About this property
Serene Hideaway near nature and the Little Spokane River
Peace, serenity, deer, moose, birds, river sounds, and privacy. Enjoy a private entrance to this daylight basement guest suite.
Access to the guest suite has a portion of the walkway that is grass with a slight slope. In the winter months there may be snow.
House trained well-behaved dogs are welcome too! There is a severe cat allergy, so unfortunately NO CATS are allowed.
A home away from home. The guest suite contains a large bedroom with a king size bed. There is also space for one or two cots. Please let us know if you need them and we will make them available.
The living/dining area has a Flexsteel couch, electric recliner, two chairs, and a 75" screen TV with Xfinity Flex streaming and high-speed internet.
The kitchen is unfinished and ugly, but full sized and fully functional, just not finished and unfortunately there is no dishwasher. There is an RO faucet attached to the sink for the best water you will ever taste. Also in the kitchen area, there is a full-size washer and dryer. Plans are in the works to finish the kitchen and second bedroom.
The full size bathroom with tub/shower has been updated.
We are upgrading our land and occasionally there will be a dump truck off-loading dirt and debris during normal business days. He is very quick, but sometimes we do not know when he is coming.
We live on-site upstairs; we work outside of the home and have to be up early those days, we try to walk as lightly as possible, but consider this apartment living, and you will hear occasional footsteps and noises.
Walk the loop, or sit outside on your private patio and listen to the river (which can be heard, but the flow may vary depending on the season). Maybe see our resident eagle in flight and laugh at the antics of the squirrels. Watch deer, moose, turkeys and many birds.
Enjoy peace, serenity, and nature. Quiet and calming - we call it our hideaway.
Our cleaning fee is purposely minimal as we do our own cleaning. It is very much appreciated, since there is no dishwasher, that you wash your own dishes and let them dry in the rack. This allows us the time to provide an exceptionally clean space.

Wonderful, clean place in a quiet neighborhood. Only stayed for a night before catching an early flight, but the unit was stocked and ready for more long term stays. Felt right at home!!
Very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Nice touches to make it very dog friendly. Nice yard but beware, no fence and deer and turkeys are likely to visit. Will definitely be back.
Great property and hosts! Hosts allowed us to have a small birthday party for my 1 year old granddaughter. There was ample parking and a beautiful lawn/outdoor area to enjoy for the birthday party.
It’s an amazing location. It’s a roomy studio. There’s plenty of room. It’s well stocked the area for the pets is great. It’s like having your own private backyard and the hosts were extremely nice, very responsive and very accommodating.
We loved our stay here. My daughter especially appreciated all the color books and games. It was well stocked and accurately described. Easy drive into Spokane.
This property was amazing! So clean, well furnished, away from the bustle of the city. The hosts were fantastic and I definitely plan on staying here again! A great find!
Fantastic ADU next to the East Spokane River. Cozy and clean. Perfect place for us to stay while visiting family in north Spokane. Would definitely return and highly recommend.
Heather & Jon were great hosts. Their listing is just as pictured if not better. Pet friendly & very responsive to any questions that I had. Would stay there again if we were ever in the area!

Thank you! We are appreciative of you and choosing us.
Accommodating hosts, nice view into woods and seating on patio. Nicely appointed space, and extra cotton blankets for sleeping. The room darkening shades were much appreciated on summer solstice night!
We loved staying with Heather! The place was spotless and so cozy in a beautiful location. We had wonderful weather too and were able to enjoy walking next to the river. Our furry friend felt right at home as well!
We stayed at the property as it was close to our wedding venue. Beautiful property and the host was absolutely wonderful!! Perfect end to our perfect day!
The place is pretty big and has a lot of space. There is a comfortable bed, couch, a giant TV, a big kitchen, and it was very clean. The owners are nice and we had everything we needed.

Adam, Thank you for the feedback. We plan to make it bigger and better. Come back anytime!
This place had everything that we could of imagined needing. Heather was so sweet and prompt with any questions that we had. The bed was so comfortable and the space felt so comfy and like home. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again.
Nice quiet hideaway in the walkout basement of a house. Large rooms and, as advertised, kitchen in progress but very functional. AC is managed from upstairs and kept the downstairs very cool. Close to the Little Spokane river (a block away).

About the host
Hosted by Heather and Jon Barnhart
My husband I love to travel ourselves. Our best experiences have been with homes away from home. A place where we are comfortable lounging and relaxing. We are striving to provide that to our guests with our 95% newly remodeled home. We are still a work in progress and have more plans in place for the kitchen and 2nd bedroom. We have two dogs ourselves and 6 grandchildren.
Why they chose this property
We both grew up in the Spokane area and have lived here our entire lives. We have lived in the Colbert area for over 20 years, it is peaceful, beautiful, and we have a lot of visits from wild life of all sorts. Deer, moose, turkeys, hummingbirds, all sorts of other birds and squirrels. It is our space for serenity.
