The Hanalei Colony Resort complex is currently in the process of updating and repairing the resort's septic system, which is the source of the smell you encountered. While unpleasant at times, it's necessary for the continued operations of the resort, and should lead to marked improvements once completed! We have made sure to dispose of the broken beach chairs, however, and we appreciate your heads up. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with an updated experience in the future, and we're wishing you safe travels on your next adventure. Aloha!

If we failed to handle the guest's failure to check out on time with enough patience, we genuinely regret the lapse. We had a cleaning crew waiting in the parking lot for an hour and another guest checking in that day, so there was some stress involved.
