Hello and Welcome to Valley View Farmhouse
Our growing family is excited to have you stay at our Farmhouse, and enjoy the wonderfully diverse area of NE Ohio, the area that we have always referred to as home.
Our house, is situated in an ideal location for a variety of interests. It is only minutes away from a large number of wineries, and within a ½ hour to over 44 wineries, breweries and distilleries. There are also 19 Covered Bridges in Ashtabula County alone to explore. Although you are in the quiet country, it is a short drive to Rt. 90, taking you to the downtown Cleveland area within an hour. With 3 wedding venues nearby, it is an ideal location for a family or friends that need a place to stay. If you like bike trails, there is a 44 mile trail, only 4 miles down the road. Lake Erie, and the summer fun at Geneva on the Lake is 15 miles away, or head down to the Ashtabula Harbor for some shopping, dining, or water biking, canoeing and kayaking. If you go 5 miles in the other direction, you will find yourself heading into Amish areas, where you can find several places to buy “Amish made” items, or have an ice cream and watch the buggies go by around the Mespo Commons. Any direction you go, there are many things to see and do, and then return to the quiet country farmhouse for a relaxed evening under a blanket of bright stars.
Our house is 130 years old and has been in our family all that time. My wife Leasa is the 5th generation to own the original Farmstead, and we are excited to share a little bit of its history and charms with you. The barn raising was over 100 years ago, and it makes a charming backdrop to “Grandmas” house. This is where you can sit on one of the large porches and watch the wheat, corn or soybeans blow in the breeze while you sip a nice cold drink or have your morning cup of coffee. It’s where you can pick a stalk of rhubarb to chew on, or make a pie with. Or, grab a pear off the tree by the old chicken house for a fresh afternoon snack. With a horseshoe drive around the house, you can hop right in and out of your vehicle by the backroom entrance door.
The farmhouse is stocked with bedding, towels, an outside grill, and grilling utensils, pots and pans, and even some extras in case you’re in the mood to bake (most of which were Grandmas). There are dishes, utensils, a hand mixer, a bullet mixer and a small coffee pot as well as a single serve Keurig coffee maker, and a microwave oven. Large appliances include a stove, a full size refrigerator, a washer and dryer. There is a laundry line and clothespins are hanging by the dryer, and a wooden drying rack in the back room.
For your convenience, we have also placed a picnic basket and green picnic blanket in the entrance table shelves, along with 2 beach towels (please do not remove any other towels from the premises). Picnicking is one of our favorite spontaneous things to do and there are so many places to enjoy a picnic in NE Ohio.
We hope you can relax and really enjoy your stay at our Farmhouse.
