About this property
Dreamy Village dream Loft w/ HUGE open office, piano, full floor, plants 350sqft
The Loft is a dreamy home base for exploring the city’s trendiest downtown neighborhoods. Live like a local amongst it all and come home to enormous, sunny, plant-filled living spaces to relaxin! A massive open floor plan provides a comfortable urban oasis + separate dedicated open office space with a conference table is on the North side. The main living room features a baby grand piano adjacent to the south facing windows. @ thevillageloftstudio
This magnificent, sunny loft is the only true loft of its kind in Greenwich Village -- a true artist's loft with 15ft ceilings, Corinthian columns, and 4 + bedrooms. (there is an additional 5th flex bedroom / private office with single bed.)
Very rare to have large open living spaces (3,500 sq ft) AND many private bedrooms in the heart of downtown.
Pets are welcome with prior approval on case by case basis and additional fee.
We take pride in interior design, there have been numerous renovations, so much has gone into the space, please be respectful of all the love and hard work.
CLEANING FEE:
*Includes 2 cleans in first month. Longer stays incur additional fee dependent on length of stay. Large groups requiring more frequent cleaning will have custom rate dependent on group's needs.
A Little History:
Originally built in 1876 as a canning factory, later it was used as a repair facility for firetrucks, and finally it became headquarters of the Gay and Lesbian Liberation Front. Home to celebrities and artists over the years including acclaimed Argentinian painter Juan Ronaldo who hosted parties for artists and poetry readings attended by Beat poets featuring readings from Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg in the 60s. The Loft’s roots are reflected in its grand 15’ wooden beam ceilings, hardwood floors, and exposed brick walls.
More About The Space:
The Loft’s interior is a combination of avant-garde early 70s architects and a modern renovation in 2017. The loft’s extraordinarily high wood beam ceilings lend grandeur to its principle layout—two enormous open spaces—one to the north against bustling W. 3rd st and one to the south against a silent alley way called Minetta Lane. A true artist loft-- the floor plan is divided to maximize large, open living space while also providing private bedrooms. Most of the apartment exists on the quiet south side which a features walk-in closet, two bathrooms, a fully loaded, open-design chef’s kitchen, library/reading nook, dining area, and a TV lounge. This area has a lofted bedroom with a queen bed, separate bedroom with a twin bed, and two interior bedrooms; 1 queen and 1 twin. The north side is a dedicated work space featuring several desks and a giant conference room table. The north side has a separate bedroom with a queen, and an additional private sleeping space in the office.
Additional beds/ sleeping surfaces include a daybed in the main living room as well as a queen sized sleeper sofa and the enormous red couch in the TV lounge. Additional beds can be made upon request in common areas depending on the size of the group. Everyone is the space must be accounted for in the rental. The Loft sleeps many people comfortably though we only allow 8 people max for long term stays -- can make exceptions if folks are joining for shorter periods, your reservation may expand with transparency and planning.
No events / no commercial use. Any "dinner parties" / gatherings of any size must be discussed and approved in advance. Undisclosed events results in loss of security deposit and termination of reservation.
In general, we make The Loft available as housing to tenants who rent from us. The insurance on the site covers registered guests only, the rental is not intended to be a meeting place / workspace / hosting arena for folks outside of the reservation with the exception of a few visitors at one time for short periods. If you are in town to visit someone, the expectation any gathering is at their place, not ours thank you.
