and plenty of room!! We had comfy beds, plenty of linens, spacious showers and bathrooms. The kitchen had lots of extras, enough plating and dishes to cater an event. The stairwell to the beach is about 60 stairs down to the beach front!! Yes, at the base of stairs was the beach!! If you are looking to have a stay on Whidbey Island, this is the place. Absolutely Beautiful!!

About the host

HI!
I live next door. I graduated from Oak Harbor High School. After graduating and moving away I returned to the Island in1998. Upon my return I spent several years teaching home school children about the diverse nature found on our Island and just step away. I enjoy meeting new people and introducing them to the beauty of Whidbey Island and all the adventure at our front door. I have a "Fiber Farm and Apiary" across the street with two very sweet sheep and goats, and an alpaca and several hens. (fresh eggs and honey available)
I also like to share all of these experiences with people staying at Bakerview Beach House if they are interested.

Why they chose this property

When this house next to my house came available, as a builder, my dad decided to buy it as a "project" after my mom passed away from cancer. There is a large, very old, Pacific Yew tree in the front yard which has properties (taxal) that is used to treat cancer.
Dad never actually lived at the house. He decided to offer it as a family get away and vacation rental to share with others.

What makes this property unique

Life long memories!
