A wonderful little cottage on the lake. We were catching fish as soon as we got there. And don’t miss the beautiful sunsets.

Great family getaway

Nice little spot with great views of the lake. Kept us warm when the weather was stormy, and the kayaks were fun to take out when the sun came out.

Cosy cottage

It worked fine for us for a very winter getaway and is close to Shipshawana which is what I wanted. It is cosy so if you are looking for something spacious not the place.

Highschool friends meeting again after a year away at college.

This property was extremely nice! The property manager was extremely helpful with some problems I was facing. The kayaks and paddle boats are extremely nice as well!

A true cozy cottage.

Cottage was clean, comfortable and attractive. Well appointed kitchen. Host is responsive. Beautiful view of large lake out the front door. This was our third time staying at The Cottages. Hope to again.

Our trip

It was great. The lake is small and beautiful. Will worth the money to stay there. The cabin was cozy. We have not got our deposit back as promise yet is the only bad thing I see about this whole thing

Hi Cindy! Thanks for taking the time to review our cottage. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I think the issue with the deposit is that we only did a pre-authorization (may have shown as a pending charge) on your credit card which would only be actually charged it there were damages. The hold on funds get released 5 days after your departure but you wouldn’t see a “deposit” back if nothing was actually charged. Sorry for the confusion! Please let us know if you have any other questions and hope to see you back again next summer!

Very Small

No dish washer or clothes washer or dryer, so best for short term vacations.

Great for families and dogs!

The cottage was fantastic! Right on the water with all the amenities. Sand hill grocery is in walking distance and has amazing meats and their famous ice cream cones! Location is less than 40 min from Kalamazoo and only twenty minutes from Broadway Meyer park which has multiple hiking trails and a massive dog park, which our pups loved! For food, the Local has amazing pizza and also sells carry out beers from local Michigan breweries! Book today for a wonderful getaway!

Quite and Peaceful

Overall it was great. Would have liked to have left the door open for fresh air but it wouldn't latch. The place was cozy and the lake was clean. Did a lot of catch and release, fishing was great. Would and will recomend

Rustic cabin

Pros: great amenities (kayaks, paddle boards, etc) were easy to use and access, shaded deck with nice chairs and table, lake was clean and clear with sandy bottom. Dog friendly. Cons: air con was in living room and bedrooms got stuffy and humid, bedrooms were smaller than I thought they’d be, double bed mattress needs replaced (you roll to middle), shower was tiny and shower head was low for tall people. This would be a good place for young families to enjoy a lake vacation but our family of adults found it a bit rustic and some inconveniences like the small shower and bad mattress will send us searching for a different place next year.

Weekend getaway

A comfortable retreat from the city life and if you are needing a little R&R, this is the place to be. The owners were very friendly and so helpful with any questions we had. The lake view was breathtaking. Forgot there was no dishwasher but turned out we did ok without it. Went to a sunflower patch at a nearby farm, enjoyed the kiddy size ice cream at the store. Not to mention all the fresh meats you could use for the grilling and than there was the ice cream. Wow you have to get some when you visit. Everyone enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boards and water activities available for us to use. After a day on the water sit back and enjoy the stars around the fire pit. It was what we needed. Ahhh it was hard to leave this peaceful place. Thank you Jenny for sharing such an amazing place with us.
