Such a great place to relax and enjoy all the beauty that northern Michigan has to offer. Nice shallow sandy beach for kids to play, swim and kayak. Best 4th of July celebration ever. Highly recommend this property off the grid to disconnect and recharge.
This property is beautiful and very clean! Great remote location, wonderful sunrises, and the host was very responsive. The property is as pictured except for 2 things. The one bedroom is shown in the listing as having a twin bunkbed and a full size bed. Actually it is a twin upper and full size lower bunk bed. Also, the table on the deck is currently unusable and is not the glass one in the picture. If you want any games, you need to bring them as all they have are puzzles. If you want chairs and sand toys for the beach you will need to bring your own. You also need to be a bit nimble to get to the beach by climbing over the boulders. There is a rock path off to the side but it is very uneven and difficult to walk on. There is no air and though the recirculating air in the heating system works well to move air around, if it is warm, you may want to bring some fans as none were provided.Overall, it is a great place for a group of people to have a wonderful getaway off the beaten path but close to civilization! Our group included ages 8 to 68 and we very much enjoyed our time here!
Beautiful lake front cabin. We had a wonderful stay and would definately go back! Some of the things you expect to see with a lake cabin in the UP such as cobwebs, tons of flies (inside and outside), we heard critters in the walls and there were mouse traps in the house. Some large gaps in deck and the outdoor table is in rough shape. Low water pressure but good hot water. Large holes in screen door off porch. The main entrance screen door does stick sometimes. Large living room windows have some mold build up from condensation moisture. Things to know before you go so you can be prepared.. it is kid friendly but there arent any above and beyond little kid things like cups/bowls/utensils, inside/outside toys or sand toys. There are a few puzzles, dvds and a swing hidden in the forrest to the side of the house. There also wasnt much hand soap, toilet paper or firewood supplied, no hair shampoo/conditioner supplied (between 4 adults and 2 kids we ended up having to buy quite a bit of extra stuff to make it through the week stay). No beach towels supplied and you definately need water shoes if you plan to walk/swim since there are many large rocks in this beach. Understand that the upstairs bedroom is a loft, not a closed bedroom. No fans and dim room lights on first floor.
Honestly property exceeded our expectations. Beach was beautiful and not at all difficult to access as someone else stated. Loved how remote the property is. Would love to visit again.
This property was even more beautiful in person. It was meticulously maintained and perfectly located down an isolated dirt road with other cabins nearby. The walks on the beach and bonfire under the stars were incredible, as was kayaking on the lake. It is relatively centrally located, close to good public beaches on both Great and small lakes, and while you do have to drive to get places - it's the UP - the drives are beautiful and its a great home base for day trips; we went to Pictures Rocks (a favorite of my kids) one day, and Escanaba another, and kayaking on the river twice. Altogether a perfect UP vacation spot!
Beautiful location, the beach and view was amazing . Inside wasn’t the cleanest , towels were still wet , was a lot of mouse turds In bedroom and kitchen area.

We are so sorry and highly surprised as there were only a few hours between your arrival and the last guest. We do have mouse traps located throughout the property to prevent little unwelcome visitors. I have made our cleaning company aware of your comments to ensure this does not happen again.
It was so great the first time, we came back again, and the second visit didn't disappoint either! Wonderful location and amenities. Host communication is excellent. Having your own lake side beach to enjoy is hard to beat. There's lots to get out and do in the area too but we love being at the house to enjoy the peace and tranquility the property provides.
We loved our stay at the property. We had so much fun playing in Lake Michigan and relaxing on the beach. We took a day trip up to kayak on Lake Superior to see the Pictured Rocks, which were absolutely breathtaking. Other than that we loved just staying at the cabin and enjoying the outdoors. The Upper Crust Deli in town was a great place to grab for breakfast or lunch. We highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a quiet getaway.
We all loved our stay here in Manistique. We call it our hidden ocean gem that doesn’t disappoint! The kids had a bit of a hard time not having internet but they learned to enjoy Gods beauty instead with walking the beach and finding animal bones and digging in the sand. Also enjoyed some boggie boarding! Nothing like being right on the water ❤️
This is our second year at this place and we had an awesome time. We love the house and the location is second to none. We walked the beaches for miles and miles.
Just so you are aware: there is an old porcupine who likes the porch and came up to visit several times. Also, there was a mouse in the living room.
We had a great week with this spot as our base for exploring The UP. Fayette State Park and Kitch-iti-Kipi were close by and amazing! We made longer day-trips to Sault Ste Marie and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
Property was as described. The lakeview offered beautiful sunrises and a quiet shoreline. We didn't have great cell coverage and no wifi, but we packed lots of books and board games and enjoyed unplugging for the week.

We are so glad yo enjoyed your stay, we love sharing withothers.
We booked this vacation as a get away from work, every day life and because we haven’t been able to get all our kids together for a family vacation since 2018. This piece of Heaven is at least 10 mins into the wooded area and right on the lake. It was exactly what our family needed! Our kids range from 12-23 - we all loved it! If you are looking to disconnect & truly relax, this place is just what you need!
The cabin was nice, but a little far off the main road. Views we awesome, and loved listening to the waves. The kids had so much fun playing in the water.
A little disappointed, the listing said it had a DVD player, so we rented movies on the way to there but go there and no player.
Overall a nice house and would recommend.

Yes the home is 1.25 miles off the beaten path, we like to think of it as finding a secret national forest that opens up to the beautifu waters of Lake Michigan. We are very sorry about the DVD player, we are working on correcting that asap. There were puzzels and games provided and we hope you were able to take advantage of those.
Was a great vacation spot. The cabin was very open and airy. With 10 of us, we always had hot water and having a washer and dryer was awesome. The only complaint I would have is the bunk beds not having a rail on the outer side. We had smaller children so they could only stay in the bottom bunk. But all in all, we had a great time in a great place

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We actually do have a removable side rail for the upper bunk beds stowed in the closet in the room.
Again, we are very happy you enoyed your stay at the cabin on Lake Michigan!
Our stay here was magical. We had a private beach for the kids, kayaks to explore with, and we only ever saw one other person. Very off the beaten path, but perfect for making family memories, and the lack of internet was actually a plus in my opinion! There were lots of spiders as others have commented, but they were 99% outside and I will take them for the seclusion this property provided. Owner was the appropriate level of communicative and was quick to respond to questions. Will absolutely be coming back!

We are so very happy you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you back again. Thank you for the input on the spiders, I am seeking out a company to do outdoor treatments which should help so your next time back should be spider free lol.
We loved this place and will stay again. However I feel like I need to say this since no other reviews have. The water may be drinkable, as the owner said, but it stinks so bad that you don’t even want to take a shower. We had to use bottled water even to coffee. just don’t thi

It was beautiful but the beach was disappointing. Not kid friendly and difficult and dangerous to get to the water. We had to go down the beach a bit to get to sandy beach so we could get in the water. Otherwise it was peaceful and quiet. There were mice in the kitchen area. Lots of rodent poop.

I am so sorry you were disappointed with the miles for sandy private beach, most people love it!. As the picture show the rocks are there to preseve the shore line as water levels change dramatically with the seasons. Our 6 grandchildren ages 2 to 12 don't have a problem getting the beach and actually enjoy climbing the rock. There is easy access on both sides across the bridge or on the otherside if you do not want to climbe rock. As for the mice visitor you experienced, as the season change and secuded in the dense wood, on rare occation a mouse does get inside, although this was the very first time we have ever had a mouse. We have taken further steps to correct this.
