A Symphony of Malfunction - The house of DisrepairWhere to even start on this one. Nearly everything on this house is in some state of disrepair. The stove and oven didn’t work at all our entire trip, and while the property manager offered to have someone come out the last day of our stay to look at it we declined. Probably the worst stocked kitchen I have seen, but didn’t matter because…..no stove. No doors shut, outside areas were all dirty. Trash from the last residents still in the backyard. Trains all night long. Will never stay again, and advise you don’t either.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Sorry to hear the stay wasn’t quite what you hoped for. Our team jumped on the stove issue right away, and the tech found the gas line to the house had been turned off, which explains why it wasn’t working. We offered to have it checked while you were there, but totally get that it didn’t make sense since you were heading out soon.
We’ll take another look at the kitchen setup and outdoor areas to keep everything in good shape for future stays. Appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback since it helps us keep improving and make sure guests have a smoother experience next time around.
After check-in, we attempted to turn on the heat because it was cold. The heat didn't come on nor did the gas turn on when trying to turn on the stove top. We went 2 nights without heat/gas. The security/locks in the house aren't good either. We left the house and locked the door and returned to an unlocked door. We were also in the house and locked the door and a couple of us that stayed there could walk into the house even after we locked it. The steps are also uneven and not fun to walk up and down after long traveling.

Hi Mayada, Thank you for your feedback. We understand how important a warm and comfortable stay is, and we truly regret the delay in restoring the heat and gas. As soon as we learned about the issue, we worked quickly with the gas company to get it resolved. We appreciate your patience during that time.
Regarding the locks, we provided guidance on proper use, and there were no further reports after that. It seems there may have been some confusion with the smart lock, but we’ll still take a look to ensure everything is working as it should. We’re glad to hear the stay improved, and we appreciate your input as we continue to improve our guest experience.

Disliked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Very Disappointing
Stairs outside and inside are steep and uneven. Floors are uneven. Everything is a little grimy. Sheets and towels are old and need to be replaced. No hand towels or kitchen towels. Hair everywhere. Found garbage on the floor when we got there. Close to a fire station and train tracks, so very noisy. Burn holes in one set of sheets. Shower was unclean. Pots and pans are worn out and very grimy. Many interior doors do not latch closed. Attic bedroom has no door. No railing on steep, uneven stairs outside. Bug fell onto stove while we were attempting to cook breakfast. Everything is made for tall people.

Worst rental experience-This was our first visit to Birmingham and we traveled in from out of state with 2 school age kids. We were excited & at the store getting snacks & groceries just before our 4pm check in when we found out that there was a plumbing/maintenance issue in the house that we rented. They offered for us to stay in a near property for the night so they could fix things in the home. I was trying to make the best of the trip & accepted for the night. The new property was not equal in comparison. It was in a very sketchy side of town with a lot of “squatters” all around. You could hear people next door and outside all around talking. There was a tenant upstairs that you could hear every step they took as well as when they flush or turn on water. The floors were covered in black which rubbed off on our feet and socks. The bedrooms up stairs weren’t enclosed & only separated w/ dividers. They told me at the store I would need to buy ground coffee & filters if I wanted coffee..however ..the property was missing a coffee pot. It was the worst sleep of all of our lives. I messaged the agency that night to let them know how awful things were going & I can't continue to stay there - we had to be able to check into the house we rented asap or would need a refund…it’s days later & I’ve followed up many times for the refund amount & status but I still have not rec’d. This was the most stressful rental and rental company never had a viable solution nor answer.

Hi Danielle, We wanted to personally extend our sincere apologies for the challenges you encountered during your recent trip to Birmingham, especially considering it was a special occasion with your children. It's disheartening to hear that your experience at both the initially booked property and the alternative accommodation didn't align with your expectations.
While we can't control the neighborhood vibes, our previous guests haven't had issues there. Still, everyone's comfort level is different, and I genuinely get where you're coming from. Your feedback about the missing coffee maker and cleanliness matters a great deal to us, and we're taking it seriously.
Regarding the room dividers, I've made sure to pass on your comments to our teams, and we're actively addressing this issue.
Once again, we're deeply sorry for the inconvenience you faced, and we appreciate your feedback. It helps us rectify and improve our services. If you decide to give us another chance in the future, we'll strive to ensure a seamless and comfortable experience for you and your family.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, historic home! The listing pictures accurately depict the house's condition and we loved the location. The Gatos and Beans Cat Cafe is just a minute away and was a highlight of our trip. The Plushy hosts had great communication and made the entire process from booking to check out a breeze. I have stayed in many rental properties and I think these hosts were the quickest to respond that I have ever experienced! We will definitely rent this house again for our next Birmingham trip!
