Misleading listing

1.The listing said it was air-conditioned; I have the screen shots to prove it. When we arrived in a heat wave, this 4th-floor walk-up was 90 degrees F. I called Andrew who admitted that a/c is in the common areas only (read: staircase). I need a/c for health reasons. He sent over a portable and charged me an additional $450 to rent it for the month. I have asked for the $450 back because he falsely advertised the place as having it. He has not responded. 2. The apartment is on the fourth floor, exactly 44 stairs up, with no elevator. Good exercise, but difficult to carry heavy things that far up. This should be mentioned in the listing. 3. The parking space in a smelly alley was $250 and is not secured unless your car is short. Our Subaru stuck out, and therefore, the gate on it could not slide shut. Within ten days, our locked bike rack and our trailer hitch were stolen off the car. The space is next to the building’s trash dumpster – also not secured. People rummage through the dumpster, throwing trash out everywhere, every night, and drunks pass out in the $250 parking space. Andrew offered us two other spots – both 10 to 20 minutes away from the apartment. All of this should be explained in the listing. 4. The unit is said to be luxurious and well furnished. It is not. The furniture is uncomfortable, cheap, and painful to sit on. The kitchen is poorly stocked: no hotpads, ice cube tray, mixing bowls, wine glasses, dish strainer, measuring cups or spoons, tongs, etc. And no vacuum cleaner or mop. It is not outfitted for its minimum one-month stay. 5. The lock on the back door does not work. Occasionally we could latch it; mostly we couldn’t. 6. The electrical outlets in both bathrooms and one bedroom do not work. 7. The deck has a nasty pile of fake grass in one corner that other residents obviously let their pets urinate on. It makes the whole deck smell like urine. 8. The sink in the en-suite bedroom is tiny and jammed under a protruding medicine cabinet so you can’t brush your teeth over it. 9. Pluses: Good appliances, nice layout, great nearby farmer’s market. Close to English Bay, Coal Harbor, Stanley Park, restaurants. I would not recommend this rental, or anyplace managed by Plan A.
