The location was perfect. In our travels we have visited the Great Lakes and learned about the shipping history. It was nice to see the connection to the Atlantic
David was friendly, helped us unpack the car. Gave us a tour.
No electric outlets that worked in the bathroom.
His hot water was leaking so he shut it off to the bathroom sink. This meant the cold water faucets did not work and the hot water faucets ran cold.
The shower was partially warm. He had turned it down for previous guests with a baby and couldn’t remember how to turn the hot water up.
The washer ran warm water for cold.
The place heated up quickly when it was cold and damp outside. Very comfortable.
We had to shut off the cold water valve in the kitchen because the cold water wouldn’t stop running.
He came when we had trash to be picked up, turned on the grill when we wanted it, brought us bottled water and picked up ice cubes for us the first day.
We enjoyed being able to see freighters going by and all the wildlife with babies.
This property was GROSSLEY MISREPRESENTED. The pictures and descriptions are completely different than what we arrived to. The grass was overgrown, the fire pit unusable, the dock was unusable. The owner was staying in a loft above the rental and entered the rental after we arrived leaving behind his personal belongings and medication. The house was not updated, dirty dishes were in the sink when we arrived. The property had sulfur water so there was a water cooler with less than a gallon in it. We had to go buy water to drink and cook with. No garbage bags, no handsoaps, no towel bar etc. The owner even hooked up a house to the side of the house to ruin into his loft thus taking away from flow into our rental. By not disclosing that he would be on the property the whole weekend we were there make us feel very uncomfortable. LASTLY WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE 3 HUGE POT PLANTS AS BIG AS SMALL TREES growing along the rental.. Would never. Recommend or rent again from this owner and hope other people read this review. Wish we took the money we wasted, feeling creeped or all weekend and went to another location.
The day we arrived the owner was sitting on the patio shirtless and drinking the house was a mess cobwebs everywhere. The toilet seat was only attached on one side, tub/shower water stained and filthy. The picture of the dock, is the neighbors dock. His dock is missing half of it. Outlets that don't work, light switches not covered. The floors sunk in, we tried to leave but Vrbo wouldn’t let us. These places are not inspected or held to any health codes. Do not use this platform.
Screened in porch takes you to the river edge and watching the big ships on the St. Lawrence was a new experience. (There's even an app to track them.)
Open floor plan with lots of room. Country cozy with the comforts of home. Hope to return and stay longer next time.
Charming host!

The property has a great view of the Saint Lawrence outside or in a screened porch. The living area is large with the open kitchen on one side. It also has a bathroom/ laundry room and two big bedrooms.
Had the weather been warmer (it was October), we would have loved to have enjoyed the screened in porch overlooking the river. We were able to enjoy a fire in the fire pit by the dock. Plenty of firewood supplied. The insdie was spacious and very nice. We were ten minutes to Ogdensburg or ten minutes to Morristown. We had a wonderful time.
I was shown around the place Sunday evening. The rooms were dim — with one or two low wattage bulbs each. Heavy duty fans were making noise in every room. A hallway leading outside was permanently wet with a layer of water. Fans were running at both ends.
He showed me a refrigerator/freezer also with no light bulbs and door edges black with mold. Then a small oven so dirty I would never eat anything cooked in it.
Told me the hot water wasn’t very hot because he didn’t know how to raise the temperature.(!?!)
Showed off the bathroom that was so dimly lit, I’d be afraid to shave in there.
The washing machine was half broken, so small loads onlyHe demonstrated at length a wall mounted TV featuring ROKU as if I would be entranced by it for three weeks.
Screened porch featured torn screens; some badly repaired other not at all. There were three doors, only one of which had a key — which he presented to me. All floors were carpeted except the kitchen and the (very wet) hallway entrance.
After he departed, I turned off the fans and became immediately aware of why they were in place. The stink of mold under the carpeting, masked by years (?) of perfumed surface cleaners was overwhelming. My health became the deciding factor for my departure.
I was very tired and slept in the relative safety of the porch for a couple of hours, Then set about repacking the car in the very early hours of today (26th) and departed at first light.
David - the owner - was great; he greeted us when we arrived and answered every text quickly. The place was clean; nothing fancy but it didn't need to be for our stay. We were there over New Year's and we wondered if maybe David wasn't prepared for winter guests; the place was undergoing some repairs and improvements. But we could see how this would be a perfect place in warmer weather and we'll likely return.
