About this property

Magical Woodland Retreat 8mi from Mt. Rainier’s Nisqually Entrance!

1 set of twin-bed Bunkbeds are offered on main floor and 1 queen bed on the upper-floor loft. 1 full bathroom w/ bathtub/shower. Electric wall heater and wood-burning stove for heat. Fully-equipped kitchen and plenty of seating for everyone!

**Due to our rural location, we are not able to offer discounts or refunds due to power and/or wifi outages.** The wood-burning stove/fireplace will provide heat inside the cabin, and a flashlight and lantern are available for light.

At Tahoma Park House, we offer complimentary Wifi and a starter bundle of firewood to make your stay as stress-free as possible! And the kitchen is stocked with coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, olive oil, vegetable oil, salt and pepper, and individual packets of condiments, so you can worry about the big stuff - like did you bring your hiking boots!

This cabin is one of two that we host; both situated at the end of a small community of cabins (5 cabins including these two). The community is surrounded by 1,000+ acres of Elbe Hills State Forest for your exploration and total serenity. There is a State Road that you can walk (or four-wheel) about a mile long and it will take you all the way to a "beach" on the Nisqually River. The other direction takes you towards Ashford, but is a bit more overgrown and longer.

On the property, both cabins share the "meadow space" and tree-fort with the slide. Apart from that, each cabin faces a different direction and offer plenty of privacy even though they are within about 30 yards of each other. It's the best of both worlds whether you rent just one of the cabins and want some privacy, or if you want to rent out both cabins for a larger get together and have separate spaces.

Both cabins have waterfront about half of the year when the Sahara Creek runs (November to June). The rest of the year, the creek bed is dry.

We loved our stay in this adorable, homey cabin in the woods by Mt Rainier National Park. It was a great location, clean, comfortable, with so many perfect little touches. My family all decided it was our favorite place we stayed on our PNW road trip. The owner was very responsive and even helped us with recommendations when we got a flat tire. Highly recommend.

The perfect stay!

The cabin was lovely and just a short drive from the park entrance. The cabin was clean and well stocked. My family enjoyed building a camp fire at the fire pit, playing ball outside and playing Nintendo in the evenings. We can’t wait to return.

cute retreat

Well built, well equipped Tiny retreat great for small families or you can rent one of the other nearby cabins and enjoy a multi-family gathering in the well equipped common area. Convenient and near to town. Do recommend having a cooler for drinks/food as there isn't much room in the vintage fridge.

Work trip

loved the location, it was clean and comfortable. I didnt like the smokey smell from the fire place, but wasnt a huge deal and got used to it quickly. I was tempted to start a fire, but didnt need the heat and didnt want a smokey experience. The home is cute and lovely. I would stay there again.

The perfect quiet retreat

I stayed in this lovely little cabin for a few nights in March as a writing retreat, and it was perfect. The cabin is so well stocked (and beautifully decorated) and the hosts have thought of everything you could need. I didn't get out much to explore except for a few walks in the surrounding area (note that there are multiple other cabins within eyesight), but the setting was so beautiful.

Cozy Cabin

We stayed here overnight with our family of 4 including 2 boys, ages 7 and 9. We had the best time! The cabin was meticulous and well stocked. Our kids loved the treats including popcorn and hot chocolate. We grilled oysters outside that we purchased at Pikes Place. I wish we could have stayed longer but we are traveling south to San Francisco during our spring break trip. Highly recommend!!

Great family cabin!

A perfect home base cabin for a trip to Mt. Rainier! Very close to the park entrance and also close to a couple restaurants and stores. Our two boys (7 and 4) loved playing in the yard and on the porch. Wonderful place to stay!

Title: Not a magical stay, not in the least bit

We had high hopes based on the reviews, but the stay was disappointing. The cabin is in a beautiful location near the national park entrance, but it felt too tight for our family of four—better suited for a couple looking for a rustic experience. It’s also still about 45 minutes to Paradise and 2 hours to Sunrise Point. We found that the stairs are a safety concern—my husband tripped down two steps. We were fortunate it wasn’t from the top. Families with young children or anyone who may need to get up at night should be especially cautious when considering this rental. There was a child gate at the top. The kitchen is in need of updating. The stove didn’t work properly, and many items were old, stained, and should be replaced. We planned to cook but ended up eating out more than expected. After checkout, we were charged 44 on top of the 115 cleaning fee for “unwashed” dishes—even though I had no choice but to leave two soaked pots due to the lack of proper scrubbing supplies. The host, Ashley sent a photo of dishes that were clearly washed and drying. There were dead bugs on the windowsill upon arrival, no screen door, mosquitoes, and hardly any storage space. The cabin felt hot and cramped, though the beds were comfortable and fans were provided. Ashley was responsive before and during our stay. Unfortunately, we were not permitted to use the firepit due to the burn ban in effect.Just sharing my honest experience to add a different perspective.

Loved our stay!

Cute place with everything you need to cook a nice dinner. The shower was nice and the bed was so comfortable. The entrance to the national park is right down the street. We enjoyed the fire pit as well. There are other cabins around, but it still felt private. The communication with our host was great as well. There is no place to get groceries anywhere near this area so come prepared.
