Beautiful new home at Kentucky Lake with community pool! Close to Murray State!

Welcome to Heron's Rest! Our new single-story home on Kentucky lake is situated on a private wooded 2 acre lot just 0.9 miles to the boat launch with screened back porch, outdoor fire pit, and boat parking area. We are in the Western Shores subdivision which is a 1,218 acre waterfront community located just outside of Murray, Kentucky on Kentucky Lake. It offers year round activities to include a community pool/hot tub, wooded nature trails, and private boat slips that are available on a first-come basis . Enjoy fishing and water sports in the Summer and hiking the nature trails in the Fall. If you are looking for a quiet escape you found it! Our home is located 2 hours from Nashville, one hour from Paducah and 15 minutes from the outdoor activities of Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.
There are three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and the two guestrooms each have two full size beds. There are a total of five beds in the house. 
* This property may not be safe for unsupervised children due to the elevation of the front porch and exterior stairs.

Girls vaca

We 4 golden girls go on vacation every year. This house was very comfortable, clean, nicely laid out. It was a little far from town, and the pool, but that was okay. Maybe needs a few more cooking utensils. Communication with the owner was prompt and helpful. Overall great place.

Girls Weekend Getaway

Annual girls trip. We came across this Gem on VRBO. Absolutely stunning ! We had an amazing time and will definitely be back . The owners are fabulous! The area is breathtaking and there is so much to see . Will definitely come back!

Beautiful Home

We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean, beautiful, and exactly as advertised. The area was quiet with lots of wildlife. We saw deer, and bison at the ranch next door. The community pool was perfect for the hot weather we had during our stay. Couldn't have asked for better accommodations.

This house was beautiful. It was new and everything was spotless. The grounds were very nice. It was perfect for our girl's weekend. We used the clubhouse pool. The view was fantastic.

Great girls trip!

The house was incredible! Smartly decorated, great neighborhood, very clean. Lots of wildlife around the property/neighborhood (deer, fox, frogs, hummingbirds). The community pool was very nice with a great view of the lake (9 min drive). We decided to dine in one evening so we picked up groceries in Murray. Kitchen had all of the tools needed to make a great dinner. Used the fire pit and made s’mores. We are planning to stay again :)

Best stay ever

This is one of the most beautiful houses we have ever stayed at. Everything was excellent! We grilled almost every night and enjoyed the fire pit. The kitchen had everything we needed. The area was amazing. People in the area were friendly. I hope to stay again next year.

Beautiful home

This was a beautiful home that was in a residential area but felt completely private. We made good use of the large well equipped kitchen and of the patio with the fire pit. Everything was clean and in excellent condition. It was a 20 minute drive to a number of very nice hiking trails. Overall, very pleased with our stay.

Superb Stay

We stayed here with friends and were amazed by this place! It was the nicest, cleanest VRBO I have ever stayed in. The thoughtfulness of the hosts made it so easy and more enjoyable! The house and property were clean and tidy. The little extras were everywhere! We enjoyed both porches, the fire pit and walking out in nature and on the roads. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and only wished it was longer!! Thank you Daughtry’s for all!!

Girls getaway to Kentucky Lake

It was a fabulous girls weekend retreat!! The house was perfect for 5 moms, wives and friends looking for respite in a quiet, secluded area near the lake. The home had EVERYTHING we could have needed, down to all the materials needed for the fire pit. The front porch was perfect for our morning coffee and reading while listening to the sounds of nature. The soaking tub was an added bonus to relax in after a day at the lake. The views from the community pool were stunning and calming making for the perfect pool days. The tankless water heater was a perk allowing us to all shower without worry about getting cold water. I would recommend this place for anyone traveling to the area.

Fantastic Family Vacation!

WOW! For our family vacation tradition, we rented a house to unplug and enjoy time together -----> this property, house and it's hosts were AMAZING! We used every amenity along with the community pool. Met so many nice neighbors in the area and saw so much wildlife (including the bison and their babies)! We would like to thank the hosts, Wendy and John! Our family gives it all thumbs up, 10 out of 10 - best of the best! We had the best time making all the memories! We will be back! THANK YOU! :)

Beautiful home in a peaceful setting.

