Cozy Highland Park bungalow with lots of character. Easy access to downtown, East Village, hospitals, interstates 80/35, and local universities. Quick driving distance to the fairgrounds. Conveniently located in one of Des Moines' charming historic neighborhoods, Highland Park/Oak Park. Short walking distance to a coffee shop with rotating treats, a bakery that is home to the "Best Donut in Iowa", one of the oldest Italian restaurants in DSM, and unique local shopping.

Off street parking is included and check-in is a breeze. This adorable house was built in the 1920s and offers three bedrooms- enough to comfortably sleep 6. 1 Gig internet speeds and designated office/work space. Well appointed kitchen and comfortable dining and living spaces make this ideal for weekend getaways or long stays. Wake up to fresh brew from local coffee shops with the provided coffee machine or French press. Put your feet up on the porch or be shaded by mature trees on the patio while bird-watching when the weather allows. In colder months, stay warm curled up with a book from our library and enjoy the views through original windows with gorgeous wavy glass. Beautiful property with comfortable furnishings and a kitchen with all the necessities (i.e... good coffee maker). Bathroom was small but functional, nice neighborhood, quick response from owners when I had a question about the TV.

Wonderful Stay

Sarah and Chris were great hosts. House was as promised, clean, and close to downtown/all our planned activities. Had plenty of space, quiet evenings, and plenty of cooking/eating/sleeping space for a family of five. When we checked in there was a chirping smoke alarm - Chris was over within half an hour to address the “issue”. Would readily stay here again next time we’re in Des Moines.

Beautiful Bungalow … Sweet Space

In a great little Highland Park neighborhood, close to cafes, groceries, etc, we enjoyed an incredible few days. Though, not nice enough outside to enjoy the expansive yard, we did love the porch swing. The tv didn’t (really) work, but we enjoyed playing games and just hanging out. We’ll, definitely, consider staying again. Our hosts, Chris and Sarah were great.

Charming home and patio

The house was great; clean with nice sheets and towels. Both the back patio and front porch were great. Also, it was easy to get into town for sightseeing and shopping. It might be beneficial (for out of town quests) to note that it is in a transitional area. Another suggestion would be to add a small toaster and a plastic cutting board (we didn't know if we should use the ones on the wall so we didn't). Overall we loved the charm and cleanliness of the house, as well as the dishes and pans.

The hosts were wonderful to work with. Access to downtown was very easy and they made the house safe with the ring doorbell. The home was stocked with the kitchen and bathroom necessities. It was very clean and had a cute style. Definitely recommend for a weekend getaway with friends or family!

Great Place in Des Moines

This is a lovely old craftsman style bungalow! It has a lot of the original woodwork such as built-in seating, bookcases, and a desk. It is quite lovely. The neighborhood is quiet, and the place was sparkling clean. Check-in was a breeze. Although we felt completely safe during our stay, a lady we met on one of our walks in the neighborhood mentioned that it is not safe to walk alone at night (this is probably true of many neighborhoods, though). We would stay again!
