About this property
A tranquil Balinese-inspired jungle oasis
This home is truly an oasis where you will be surrounded by the jungle with daily visits from toucans, parrots, and hummingbirds while enjoying cool breezes blowing off the Pacific in the distance. Enjoying nature at this elevation allows you to be outside from the Howler monkey wake up call to the front row seats at your private sunset evening show over the ocean. You can play at the ocean during the day and enjoy a cool mountain village escape at night.
Sitting on over 2-acres, this Bali-inspired compound features the main house, two detached guest casitas, an open air rancho, and enclosed bodega with a brand new washer and dryer, a private outdoor zen garden with a rain shower & soaking tub, a gas fire pit, and an infinity pool.
The main house and rancho have high-speed fiber optic Wifi. We have 2 electric hot water heaters so that multiple showers & a hot bubble bath can be taken at once without any fear of running out of hot water for those long showers.
Comfortable living spaces with high-quality finishes and teak furniture throughout. The property was designed to have the natural breezes travel through the living areas at this higher elevation and therefore is not air conditioned, but ceiling fans are installed throughout all of the sleeping spaces and outdoor rancho when desired. Eeeeek; no air condition !?!? We know, we are those people too and would absolutely have it if we were even slightly uncomfortable, but it is truly not needed and not used by anyone at this elevation.
The spacious outdoor, covered rancho is the perfect place to watch the 5:00am morning rush hour traffic of the toucans and parrots while relaxing in a rocking chair with your morning Costa Rican Coffee. Consider a morning float in the pool, a bubble bath in the zen garden, a dip in one of the many private waterfalls in our area, book a massage at the house, or order up a breakfast detox drink to start your day.
This property is ideal for 1-3 couples wishing to travel together (or a family with older kids). Although we love children, the layout of this home is very private having the 2 detached casitas off of the main house making this a better fit for adults. Teens would likely feel comfortable with their own space, but parents might not feel comfortable with little ones in a detached space. We recommend 16+, but please talk to us about your children and their ages so we can help you decide if this is a good layout for your younger children.
From San Jose Airport, we are 4 hours
From Quepos airport, we are 1 hour
From the coast, we are 30 minutes (Dominical Beach being the closest)
From an abundance of waterfalls, we are the bullseye
From the 2nd largest city in Costa Rica, we are 30 minutes (San Isidro)

About the host
Hosted by Ted Zinselmeier
This home is owned by 2 couples:
Married 16 years, Ted & Shanna have traveled the world - All 7 Continents together! They changed careers & bought a travel agency in 2011 to help others plan trips around the world. One of their equally adventurous clients (Cory & Mandi) became travel partners, then lifelong friends. After exploring Costa Rica together discovering there is no place like it and fell in love with the culture and natural beauty, both couples fell in love with this Balinese style home to vacation together. Since, they've traveled to every region of Costa Rica to learn it firsthand in order to help all of their clients get as much out of their experience as possible.
Cory and Mandi have been married 17 years and have always loved all things animals and nature. They have spent nearly their whole lives working with animals and educating others about natural environments. When they met Shanna and Ted it was a perfect friendship; they travel everywhere together and laugh until their bellies hurt. Their passions to explore the world have taken them to far and exotic places, but Costa Rica stole all hearts. The Pura Vida life is like none other.
