THE LOCATION

Vernon Township is in Sussex County New Jersey, USA. It is located about 1 hour from New York City and was established on April 8, 1793. Iron mining was prevalent during the mid-to-late 19th century. Mines such as Canister Mine, Williams Mine, and the Pochuck Mine created industry which spawned local businesses and brought rail travel to the town.
Today Vernon and the immediate area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Here you will find a landscape consisting of residential and resort communities, farmland, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, bird watching, barns, horse farms and stables, lakes, fishing, and just so much natural beauty. The famous Appalachian Trail (AT) even runs through it! You will be amazed on what you will find only 1 hour outside of New York City.

Great stay for chasing the snow.

We stayed one night to get the early morning snow the next day. Room was perfect for our stay. The pool and hot tubs made for a fun night and a great activity after we the slopes got packed. The store on site has everything you need and more. Always a great stay.

What a nice hidden gem!! Perfect for a two night getaway without kids. Great location, pool and hot tub, good restaurants near by(Milano, and Industry), close to a beautiful scenic hike(Stairway to Heaven). We'll be back!!

Exactly what we needed

Beautiful place, perfect location, easy checkin/checkout. King sized bed plus full sized pullout proved plenty of sleeping area for 2 adults and 2 kids. The fireplace was great, bathroom super spacious It was chilly in October (obviously since it’s jersey) but the kids loved the hot tub and were even insane enough to jump into the pool (post spartan race so the cold probably felt good). I would definitely recommend.

Fit our basic needs when our preferred lodging fell through

The location fit our needs with a grocery and drugstore nearby. This place is better geared for young people and young families that aren't concerned with cleanliness and noise. It was not a quiet oasis. The laundry situation was not what I expected. I found 4 washers/4 dryers on the main level that were packed with filthy clothes from mountain bikers washing their mud caked clothes from the rain. The machines were really gross. The poor cleaning staff was hustling to try and keep up with mud on floors, elevators, laundry. People were lined up to wash clothes and I spent 3 hours running from floor to floor(when I heard of a "secret Laundry" on the 4th floor as well) to wash 2 loads. The cleanliness of our unit was subpar and our socks were very dirty. I would not stay here again, but grateful that we even found this when our first accommodations fell through. The bed was quite firm and the pillows were pretty flat. That being said, the communication with the property manager was excellent, and she did her best to rectify what she could.

Nice Location

Nice location with few activities to do within walking distance. Pool was quite and game room was a good bonus. Took lift to top of mountain for nice view and watched the mountain bikes. Only negative was really no on-site dining option but plenty of food close by.
