Very charming, clean property with easy access to anything Vermont has to offer. Check-in was seamless, and the host had all the amenities planned out to cover our stay. Overall it was a great home, quiet, central to the state, and was perfect for us.
Absolutely gorgeous place in beautiful Calais. Elegant and homey with everything one might need. Woke up or went to bed to the sound of loons and owls and a had a bear sighting! Rejuvenating and wonderful stay- thank you!
A Winter Wonderland ,just what we expected. All the ammenties were avaliable and greatly appreciated for a 4 night stay.WiFi was good, two fireplaces but we only set them up as backup in case we lost electricity during the winter storm .No problems, warm and comfortable. The driveway was plowed for our arrival. Our Hosts really thought of everything to make us comfortable. Most people probably visit in summer, but this was our Christmas getaway and it couldn't of been more Merry. Thank you!
Great property in a quiet location with a well equipped kitchen. The host was responsive to our questions, and was proactive about reaching out when the previous renters let him know about a problem with a stove burner, to see if we needed any help with the same issue.
Our 3rd year returning to this wonderful home in Calais! The close proximity to Montpelier and Stowe is a blessing, but the best part is hitting that dirt road on the way to the house. The community is so welcoming, always offering a wave or a smile. The house is situated on a gorgeous piece of land, walking distance to Curtis Pond. We snowshoed the quarter mile down to the pond through 2 feet of pure VT powder - identifying animal prints amongst the birch trees in the snow along the way. Our children (and us adults!) love the sledding hill on the side of the house. The house itself has everything you need, and more! It fits our family of 4 perfectly, but would easily accommodate 2 families! We immediately feel settled when we pull up to the house. Mark is a great host and very attentive. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a true New England escape.
We had a wonderful stay with our family. Property was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Host was welcoming and quick to respond to all questions and needs.
We had a lovely stay at Maple Corner Cottage. The location was perfect, easy bike ride to the corner store and accessible to so many swimming spots, forests, Stowe, Montpelier, etc. The house was clean, well stocked with kitchen supplies (so many coffee making options!), and fit our 4 person family and pup comfortably. We found it easier to drive to the public swimming beach on the pond rather than walk the kayaks down the road to the neighbor's pond access point. The public beach and boat put-in are so close and easy to get to and the swimming out to the dock was refreshing. We would definitely stay here again (wish we had longer).
A quaint cozy lodge! The kitchen had everything I needed to whip up a few meals. Everything was clean and cozy. Definitely go to the whammy bar for dinner if you stay here! Best meals of our whole trip were from the guest chefs.
Our family loved our stay at the Calais home. It has extremely clean, had all the amenities you could want, and felt so cozy and homey. Our family includes 2 young children, and we felt this house was perfect for their needs, as well as ours. We hope to stay here next year as well - we loved it so much!
We had a really nice time. The property was largely what I expected. Very comfortable and clean. There were a few minor issues, but overall, I'd recommend this property. The location is truly the best thing about it.
I've stayed at many VRBO properties and I can honestly say this was one of the most enjoyable. My group was in the area for a ski outing and had a fabulous time here. The photos don't do the house justice; it is super cute, homey, and very well appointed. Additionally, Mark, our host, was super communicative and welcoming.
Will definitely stay here again in the future; I can see this being a fabulous area to visit in the fall.
This house is ideal to hang out, BBQ, paddle board, swim and relax! Also good as a base for day trips to all the cute towns in the area and the excellent Breweries!! (if you are into the best craft beers in the world). Really like the cottage with excellent kitchen and dining area. Recommended for hikers and mountain biking as well!
Home in Calais short walk down a path to Curtis Pond, well furnished, modern kitchen, new bathroom, clean, comfortable beds. Even a washer and dryer for your longer stays. Close to Montpelier, and many other interesting towns to visit within an hours drive. 10 minute walk to Maple Corner store that has everything you need for your stay.
This home is beautifully remodeled and decorated, and fully stocked with everything we could need. It is a large space so there was plenty of room for socializing or finding one's own personal space. We were only there for 4 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. One of the highlights for us was taking the host's paddle boards out on Curtis pond and seeing an adult loon teach their juveniles to fish.
So many things to do nearby and great restaurants and cute shops in Montpelier.
The only downside was that the house is close to the dirt road and that occasional cars drive too fast on it, but overall a beautiful setting.
I would stay there again.
Absolutely gorgeous farmhouse in Maple Corner on Curtis Pond. Modern kitchen and bath with all the classic New England charm of a rural VT farmhouse. Easy drive (15-25 mins depending on road conditions) to town, but the Maple Corner down the road will have most everything you need or forgot! House was fully stocked with kitchen and bath necessities, games/books/toys, outdoor gear, wood+splitter, etc. Property was perfect for winter exploring and sledding. Mark was highly responsive - we even chose to extend our stay! Highly recommend for anyone who loves all of the beauty and sense of community that only rural VT can offer!
