Barn on the Bay 300' Lighted Pier 4BR Palacios Bay House Sleeps 10
Welcome to Barn on the Bay — your private waterfront base on Turtle Bay, just outside Palacios on the quiet end of the Texas Gulf Coast. The 300-foot lighted pier is the centerpiece: fish for redfish and trout off the pier at sunrise, sit on the end of the pier and watch the sunrises and sunsets. Drop crab traps along the pier, and watch the moon come up over the bay with the pier deck lights glowing after dinner.
WHY GUESTS COME BACK HERE • Your own 300-foot lighted pier — fish, crab, or just walk it after dark • Uninterrupted views of Turtle and West Matagorda Bays from every deck • Sleeps 10 across 4 bedrooms — perfect for two families or fishing groups • Community boat ramp seconds away — bring your boat, tie up at the pier • 3 miles from town, with the kind of quiet that's hard to find on the coast • Community has one road that loops the community, kids can safely ride their bikes
THE HOME Four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, fully furnished, all linens included. Open living and dining flow to a covered back porch that stays shaded 90% of the day — even in August, you can sit out and feel the breeze without the burn. The kitchen is stocked for real cooking: stainless appliances, Keurig, gas grill, full set of pots, pans, and cookware. Smart TVs in the living room and master.
BEST FOR • Fishing families — kids can pier-fish safely, adults can launch the boat • Birders and nature travelers — Aransas NWR (whooping cranes) is 60 minutes south • Multi generational trips — quiet, walk able, very little traffic on the point • Couples who want coastal quiet, not the Galveston or Port A crowds • Kayaks - The community boat ramp has a kayak launch , the bay marsh areas are perfectly suited for kayak fishing and sight casting for redfish.
WHAT TO BRING Beach towels (we provide bath and hand towels only), your tackle, your boat if you've got one, and binoculars if birding is on the list. Everything else is here.
BOAT RENTAL Palacios has one vendor for boat rentals and they will deliver to the house.
THE AREA Palacios is a working bay town — shrimp boats in the harbor, locally famous Trans Restaurant for fresh Gulf seafood, and a slow pace that does not exist further down the coast. Lighthouse Beach in Port Lavaca and Matagorda Beach are both within an hour for guests who want sand. Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is one hour south and worth the day trip in winter when the whooping cranes are wintering.
PART OF THE FLOAT AWAY VACATIONS FAMILY We also own three properties on River Road near New Braunfels on the Guadalupe River: Guadalupe Getaway, Guadalupe Breeze, and Jus Chillin. Coast for a few days, then come tube the river for the second half — many of our guests do both trips in the same year. Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees. Looking forward to having you on the bay.

Kevin and Fran were great hosts. They were easy to get a hold of when we needed something. The place was clean and easy to check in and out. We would stay here again.
The property is very clean and the kitchen is well stocked. It has its own pier which is great for fishing. Many beach and walk locations nearby. We really enjoyed it.
This is a nice quiet place to gather your thoughts and relax. Enjoyed fishing and the views are awesome. Would definitely go again.

One of the most precious things we love about the place is the peace and quiet away from our busy lives. Thank you for trusting us with your getaway needs
The house is comfortable and in a great location for morning and evening fishing sessions on the pier. Close to Matagorda beach for surf fishing. Very quiet neighborhood and great backyard to sit and read a book while taking in the bay views.
We took a father/son fishing trip to Turtle Bay and stayed at the Barn on the Bay. We had a great visit! Fran and Kevin were great hosts, check-in/out was seamless, the house was clean and everything was as advertised. Most importantly there was a fishing pier the kids spent all day on. We would definitely stay here again!
This was the perfect vacation. The house was perfect. There was plenty of room in the house, the yard was big, and the outside pier was awesome to fish off of. We will be back! The hosts are great and attentive as well, always messaging you back quickly if you need something.
This property was great for all of us. We enjoyed night fishing off the pier. This trip was mostly based upon fishing but, we felt right at home once we were done for the day. There was everything one may need to cook. Thank you so much for sharing the property.

I’m so glad y’all enjoyed your stay Hope to have y’all back
The property was very clean. Fran and Kevin were very accommodating. The area is very quite. The fishing pier is great for catching Trout, Reds, Flounder and very large Black drums and Reds. Can't wait to rent again.
We were looking for a quiet property with a good lighted pier. The Barn on the Bay really fit the bill. The owners conscientious upkeep of the property have made it stand out from other coastal properties...no fishy/shrimpy smell in the kitchen! A real treat for adults and a really unique location that was a great reminder of days gone past for my family.

Thank you for choosing our property for your stay, we strive to keep all of our vacation properties in top condition for our guest.
Thank you again
Grandsons loved fishing on the lighted peer. Adults enjoyed the outside decks. Kitchen was perfect with all the necessary utensils, pots and pans. The best part though was how graciously helpful Fran and Kevin were when VRBO’s system dropped the ball. Our entire family wants to go back. We will.
We've stayed three times in this neighborhood and this has been our favorite property so far. Kevin and Fran have made lots of updates. It's great having the boat dock at the house and a public ramp right down the street. While the fish didn't cooperate this time, we still had a blast celebrating Easter and hanging out with friends.