Loved the house. Very clean and decorated beautifully. It was perfect for what we needed. The owners were very hospitable and left a goodie bag with snacks and come local jam which was great. We had activities going on the days we stayed so we weren’t at the house a lot so we didn’t get to use the fire pit, but hopefully will the next time we come. The pool was also closed for the season when we stayed so I can’t review that either. We loved the front porch and swing and sitting on the back porch to watch the hummingbirds. Nice to have TVs in all the rooms too. The guest bedroom mattress was overly firm for my liking but my parents liked theirs. It’s just a preference thing. Had to walk to an empty lot on the next street over to get a glimpse of the lake because houses seem to block it in other locations. Maybe when the leaves fall there is a better chance of a view. All in all it was a great stay and we will stay again!

Fabulous Getaway

If I could give this location more than 5 stars, I would! The house was beautiful and looked like something out of a Chip and Joanna Gaines episode! We walked around when we got there and oohed and aahed over every detail we saw. Our favorite spots were the bed swing on the front porch and the firepit (super comfortable chairs!). We always ate our dinner on the back porch at the nice long farmhouse table. The area was super quiet and so peaceful with just one neighbor across the street. We rented a pontoon boat at Lynnhurst Family Resort one day (about 20 minutes from the house) and spent several days at the subdivision pool (3.5 miles from the house). It's a gradual incline entrance pool with an awesome view of Kentucky Lake. Also enjoyed the hot tub. Each time we were the only ones at the pool. Very nice facility. I messaged Wendy (the owner) a couple of times with questions I had and received an almost immediate response to my questions. Very efficient. All we had to do when we checked out was take out the trash and lock the door. No starting a load of laundry, dishwasher or stripping the beds. Loved that part (ha!). This was a group of girls who had not been together since 2019 and this was a very much needed vacation together. Memories were made, tears were cried and laughter was loud! I've already told several people about this house. This house will always be on my "return list"!

Perfect weekend getaway!

This beautiful home was perfect for our long weekend get away! My husband and I met my sister and brother in law here (it was about in the middle of our respective homes). Wendy was a great host! She was very quick to answer all of our questions, even during the stay when we were looking for all the best places to go and things to do. Check in and check out were contactless and easy. The house was close enough to all the things we wanted to do. The house was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes we needed during our stay. There were plenty of empty cabinets for us to store our boxes and bags of food and drinks out of the way. There was even a thoughtful welcome basket with few bottled waters, snacks, and small bag of "things you might have forgotten” on the counter as well as fresh fruit in the fruit bowl. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels. Mornings and evenings on the back screened porch were peaceful, except for all the birds calling - we heard the song of the Whippoorwill one night, saw one of the first hummingbirds of the season daily, and saw an armadillo walking the fence line one night. We visited the Golden Pond Visitors Center, parked and walked over the Eggner’s Ferry Bridge, drove through the Elk and Bison Prairie, hiked the Hematite Lake Trail and the Honker Lake Trail. We went to the Hop Hound Brewery, the Poca Terra Winery, The Dam Brewhaus, and Taste of the South (for breakfast on our way out). We highly recommend this all! (Poca Terra and the Brewhaus were a bit more of a drive, but both well worth it!) We didn’t have a chance to use the fire pit because it rained one night and was too windy for a fire the next night, but there was plenty of wood and branches stacked nearby for use. We also did not get to use the pool / hot tub because it was out of season. We have already talked about going back to the Land Between the Lakes area because there were many other trails and things that we didn’t have time for. We would definitely rent from Wendy again!!

This home was beautiful, clean and great for our family. We met our daughters, sons in law and our 11th old grandson for a short vacation. The property was so well maintained and clean, we had no worries regarding his health or safety. The fully equipped kitchen made meal prep and clean up a breeze. The community pool was absolutely wonderful. All of the amenities both inside and outside made relaxing and family time absolutely special. Our hosts were informative, accessible and very friendly. We would highly recommend this property and we’re already planning our stay for Summer 2026!
